Adam Page gives us his brief look at Saturday’s 2011 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill racecourse on Golden Slipper day, view his early look at the race.

King Mufhasa:

Very hard race. As I don’t see a great deal of speed here I’ll go with the kiwi King Mufhasa. Won back to back Group Ones in NZ before going to Caulfield for the Futurity and he had no peace in front and weakened to finish fourth. The only other on-pace runner here is Theseo and I question how fit he is after a long spell. King Mufhasa is a tough horse to get past when allowed to dictate and he did finish close-up in this race last year. At odds I think he can dictate and prove hard to run down.

Rangirandoo travelled so well in the run first up in the Canterbury Stakes and when he peeled out three wide, it looked as if he was going to give More Joyous a race but his condition gave out late and he wilted to finish fourth. He would have derived plenty of benefit from that run. He has drawn perfectly in barrier one so Corey has plenty of options with the reigning Doncaster champion. Don’t be surprised if he runs a big race on his home track.

Triple Elegance:

Triple Elegance is the real deal. Has really come of age this prep and is a serious Doncaster hope. Superb win in the Liverpool Cup and although he is untried at WFA, I think he is in this right up to his ears at good odds. He’ll get the gun run and look the winner at some stage.

Theseo is the iron horse of Australian racing. Sat three throughout first up in the Chipping Norton but still found the line well enough, first up in six months. He’ll need this run as well I suspect but Gai doesn’t mind surprising us and it wouldn’t surprise me if this champion won.

Two weeks in a row that the kiwis take another Group One I think with King Mufhasa. Proven WFA performer and will appreciate the firm surface and the engagement of Michael Rodd. Rangirandoo looks primed for a another super Doncaster performance yet he can still be a strong force in this race. Stablemate Triple Elegance is the unknown because this is his debut at WFA but no doubting he has the ability to take this out and Theseo will keep on keeping on as he always does.
