Champion jockey Damien Oliver has failed a breathalyser test at today’s Warrnambool meeting.
Oliver registered an initial breath test reading of 0.038, almost twice the limit permitted for jockeys to be fit to ride. He later registered 0.035 in a secondary test.
Oliver has been stood down from riding for the remainder of the day. He was set to ride Cafe Society for Gai Waterhouse in today’s $200,000 Warrnambool Cup.
Oliver is the second Jockey to fail the breath test at today’s meeting with Paul Hamblin missing the first race of the meeting due to registering above the limit.
