A strong field has been assembled for the Albany Cup (2100m) today on Easter Sunday, where the market is siding with the metro form.

2025 Albany Cup Runner Preview:
1. Fat Roy Slim: Had a suck run on the fence in the Geraldton Cup and kept finding the line late when third. Maps to do no work in the run and does have a touch of class on his side.
2. Filthy Habits: He is the class factor. Been racing really well at metro level and with his racing style, now hard fit, he should prove hard to beat.
3. Bambun Boy: He got front end control in the Geraldton Cup and gave nothing else a look in, winning well. Harder here, not sure he leads and there is more depth. Not for me.
4. What A Prince: He ran second in the Prelude at this track/distance two weeks ago and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Good racing style, tough campaigner…just not sure he is up to these.
5. Manavendra: He was well supported in the Geraldton Cup but he did absolutely nothing, finishing tailed off. His best is good enough to threaten, but I’d prefer to watch.
6. Alberich: Finished down the track in the Prelude and suspect something similar will eventuate here.
7. Deadly And Fast: Rinse and repeat the Alberich comment.
8. Duchess Demerit: He is the one from the Prelude I can entertain. He got back in the run but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. He’ll be strong late…not sure he wins, but a first four threat.
9. Pure Chino: Dominant winner of the Prelude, but I reckon was suited by the track conditions, seemingly handling it best, and comfortably. Firmer deck this time around, harder…not for me.
10. Queen Of Jerusalem: Gave them a start and a beating to win at Ascot last time, producing a strong finale. He’s found winning, sense of timing, good camp, hard to beat.
11. Red Dwarf: He is the each way bet for me. He is a few weeks between runs since racing here when back and really catching the eye late behind Manavendra. I think he’ll get a good drag into the race and can launch late.
12. Royal Law: Game second in the Geraldton Cup but just not sure he is up to this level.
13. Truevinsky: Was mainly wide throughout in the Geraldton Cup but he kept on and was game in defeat. He’ll run honest again, but can’t have him as a winning threat.

Filthy Habits loves to control races from the front so suspect that is what eventuates here. What A Prince should get the slide across and sit outside him and from there, I think they get front end control. Bambun Boy and Royal Law should settle handy.
