Adam Page gives us his brief look at Saturday’s 2011 Queen of The Turf Stakes at Rosehill racecourse on Golden Slipper day, view his early look at the race.

More Joyous:

The six opponents to More Joyous are all in good form and are sure to run well, but the great mare looks to have a stranglehold on this. She got through the slow going last start and won so easily in the Canterbury Stakes, leading throughout. Will sit on the back of stablemate and likely leader Montana Flyer, ease off her heels at the 300m and win effortlessly. It’d be very surprising if she got rolled.

Palacio De Cristal:

The mare than can run second is Palacio De Cristal. Super run first up off a slow tempo, then got a long way back and didn’t handle the bog track in the Coolmore Classic. She’ll get a firmer track here which is a huge plus for her. She is drawn well in barrier three and the small field will enable to be not too far off the speed. Bossy jumps on and can certainly be in the finish.

Melito is the second best mare in the race, but I question if she has fully recovered from her gut busting run in the Coolmore, carrying 59.5kg. WFA suits her here and at her best would give this a mighty shake but I think 1500m is a slight risk.

Montana Flyer:

Montana Flyer can run a cheeky race in front. Stuck on well when finishing sixth behind Aloha in the Coolmore after leading. She’ll lead here from gate one, but the question will be if she runs along or will she be held back to the field. I think she’ll roll along on the speed which will help the stablemate More Joyous but she is tough and will fight right to the line.

More Joyous wins. Unbeaten in two years in Sydney and will continue that here. Palacio De Crystal if the rain stays away will hit the line strongly for second. Melito for third. She’ll run her usual honest race but 1500m is a concern. Montana Flyer will lead and fight like a dog to the post.
