The course proper at Morphettville is where Adelaide racing will take place this Tuesday with a strong nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out twelve metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out nine metres for the remainder.

Race 1. (11:56AM) Schweppes Maiden Plate 1050m
12 Tan Tat Flame (Bet Now: $2.05) gets the nod for me here. Tony McEvoy trained filly who is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1000m on the Parks track where she tried really hard but couldn’t peg back Mondo Magic. The break between runs is no real harm and stable is low flying at the moment, plus the recent trial was outstanding. Keen.
11 Secret Bar (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Bernadini filly first up for the Stokes team. This girl kicked off her career in mid June at Balaklava where she got back and worked home okay late in the piece behind Paris Crystal. Good break between runs and though beaten a fair way by Tan Tat Flame in the trial mentioned above, she looked to go nicely herself.
6 Good Nic (Bet Now: $11.00) is a tick over three weeks between runs for the John Macmillan team since racing in a Gawler maiden where she sat on speed under Jamie Kah and tried hard when third to Quivers. That horse ran well recently at Murray Bridge and the runner up bolted in a couple of Saturdays back on the Parks track.
Race 2. (12:31PM) PFD Food Services Maiden Plate 1050m
9 Rushwa (Bet Now: $3.10) gets the nod for me here. Ryan Balfour trained three year old that debuted a couple of Saturdays back over this track/distance where he showed good speed from a wide gate to lead, and ran along at a decent clip. Kicked well but his condition just gave out. Should come on from that and finds a weak race.
13 Yoelqui (Bet Now: $4.80 is a Lloyd Kennewell trained gelding who debuted over the 900m at Murray Bridge on Cup Day there and he did a pretty good job, sitting near the speed throughout and fighting on when third to Golden Lustre, who came out and ran well on the weekend. Just has to overcome the sticky draw.
1 Astir (Bet Now: $19.00) is a Richard Jolly trained colt who debuted in the same race as Rushwa. He got a bad check at the start and that cost him all momentum really in a total forgive. Blinkers and tongue tie go on, he draws well and gets the claim for Victor Wong, so he has a few things going for him to improve.
Race 3. (1:06PM) Angelakis Bros Maiden Plate 1200m
7 Futago (Bet Now: $5.50) just has to overcome the sticky gate to look the winner here for mine. Just found the 900m too nippy on debut on Murray Bridge Cup Day when third to the above average Golden Lustre. Up to 1200m is perfect and loses nothing with Raquel Clark taking over given she is one of the form apprentices in Adelaide.
13 Princess Leah (Bet Now: $18.00) is a nine start maiden but she is always thereabouts and she finds a very winnable race here given the lack of depth. She ran in a 1200m maiden at Balaklava a couple of Wednesdays back and just got a bit too far back in the run for mine but her finale was more than sound behind Cobber. Draws a good gate and should be respected.
1 He’s Got Skills (Bet Now: $16.00) is a handy son of Skilled resuming for the Francis/Grant team. This bloke hasn’t raced for 14 weeks since racing over 1100m at Mildura where he sat off the pace and chased hard all the way when third to Crypto Peer Rocks in a maiden which has produced four subsequent winners. No trials, but was a real eye catcher fresh last prep.
Race 4. (1:45PM) Handiskips Maiden Plate 1600m
12 Ashady Hussy (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Richard Jolly trained filly who has had two runs back now from a seven week freshen up. Just fair fresh at Strathalbyn before going to Bordertown where she defied the track pattern and worked home strongly to run second to Tramps Like Us. She should be hard fit now and is very well in at the weights.
8 Fortunatus (Bet Now: $6.50) is a David Jolly trained gelding who will be strong at the end of a hard mile here. He ran over 1700m in a maiden on gawler Cup Day and got a fair way back in the run but worked home with purpose late behind Itz A Bullet. That form should hold up well for a race like this, and he has upside.
13 Delani (Bet Now: $6.50) is a three year old filly who has had two career outings and has been pretty good each time she stepped out. On the back up after racing at Strathalbyn on Wednesday where she made up good ground late in the piece behind the above average Picture Me Rolling. Up to the mile on a big track should suit.
Race 5. (3:00PM) Holdfast Insurance Handicap (Class 1) 1050m
1 Via Balciano (Bet Now: $1.80) looks a very promising horse for the Kennewell team. Debuted last Wednesday at Balaklava over the 1050m and he absolutely bolted in under Bowditch and ran very slick time for the meeting despite not being fully extended. Big step up here, but I am pretty confident he can handle it.
6 Atlantis Bar (Bet Now: $6.50) was unwanted in betting when resuming at the Balaklava midweeks but she ran a beauty I thought, closing off with real purpose late to run second to the very impressive winner De Jorvik. Can be a bit hit and miss at times, but off the resumption, you have to include her here as a chance.
3 Jackpot Johnny (Bet Now: $17.00) is a handy gelding for the Francis/Grant team that is first up here. Broke the maiden two back at Balaklava before being given a little freshen up and running over 1200m here when down the track behind the classy animal Arkham Knight. No trials, but a fast run 1050m will suit him late.
Race 6. (3:46PM) UBET Handicap (75) 2500m
4 Robocop (Bet Now: $14.00) will love the rise to 2500m as well as a drop in depth. He ran over 2000m here at the same meeting mentioned above and his run was a total forget for mine. Just got into a nasty spot and couldn’t really make an impression in a race dominated by those near the speed/rail. I think he can be a big improver here.
6 Centre Divider (Bet Now: $19.00) is a tough, tough seven year old gelding who loves to slog it out so he gets conditions to suit here. He ran over 2100m at Gawler last start where he did a bit of work in the run but looked to travel into the race strongly. Just didn’t have the necessary turn of foot but his effort was sound behind Kazoom. He can fill a place here.
Race 7. (4:26PM) Burnside Village Handicap (60) 1800m
3 Itz A Bullet (Bet Now: $13.00) looks very well placed here to record another win. Broke the maiden status last time out over 1700m on Gawler Cup Day and it was largely down to a lovely ride from Paul Gatt, who had the horse in the dream spot just off the pace before pushing wide on the turn and finishing best to get the win. Ran okay in the Hill Smith at this track/distance start prior, so he ticks a few boxes.
1 Prince Of Pagoda (Bet Now: $3.20) remains at the trip here after racing over 1800m here a few weeks back and I think he was just ridden a bit too close to the speed under Jamie Kah and by the time he got to the turn, he was gassed and struggling. I think with a more cold ride, he’ll be more effective and is a key threat if that eventuates.
11 Burnro (Bet Now: $14.00) hasn’t won for a long time but gee he finds a winnable race here to find some form. Had three wide cover last time out on Murray Bridge Cup Day and didn’t really look like winning at any stage but battled away pretty well in defeat. Draws to get good cover again and is one for exotics.
Race 8. (5:02PM) Hughes Limousines Handicap (70) 1100m
3 Alaskan Jade (Bet Now: $6.50) looks a great bet for mine. She ran over the 1250m on the Parks track a couple of Saturdays back and I thought her effort was very good considering she was wide no cover for the duration. Still had the audacity to fight on like she did behind a very good mare in Embecee Lil. Back to 1100m on the bigger track…yep she’ll do me fine.
9 Street Impact (Bet Now: $3.30) is a former Robert Smerdon trained mare that is now with Lloyd Kennewell. This girl kicked off her prep with a couple of runs for Smerdon and ran well but just didn’t quite measure up. Now sent here, she finds a winnable race and stable is going quite well with these Sean Buckley runners at the moment.
7 Patch Hero (Bet Now: $11.00) is a handy daughter of Kaphero that is first up for the Francis/Grant yard. This girl hasn’t raced since early August on the parks track where she was wide no cover throughout and couldn’t come on in the straight behind Nipperkin, who at the time was one of the form gallopers in SA. Is a first up winner and likes racing here.
Race 9. (5:38PM) The Junction Handicap (60) 1200m
9 De Jorvik (Bet Now: $6.00) ended last prep with a surprise all the way win over 1200m on the course proper. He then resumed at Balaklava last Wednesday where he was completely unwanted but showed a lovely turn of foot late to grab victory and produce his first decent bit of form fresh. Second up numbers are poor also, but so were the fresh numbers prior to last week.
5 Supreme Polarity (Bet Now: $5.00) has been given a little freshen up by Phillip Stokes and I reckon he should be watched very closely here. Last ran over 1400m on the Parks track and he ran well in defeat behind Silvera, who has of course gone on to run well in Melbourne. Recent trial was very good and he races best on the fresh side.
15 Silent Ice (Bet Now: $23.00 is certainly up to these if he produced his best form, but that can be any day really. Unreliable. Hasn’t raced since Balaklava Cup Day where he ran midfield behind the above average I’m A Princess. Races very well on the fresh side and draws to get decent three wide cover here.
