8/1/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Easingwold Stakes day

A solid nine race program has been set down for Ascot this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

9 She’s Greysful (Bet Now: $10.00) on top for Hayden Ballantyne. This filly has had a couple of trials to get ready for start one, the latest seeing her win over 1000m at Belmont and she looked to go about her business nicely I thought. Draws soft for her debut and the depth here doesn’t look strong.

8 Pierra Art (Bet Now: $5.00) is a daughter of Pierro for Mickey Grantham that is on debut. She has had just one trial to get ready and I thought it was a pretty good piece of work at Lark Hill over 950m when a close up second, but seemingly had something in hand. Keen to see how she goes.

6 Ciao Luna (Bet Now: $10.00) finds herself now with Roy Rogers after debuting with Dion Luciani so I’d watch the market with this girl. Debuted on Dec 4 over this track/distance when chasing a hot speed and tiring late behind a pretty solid juvenile, Revitup. Draws wide, but has the race experience.

1 Blazing Away (Bet Now: $2.45) is a third up winner and he does look quite clearly the one they have to beat. Just ran out of puff fresh here when a close up fourth. Then went to Pinjarra when on speed where he gave a good kick but was outgunned late by Trade War. Hard fit now and up to 1400m, he’ll take beating.

9 Sea Waif (Bet Now: $6.00) hasn’t really measured up in town before, but she does find a very winnable metro race here. Attempted to lead throughout at Pinjarra last start and did give a strong kick under Troy Turner but couldn’t quite see it through and had to settle for a narrow second. If she lands on speed and not spend too many petrol tickets, she’ll be dangerous.

5 Luke’s Choice (Bet Now: $14.00) is one to include in multiples. Resumed at Pinjarra in the Trade War race mentioned above where he got back off the speed. Was never really a winning threat, but didn’t mind the way he finished the race off when fourth. One for exotics I’d suggest.

Back to 1400m looks to be a slight negative for 2 Elite Fighter (Bet Now: $13.00) but he’s a last start metro winner at this track and will be strong late. He was very strong late when winning over 1500m here last time out, producing the best late splits of the race in a powerful display. If he’s within range on the turn, he can finish over the top.

8 The Velvet Queen (Bet Now: $2.80) deserves another chance. Put together a couple of sharp wins before taking on the older horses in a Series Final where not much went her way in a total forgive behind Pat’s Got Sass. Much better suited here and Parnham sticks. She can bounce back.

1 Hear Me Sing (Bet Now: $6.00) has a tricky draw to overcome but got the maiden win out of the way last time so he could go on with it. He beat three horses in that race at Belmont last time where they walked home and didn’t exactly savage the line in the straight, so that’s a query, but prior form was sound.

1 River Beau (Bet Now: $5.00) is a real 1000m specialist and has class. Comes here with fresh legs after finishing down the track in the Winterbottom where he was found at both 1200m and Group l level. Tick over trial behind Clairvoyance was good and back to 1000m, he’ll be dangerous.

6 Mantelli (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very consistent animal for Team Gangemi that won’t be far away. That was the case when racing down the straight at Pinjarra last time out where he looked the winner for a few strides but had to settle for a second to Material Witness. Has to be respected here.

2 Mankind (Bet Now: $9.50) is a son of Denman for Hayden Ballantyne that resumes. He had a two run Winter prep at Belmont where he struck wet tracks both runs and failed to fire. Been given a good break and he smashed the clock in a sharp Lark Hill trial win. This is a very winnable race if he’s ready to go.

3 Bruce Almighty (Bet Now: $3.90) gets the nod in what looks a pretty thin race. Ran over this track/distance last Saturday where he got a cheap time of it in front and kicked strongly, just failing to finish it off when a close up third to Bogart. Should lead comfortably again and the depth here is thinner.

5 Em Tee Aye (Bet Now: $4.40) comes through the Bogart race from last Saturday mentioned above. He just went a bit keen in the run and I reckon that took away something from his finale. Gets a significant jockey upgrade and if he can relax in the run, he is capable of taking this out.

6 Mosseratti (Bet Now: $41.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Wide no cover when resuming at the midweeks here on December 22 and just tired late when down the track behind Cristal Dane. He does have a solid record at the track/distance and can produce a positive run second up. Draws to do no work, he can sneak a first four spot.

10 Watch Me Ney Ney (Bet Now: $14.00) looks to have returned in good order and with Chris Parnham steering, I am leaning his way. Resumed over 1400m at Belmont where the race shape wasn’t really to his liking but his finale was more than sound when fourth to Grand Design. Hasn’t really fired at Ascot but can’t ignore the resumption and this is a winnable race.

5 Fairy Fast (Bet Now: $2.35) is on the seven day back up for Team Williams after racing here last Saturday where she finished off strongly from behind the pace, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Bogart. Blinkers back on and Pike steering, she’s easily likeable.

3 Vital Flirt (Bet Now: $23.00) is sneaky going well I feel. Found the class a bit rich in the Starstruck Classic two back. Then went to Belmont where she loomed but couldn’t quite finish it off when coming back in trip. Now back up to the mile, an improved showing is on the cards.

11 Lady Duckworth (Bet Now: $9.50) each way for me. Doesn’t exactly win out of turn but is honest, will stay all day and has a draw to do no work. Three weeks between runs since racing over 2100m here. She didn’t quite get the clearest of paths in the straight but stuck to the task pretty well when third to Sentimental Friend. She’s the each way bet for mine.

1 Come Right Back (Bet Now: $3.90) is on the seven day back up for Adam Durrant after racing in the Perth Cup. Mid race he looked to be trucking and be a threat at one stage but class kicked in and he didn’t have it. Beaten just over four lengths though so that is clearly A1 form for this.

6 Conquered Zone (Bet Now: $8.50) is a little query at 2200m but the claim helps. He ran in the Sentimental Friend race mentioned above where he was off the speed and chased hard. Just couldn’t quite finish it off but the run had merit to it. Doubt he wins, but one for multiples.

4 Bam’s On Fire (Bet Now: $9.50) is flying for Neville Parnham but whether it’s bad luck or bad gates, she hasn’t been able to get the runs on the board. I think she gets a golden chance here. Ran last Saturday in the La Trice and did make ground without threatening behind the very much in form Beret. Back to 1400m I find interesting, but this is a very winnable race for her.

7 Proconsent (Bet Now: $2.70) is another that’s racing in a purple patch. Spanked them two back before racing here four weeks ago and was just left with a bit too much to do I thought when second to Chili is Hot, who ran well last Saturday in the La Trice. Back in trip I find interesting but Pike is back on.

6 Lorentinio (Bet Now: $7.50) should roll on speed and give cheek. Ran over this track/distance three weeks back when wide no cover for the trip and that hard run just told late when tiring behind Beat The Bro. He does his best when racing in front so if that eventuates, he can bounce back.

7 Burnya To Survive (Bet Now: $5.00) looks a progressive four year old for Jason Miller and confident he can measure up here. 2/2 this time in, bolting up fresh at Pinjarra before proving that was no fluke with a dominant win at Belmont last Thursday. Good test here but confident he can go close.

4 Jedi Mind (Bet Now: $3.60) hasn’t been too far away in two runs back from a spell for Brett Pope. Far from disgraced fresh behind quality mare Island Charm before backing up a week later and was okay late behind Son Son. Parnham takes the steer and drawn soft, he’ll be dangerous.

9 Holy Ghost (Bet Now: $14.00) is a knockout chance. Neville Parnham trained gelding who resumed last Thursday at Belmont and I think you could make a case he should have won. Didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight when seemingly having something to offer.Clear depth rise here, but that resumption was too good to ignore.

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 11 Lady Duckworth
