A jockey in Ireland has been left red faced after a frightening near-miss that could have ended in disaster for the teenage hoop.
Evan Daly, 18, had been jogging the track at Navan completely oblivious to the fact the field in the novice hurdle race was heading straight towards him.
Daly was seen sprinting to escape being trampled on as the field cleared a hurdle in the back straight.
Daly, who was booked to ride later in the meeting, told stewards he failed to hear the horses approaching as he had been listening to music with headphones on.
Although stewards cautioned Daly, it’s fair to say this is one mistake he won’t be making again anytime soon.
