Race One (12:34pm) : Westspeed Plate 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: This really looks a lovely race for London Line (Best Odds: $1.70), who has been good in two runs back from a break, including last Saturday when a closing second to Hot Goods. There is not Hot Goods here, and the step up to 1400m is perfect. Should be winning.
Big Danger: Kia Ora Koutou (Best Odds: $2.70) made his debut a couple of weeks back at Pinjarra and really caught the eye, charging home from the back to score quite a dominant win. Much harder here, but there is plenty to like about him.
Roughie: Sporting Image (Best Odds: $8.00) dropped back to the midweeks a fortnight back and led all the way to break his maiden in good style. He looks the leader, and though a query at 1400m, he should give a sight at odds.
Race Two (1:13pm) : Light Fingers 65 Galilee 66 Red Handed 67 Handicap (78) 2200m: Form Guide
Back Me: I think Justin Warwick will win the race. It’s just a matter of picking the right one, and I’ll go with the one with upside, which lies with Black Uma (Best Odds: $7.00) , who ran over 2000m here first up and attempted to lead all the way and he kicked very strongly but just felt the pinch late to run third to Drive West. He should improve sharply off that and looks the one to beat.
Big Danger: Mystic Prince (Best Odds: $3.80) has been racing very well since joining the Adam Durrant yard. He strung together a couple of impressive wins before being a touch unlucky last start behind in form galloper Drive West. Up to 2200m is ideal and Johnson-Porter retains the ride.
Roughie: Dubai Escapade (Best Odds: $7.00) is a ripper who is never far away from the action. He strung together two wins before racing here a fortnight back and working home strongly from near last to run second to Mystic Prince, who is the in form stayer in Perth at the moment. He is the clear class runner here, and gets in well at the weights after the claim for Jordan Turner.
Race Three (1:53pm) : Think Big 74 & 75 Gold And Black 77 Handicap (72+) 1600m: Form Guide
Back Me: Halo Express (Best Odds: $3.30) ran over 1400m here last Saturday and was given a peach from Pike to get the job done in impressive fashion. Slightly harder here, but he is third up, so there should be upside, and up to the mile is only beneficial.
Big Danger: The Director (Best Odds: $4.20) produced a booming finish from last to win last Saturday over this track/distance, with Pike again producing the goods to get the win. He sticks with Halo Express, but Azzopardi is on and he has ridden the horse to success in the past.
Roughie: Spin Da Wheels (Best Odds: $14.00) gets the blinkers on for the first time in his career. He ran behind The Director last weekend, and I thought he was a little unlucky given he got held up on a couple of occasions in the straight and couldn’t quite build up momentum. He can improve here and perhaps sneak a place.
Race Four (2:33pm) : Hyperno 79 Kingston Rule 90 Let’s Elope 91 Handicap (78+) 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: The drop in weight should really suit the Dan Morton trained Red Ora (Best Odds: $2.80), who had every chance last start, but couldn’t quite finish it off given he had to lump 58kg. Gets weight relief and Pike on.
Big Danger: Petrol Power (Best Odds: $6.00) is on the quick back up after racing over this track/distance last Saturday where he flashed home from near last to run a close up third in a thrilling finish. Brown rides the better horse than anyone, and he is back on now from a good gate.
Roughie: Crown Laywer (Best Odds: $14.00) has been given a month freshen up after racing quite flat over 1000m here when fifth to Woolibar. Couple of starts prior he ran a ripping fourth at Stakes level, so if he produces something similar here, he can threaten.
Race Five (3:09pm) : The Carbine Club Of WA- Apprentice’s Cup (60+) 2200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Putting Military Service (Best Odds: $8.50), who ran here last Saturday and got a fair way back before running on late to finish fourth to Ultimate Success. I like the fact he is on the quick back up, and Casey is riding in fabulous form at the moment.
Big Danger: Cougar Express (Best Odds: $2.70) ran second in that race mentioned above, and he was very brave in defeat given he was on speed for the entire trip and looked gone in the straight, but he picked up hard and almost grabbed back victory. Looks well weighted after the claim and should be in it for a long way.
Roughie: Holy Sky (Best Odds: $14.00) was a given a beaut steer from Jordan Turner to win over 2100m here two back before going to Kalgoorlie for a lead up to the Kalgoorlie Cup and he copped too much pressure in front when a close up fifth to Western Blaze. If he can get a softer lead here, he will take some stopping.
Race Six (3:45pm) : Farnley Stakes 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: At the weights, this really is Rebel King‘s (Best Odds: $4.40) race to lose. He ran a beauty last week in the Idyllic Prince when a close up second to in form type Wink And A Nod. He gets a 3.5kg weight pull on that mare, plus has gate one for Pike. Looks the winner.
Big Danger: Wink And A Nod (Best Odds: $3.20) does look the main threat. She sprouted wings to win the Idyllic Prince, charging home from near last in the straight to win. On numbers and weights, it’s hard seeing her win, but she should still run well.
Roughie: Rock Magic (Best Odds: $4.60) was ridden much closer to the speed in the Idyllic Prince, which is against his pattern, but he showed good fight in the straight to run a close third. Noske has options from the gate and he is the knockout chance.
Race Seven (4:20pm) : Saintly 96 Rogan Josh 99 Viewed 08 Handicap (66+) 1400m: Form Guide
Back Me: Coming Back (Best Odds: $3.40) was excellent in winning last Saturday, surging late to grab victory in the last few strides. This doesn’t look any harder, and Pike is back on, and he rides the horse very well.
Big Danger: Despite dropping back to 1400m, Galaxy Son (Best Odds: $8.50) is a definite winning chance. He ran over 1650m here last start and just savaged the line from the back to get the job done. He will get back again, but he only carries 52kg here and will be strong late.
Roughie: World Trader (Best Odds: $12.00) is on the quick back up after racing over this track/distance last start where he made up ground late when sixth to Halo Express, who goes around earlier in the day as a leading chance, so the form reference and how strong it is will be known by the time this race comes around. Nonetheless, he is a chance here.
Race Eight (5:00pm) : Vale J.B. ‘Bart’ Cummings OAM Handicap (60+) 1200m: Form Guide
Back Me: Tudor Bolt (Best Odds: $2.40) resumed over 1000m here a couple of weeks and despite being a drifter in betting, the up and comer was far too good for his rivals. Drawn terribly here, but there is upside with him and he looks very promising.
Big Danger: Chasing Chaos (Best Odds: $6.00) ran over this track/distance two weeks back and had absolutely no luck in the straight when ninth to Terrorize given he got badly checked in the straight when he was making his run. He won’t get caught up in traffic from the wide gate, and if they go hard, he’ll be charging late.
Roughie: Megafactory (Best Odds: $15.00) ran over this track/distance last Wednesday and fought on very strongly when running a close second to the handy type Conjob. Harder here, but he should get every chance from the gate and is a definite threat.
