Saturdays Cox Plate meeting at Moonee Valley will be remembered for many reasons, like the utter arrogance of Black Caviar and Manawanui, but we got to see the example of the highs and lows of horse racing.

The sheer joy for connections of Pinker Pinker, a brilliant winner of the Cox Plate, while connections of Lion Tamer were left with an empty feeling after the horse snapped his near hind leg and he had to be put down. Other than that, it was a super day of racing and on we go towards the best horse racing carnival of the world- the Melbourne Cup Carnival. But before we do that, here are the black bookers to help you get future winners.

Race One:
Forgive: Rise To The Top has plenty of talent, but he has no brain at the moment. Just needs time to mature and you’ll see a good horse.
Forget: Hard to say given it was a juvenile race.
Follow: Road Trippin missed the kick and was all at sea in the run, but he did hit the line well enough to suggest he’ll be winning races.

Race Two:
Forgive: Flame Of Lanka got hampered at about the 400m and although she wasn’t going to win, she was entitled to finish closer.
Forget: Twilighting. Yes she did work early, but she was a spent force a long way from home.
Follow: Now that Torah has won now, maybe she can go on with it and register some wins in succession.

Race Three:
Forgive: Miss Stellabelle had to wait for a little bit on the turn, but she was never going to pick up Karuta Queen.
Forget: Beckon had the soft run behind Karuta Queen was found wanting late and tired badly. Not up to this class yet.
Follow: Red Rain had no idea how to handle Moonee Valley but gee his last 100m was excellent. Wait until he gets to a bigger track.

Race Four:
Forgive: Small field, they all had their chance.
Forget: Power Broker was pressured from the 1000m but he stopped quickly and was very ordinary on the line.
Follow: If he is ridden with cover, Manawanui will win the Derby.

Race Five:
Forgive: First up after 11 months off, Scenic Blast did finish last but expect improvement.
Forget: Can’t say anything.
Follow: Here De Angels actually ran a decent little race and a listed event wouldn’t be out of his reach if he reproduces what he did here.

Race Six:
Forgive: They all seemingly had their chance.
Forget: Harris Tweed just isn’t racing well at the moment. Don’t know what connections will do because apart from the first two, this was a very weak race and he struggled.
Follow: Americain is back to his best and if the forecast for rain is right, then he is going to be very hard to beat in the Melbourne Cup.

Race Seven:
Forgive: Danleigh and Luen Yat Forever. Both had little luck in the run and expect improvement once they get to Flemington.
Forget: Dao Dao just threatens to win a good race again, but I won’t be supporting him. Very disappointing run.
Follow: Happy Trails had no luck between the 400m and 200m and should have finished much closer. He is right back to his best.

Race Eight:
Forgive: King’s Rose. Always thought it’d be a bad barrier and I was proven right. Very stiff in defeat.
Forget: Playing God is a good horse, but not in Victoria.
Follow: The connections of Secret Admirer will already be giggling about next year with this classy mare. Give her another 12 months of experience and she’ll give this an almighty shake in 2012.

Race Nine:
Forgive: Raspberries got left behind when the sprint went on. Give her another chance.
Forget: More Strawberries. Barely got past Apennine in the finish…
Follow: Kiwi mare Our Ella Belle got warm late and she’ll be better at 2000m and beyond on a firmer surface.
