Racing Victoria has been forced to cancel another race meeting due to extreme heat conditions forecast across the state.
Temperatures in Melbourne are expected to reach 41 degrees, with racing originally scheduled to be conducted at Werribee, while a cool change is forecast to arrive late on Friday.
The abandoned meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, January 12, with no other race meetings programmed for that day.
Acceptances for the Werribee meeting have been deferred by 48 hours and will now be taken at 9am on Friday, January 9, with all race distances to remain unchanged.
The latest cancellation follows Racing Victoria’s decision to move Wednesday’s Sandown meeting to Thursday due to hot weather, while Racing NSW has also postponed Wednesday’s Wagga meeting amid a forecast temperature of 44 degrees.
