European raider Benbatl is more popular with Sportsbet punters than Winx to win Saturday’s Cox Plate.
Winx heads betting at $1.22, but second favourite Benbatl ($8.50) has received twice as many bets as the great mare.
Winx will be chasing an historic fourth Cox Plate win, and has certainly grown a legion of fans throughout her career with the following wagering highlights:
- In 2015 Winx opened at $17 and started $4.50, her longest price. Criterion (2nd) was the best backed to beat her.
- 2016 saw Winx ($1.80) defeating Hartnell, who was the next most popular runner, by eight lengths. Winx opened $5.50.
- In 2017 Happy Clapper (6th) was the best backed runner, by a slender margin. Winx starts at $1.18, her shortest quote for the Group 1.
