Black Caviar relative impresses on debut

A filly from the family of Black Caviar has made an impressive debut in country Victoria.

Three-year-old Sistonic stepped out in a maiden race over 1100m at Sale on Thursday and raced to a convincing 4-1/2 length win.

Like Black Caviar, Sistonic is a daughter of Bel Esprit.

And her mother Danavia is a half-sister to Black Caviarโ€™s dam Helsinge with both mares out of Scandinavia.

Trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Sistonic began quickly to take the lead and was held together well into the straight by jockey Linda Meech before sprinting clear to win without being fully extended.

โ€œThat was very, very impressive,โ€ Meech told TVN.

โ€œI probably couldnโ€™t hold her any slower.โ€

Stable representative Bruno Rouge-Serret said it was good to see the well-bred filly win in style on debut.

โ€œDave thinks sheโ€™ll get through to city-class races and with her pedigree she should hopefully get through to black-type (level),โ€ he said.

โ€œWeโ€™ll just take her home and give her a couple of easy days and Dave will plan where he goes from here.โ€
