Nine races will be run and won on the Parks track at Morphettville on Saturday. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:51) White Claw (bm62) 1000m
1 Keep Reading (Bet Now:Β $1.95) is a son of Headwater for Tea Jolly that resumes. He had a three run prep in the Winter to start his career, placing on debut before winning his next two and was spelled soon after. One soft jumpout under the belt and the big weight to carry, but is the class factor.
4 Runamigo (Bet Now:Β $4.40) is first up here for Michael Hickmott and market will be fascinating with him. He resumes, having not raced since June 5 when wide no cover, doing work, and just feeling the pinch late behind a then handy type, Somewatt Fabulous. Resumes without a public trial/jumpout, so watch the market with this camp.
6 Star Espresso (Bet Now:Β $13.00) is a Chris Bieg trained filly that is first up. Still a maiden after three runs, but showed promise last prep, including okay efforts behind the likes of Keep Reading and Belle Of Yorkes. 1000m fresh I like for her and while I doubt she wins, she’s one for exotics.
Race 2. (13:27) Romeo's Foodhall (bm82) 1550m
Fitter and up to 1550m, I think 3 Royal Mile (Bet Now:Β $2.35) can bounce back. Quality animal for Lee Creek that resumed three weeks ago over 1200m on the course proper here when wide no cover for the trip but battled on quite strongly behind all the way winner Pindaric. Finds a very winnable 82 here and with upside to come, happy to be in his corner.
7 Crown Mint (Bet Now:Β $4.60) is racing very well at the moment for the Richards/Moyle camp. Impressive win two back at this track/distance. He then went to the Gawler Cup when dragged back from the wide gate but loved the way he found the line late behind Sign Of Ussuri. That form reads well for this.
5 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now:Β $8.50) saves his best for the Parks track so an improved showing is definitely on the cards. Far from disgraced in the Gawler Cup I thought. He was safely held but didn’t run a bad race at all behind Sign Of Ussuri. Much better suited here and can bounce back.
Race 3. (14:07) Romeo's Foodland (bm86) 1000m
2 All Banter (Bet Now:Β $2.60) looks really hard to beat here. Team Jolly trained mare that was a narrow second to stablemate and subsequent Valley winner Dexelation first up here. She then went to the Caulfield Sprint and was far from disgraced in defeat behind impressive winner Oxley Road. That was a Group ll so back home to an 86, she looks so well placed.
7 Outlaws Revenge (Bet Now:Β $2.60) is the fresh blood and could be dangerous here fresh for Ryan Balfour. Talented four year old that resumes after a strong 3YO campaign, where he won several races in town and was far from disgraced in the Tobin Bronze and Redelva. Trialled well leading in and can sprint well fresh.
1 Streetcar Stranger (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is a beauty for David Jolly that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since the latter part of the Autumn in Melbourne when down the track in the Straight Six at Flemington. Been given a good break with eyes towards the Melbourne Summer I would assume, and looks to have trialled well leading in.
Race 4. (14:47) Guinness (bm64) 1000m
3 Daily Spirit (Bet Now:Β $5.00) for me. Macdonald/Gluyas trained mare that resumes, having not raced since April 24 when running last in the Nitschke behind Incredulous Dream during the Adelaide Carnival. Resumes in a pretty weak 64 and just one soft jumpout under the belt, I think she’s been kept on the fresh side to explode first up. Hopefully the market agrees.
2 Ideas Man (Bet Now:Β $6.50) should be suited back to 64 grade for David Jolly. Has been in far stronger races in both runs back from a break and for the most part has been far from disgraced, the latest being two weeks ago behind stablemate Thompson’s Reward. That reads well for a 64.
8 Akkacan (Bet Now:Β $18.00) is a beauty that rarely wins, but can fill a first four spot. Ran over 1050m on the course proper here last Saturday and warmed to the task late in a good effort when third to Aston Rapova. He’ll get back in the run, likely spotting them a decent head start, but will be strong late.
Race 5. (15:27) Rdj Global Pty Ltd (bm60) 1300m
The gate is tricky for 7 Bella Royale (Bet Now:Β $4.00) but Lloyd Kennewell has had good recent success when returning home to SA for a raid. This mare has been ridden cold her past two and has worked home strongly each time. Not sure that pattern suits this track, but if she can get three wide and a drag into the race, she’ll be hard to hold out.
1 Mustari (Bet Now:Β $8.50) resumes here for the Stokes camp and I think he can resume a winner. Hasn’t raced since June 19 at Murray Bridge when a drifter in the market and ran accordingly, looking like a tired horse when down the track. Been given a good break and with two jumpouts under the belt, he’s ready to go.
3 African Awesome (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is a son of Fiorente first up for the Macdonald/Gluyas stable. He is better suited over further but I reckon can sprint well fresh in what looks a winnable 60. Last raced in April over 1700m at Gawler when second to Mavette, making good ground from the back. He’ll get back and be strong at the end.
Race 6. (16:02) Romeo's & Juliet Florist-bm68 1400m
3 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is racing like 1400m will suit for Michael Hickmott. He ran over 1200m three weeks ago where he seemed to have every chance. Was there to win when let down but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Noname Lane. If the 1400m is indeed what he’s after, he’ll take beating against this lot.
2 Hypercane (Bet Now:Β $11.00) should be suited up to 1400m for the Jolly camp. Resumed in the Noname Lane race from three weeks back on the course proper here. He was back off the speed and tried hard, but just lacked the change up speed when fourth. More upside than most, leading contender.
10 Ziavera (Bet Now:Β $14.00) can run a much improved race. Phillip Stokes trained mare that was hard in the market three weeks back when taking on the mares and didn’t finish the race off at all behind Hearty Lass. Should get a suck run from the draw and her best is good enough.
Race 7. (16:42) Emperor Sushi (bm64) 2250m
Complete throw at the stumps here in the shape of 12 Sostenido (Bet Now:Β $61.00), but it is that kind of race. His recent form, as a whole, is dreadful, but one thing I have noticed is that the recent runs have had female riders aboard and to my eye, he seems a bludger that needs someone strong to stand over him, so Potter booked I like and at big odds, he could be worth a small each way speck.
1 Mach One (Bet Now:Β $3.00) is racing well and is hard to beat here. Strong win two back at Bairnsdale. Then last time at Sale, it was just a total forgive. Wide no cover and doing work on a day where on speed/fence was gold. Looks like a stayer and often, these Victorian visitors are just better.
3 Flow Meter (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is an absolute beauty for the Hickmott/Riggs camp. Took his earnings past $700,000 with a super win from off the speed at Naracoorte two back, finishing best and on the line was drawing clear, then ran on Saturday and was far from disgraced behind Wild Imagination. Not sure he can win this, but he’s a first four threat.
Race 8. (17:20) A & E Romeo Happy Trails-bm76 1400m
13 Impossible Action (Bet Now:Β $4.80) for me. Team Jolly trained gelding that ran here two weeks ago. Bit one paced when the sprint went on but picked up and surged hard late to just miss out on the win when second to Renegade. Truly run 1400m suits, he’s hard fit and in form. Safe option.
Where on earth has this turn around in form from 8 Outpost (Bet Now:Β $7.50) come? He looked busted, but won at odds, then backed up a week later and won again. He then raced on the course proper here last Saturday and was dominant from the front, winning again. If he can stretch out to 1400m, he’ll take beating.
2 Renegade (Bet Now:Β $14.00) might be back on track. Hadn’t fired in two runs in Melbourne this prep, so the McEvoy camp brought him back to SA and was a strong winner at this track/distance, beating Impossible Action. Needs luck from the gate, but is racing in good form.
Race 9. (18:02) Locali By Romeo's (bm72) 1250m
5 Thrill Kill (Bet Now:Β $4.40) is four weeks between runs for Peter Hardacre since racing on the course proper here. He got a mile out of his ground and was never really a factor, but liked the way he finished his race off behind speedster The Billionaire. Reckon he’s better suited on the course proper, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
3 Tommy Blue (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is a Searle/Callanan trained mare that hasn’t raced for four weeks since sitting behind the speed on the course proper here and battled away okay in a leader dominated race won by Rock The Ring, who is the form horse in SA at the moment, so the form looks strong for this.
7 Hearty Lass (Bet Now:Β $8.50) has the talent to figure in the finish. Big win from off the speed a few weeks back, which followed a good effort on the Parks track after bombing the start. Her barrier manners are becoming an issue, but she is certainly good enough to take this out.
