Caulfield- Tuesday, March 3: Weather Fine, Poly Track.
Heat One- Exacting (1st):
Son of Sebring that had one run in the Spring for a fifth to Thurlow in the Merson Cooper. He has been given a good spell and looked pretty sharp in this heat, sitting on speed throughout, being clicked up by Nolen in the straight and responding well to win by a comfortable margin. Wouldn’t say he is Stakes class, but he is sure to pick up a couple of races if placed right.
Heat Two- Peritus (1st) and Jobodwana (2nd):
Both looked impressive in this jump out, dominating from the front. Peritus is an unraced filly for Peter Moody while Jobodwana is a son of Congrats who is yet to race for Mick Price. Time was pretty good in comparison to other heats. Both look smart and will be competitive where ever they debut.
Heat Three- Bernadini/Honest Opinion (2nd):
Mick Price runner that hasn’t got an official name, but the ability is clearly there. Jumped well, led comfortably and although he was ridden along, he did sprint nicely when asked and won well.
Heat Four- Mirage (1st):
The most interesting trialler for the morning. Five year old that has had four starts for four wins, ranging from December 2012 to March last year. He has obviously had his injury problems, but the talent and ability is still there, and that was clearly evident by his jump out win here where he jumped well from the gates, travelled very comfortably on speed, kicked clear in the straight and pretty much went to the line under a hold from Nolen. Keen to back him first up.
Heat Seven- All American Boy (1st):
Hasn’t raced since running fifth to One Inch Punch at Mornington, but looks back on track to win after a nice jump out performance here, where he led comfortably out wide before cutting back to the inside at the top of the straight. He was challenged, but found plenty under little pressure from the rider.
