The Aidan O’Brien trained Order Of St George has firmed into second favourite for the Melbourne Cup after winning the Group 1 Irish St Leger.
Following his emphatic nine length win at the Curragh, online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au slashed Order of St George’s odds from $31 into $17.
Last year’s Cup winner Almandin heads betting at $13. Admire Deus and Bonneval are equal on the third line of betting on $19.
“Order Of St George couldn’t have been more impressive. Part-owner Lloyd Williams is yet to confirm a trip to Melbourne for the six-year-old, but he’d have to be thinking seriously about having a shot after that win,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
