An eight raced card has been organised for the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (13:02) Adelaide Galvanising (75) 2250m
3 Crafty Devil (Bet Now: $4.00) is going well I think for Matt Cumani and I think she can take this out. She ran over 2040m at the Valley on Manikato Night where Greysful Glamour got an absolute picnic in front and once clicked up by Rachel King, that mare bolted clear and those behind had no chance. Better suited here and finds a thin race.
1 Jaguary (Bet Now: $1.26) is the one to beat on current form. Just found Wasabi Bob too tough two back before going to the 2040m at the Valley in what looked a strong race and ran well but bumped into a flying Double You Tee. That form reads far superior…the knock with him is beyond 2000m may see him out, but has class and gets the claim for Jerry Chau.
Up in trip should suit 2 Loresho (Bet Now: $15.00) for Matty Williams. Down the track two back behind Dabiyr before being freshened up and racing over the mile at Avoca and worked home okay without really threatening. Up to 2250m should be perfect for this guy and the small field helps too. A win wouldn’t totally surprise against these.
Race 2. (13:42) Channel 7 Mdn 1400m
6 The Pugilist (Bet Now: $2.30) is a son of Fighting Sun for the McEvoy stable that resumes. This bloke has showed good talent throughout his career but for the most part, he hasn’t quite lived up to the early hype and has been disappointing. Been given a good break and has had two solid trials in readiness for his return.
2 Flying Arion (Bet Now: $4.20) is a son of Medaglia D’Oro for Phillip Stokes that was kept pretty safe in betting when debuting over 1200m here and I thought he was solid enough in defeat but at the same time, he looked to have every chance when third. Dodged Balaabel on Tuesday in preference for this weaker option.
1 Cleary Adonis (Bet Now: $8.50) is working up to a win I suspect. Not sure it’s here, but his time will come, and if the fav is off her game, this guy is the winner. He ran in a 1400m maiden at Murray Bridge last time out and really liked the way he found the line late when third to Angaston. Can sit closer in the run if need be.
Race 3. (14:22) Nova 919 Mdn Plate 1250m
6 Hypercane (Bet Now: $2.90) looks ideally placed up in trip. He debuted over 1000m here two weeks ago in a benchmark 3YO race, so not much was expected of him, but he found the line with real purpose late to run third to The Mobot. Should take good improvement from that outing and up to 1250m should see him hard to beat.
Giving 5 The Bull McCabe (Bet Now: $8.00) a look here. This son of Ambidexter was really well backed when debuting at Strathalbyn but unfortunately for connections, he was wide no cover on speed for the trip and that early burn just told on him late when fifth. Been given a little freshen up and the market support was very strong that race, which has produced two winners. Hard to beat if he can take advantage the gate.
4 Spudsta (Bet Now: $18.00) is one that could be a knockout chance at odds. He was specked at odds when resuming at Gawler and the money was right. He got back off the speed and spotted those in front a decent start but worked to the line pretty well when third to Secret War. Has the run under the belt and extra 150m helps.
Race 4. (15:02) Holdfast Insurance Plate 1000m
4 Stenmark (Bet Now: $2.25) is a really well bred colt for the Hayes/Dabernig team that is on debut. He is by Medaglia D’Oro out of Scandiva, so is bred to be a good one and the recent Flemington jumpout indicates he is talented and certainly good enough to win here on debut. Market will be the guide, but in his corner.
8 Caralue (Bet Now: $4.60) is a Zebedee filly for Gordon Richards having start one. This girl trialled here last week and thought she moved quite well when second to Theresabearinthere, beaten a half length in a field of five. Stable is having a good run at the moment and I think she can measure up here at start one.
6 Yule My Hero (Bet Now: $8.00) is a son of Kaphero on debut. He trialled behind Theresabearinthere and while he only beat one runner home in the five horse trial, I thought he moved quite well late in the piece. Hard to get a real guide on this race with so many unknowns, but he’s a local and could go around at silly odds with the unfashionable trainer/jock combo.
Race 5. (15:42) Pike & Joyce (66) 1400m
I think 7 Conconi (Bet Now: $4.50) is one of the better bets on the card. Emma Hubbard trains this mare, who ran over 1300m here two weeks ago when snagged back from the wide gate and that pretty much sealed her fate, but liked the way she found the line behind Rainmoth. Up to 1400m, depth not as strong and has gate one for a senior jock. Keen.
I think 6 Raging Queen (Bet Now: $4.00) gets another chance. Just looked in need of the run first up behind Bolt I Am at Murray Bridge before going to the course proper here two weeks ago and was never in the hunt behind Danger Deal but the race was dominated by those near the pace. She can win if she brings her best.
5 Bohemian Forest (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Darren Magro trained gelding that was completely unwanted in betting at Balaklava two back when getting a sweet sit just off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off when fifth to Borris In Ossory, who was well backed and led all the way. Then went to Gawler and was close up behind Aussie Jack. He’s a consistent animal this guy and for the most part is around the mark.
Race 6. (16:25) David Fazakerley Freedom (70) 1550m
If 1 Balcazar (Bet Now: $9.00) is going any good, surely he goes close to beating these. Resumed for Matt Laurie over 1400m at Pakenham where he was back near last in the run at a meeting where those on speed were advantaged, but on face value, he was still disappointing. Up in trip, fitter and drops big time in depth. If he’s anywhere near right, he wins.
2 Lynch Mob (Bet Now: $3.10) is a son of Wanted for the McEvoy stable that resumes, having not raced since the Oakbank Cup during their Carnival when down the track and finishing tailed off last behind Meli Melo, but was at the end of a long prep and looked a tired horse. Sprints well fresh and has had three solid trials in readiness.
Want to give 8 Bwuva (Bet Now: $8.50) another chance. Two weeks between runs for the Ryan Balfour stable after racing over 1400m at this track when on speed and pulling hard, which left him with nothing left in the straight behind Enki. Better suited at a further trip, so 1550m looks good for him, and his efforts prior were good enough to run well here against this lot.
Race 7. (17:07) Medallion Homes (rs2ly) 1000m
4 Domination (Bet Now: $6.00) is an absolute speed demon for Grant Young who will look the winner for a long way. Ran in the feature sprint on Murray Bridge Cup Day where he scooted along in front and gave a really good kick but like most of his races, the last 50m he paddled and was gathered in late by Equal Love. He’ll lead and give you a great sight.
1 Zalmona (Bet Now: $5.50) is a talented sprinter that resumes for Peter Blanch. This gelding hasn’t raced since the Goodwood when wide with cover throughout and battled away pretty well, far from disgraced, but clearly outclassed behind Despatch. Can sprint well fresh and his trials leading in have been quite good.
5 I Am Incredible (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Matty Seyers trained gelding that comes through the Irish Mint race from two weeks ago at this track/distance when near the speed throughout and trying hard, but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for third. Gets a 2.5kg weight swing on that horse and has drawn barrier one, so Crowther should get the run of the race on him.
Race 8. (17:55) Dominant Happy Trails (75) 1400m
John Hyam has 2 Tongsai Boss (Bet Now: $2.35) flying. Should have won two back when second to More Than Exceed after missing the start by several lengths. Ran last time out at Morphettville where he jumped clean, landed on speed and from the 1000m onwards, the race was over and he absolutely bolted up like it was a barrier trial. Confident he can win again.
8 Jentico (Bet Now: $3.70) is a daughter of Written Tycoon for the McEvoy stable that was well supported when resuming three weeks ago here and under a lovely front running steer from Vorster, she showed good ticker in the late and was too good. Bit more depth, but she’s got plenty of upside and has the right racing pattern.
7 Final Hearing (Bet Now: $10.00) is working up to something positive I think. Former Adam Durrant runner from WA that has had two runs for Marilyn Smith, both runs have resulted in a fourth, the first of which came behind Jentico before backing up a week later and finding Danger Deal too good but stuck to the task well enough. That form reads well enough for this.
