Anxious wait for Catalyst results

Trainer Clayton Chipperfield is facing an anxious wait for the results of a veterinary examination of his start galloper Catalyst.

Catalyst ran in Saturdayโ€™s Group Two The Shorts at Randwick but failed to beat a runner home and was found to be lame in a post race vet exam.

Chipperfield will have the horse undergo a more thorough examination on Monday with the findings set to shape his star sprinters spring campaign which could end prematurely.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got the vet coming around to do some x-rays to get to the bottom of it,โ€ Chipperfield told the Daily Telegraph.

โ€œAt the moment he is the same as he was yesterday.

โ€œBossy said he felt brilliant going around to the start and was happy with him in the running.โ€

โ€œHe felt if he could sprint he would have been right there in the top three or four but obviously that never happened and when he went to let him go, there was nothing there.
