Race One (13:20) : Australian Turf Club Handicap 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Country Warrior (Odds: $2.30) here for me in the opener. Trialled well behind the likes of Rubick and Ghibellines prior to his solid debut placing behind impressive type Wandjina on a bottomless track at Warwick Farm, so the rain won’t be an excuse if he gets beat here, which I highly doubt will occur given this race doesn’t have much depth.
Big Danger: I didn’t mind the trial win of Scissor Kick (Odds: $5.50) at Randwick recently, settling on the speed and pulling clear late under a nice hold from Christian Reith, who sticks with the $200,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale purchase for Paul Messara. Looks to have ability and goes in as a threat.
Roughie: Bachman (Odds: $3.80) ran an encouraging debut race in the Canonbury, running fourth to high class colt and now the retired Fighting Sun. Massive drop in class here and got through the wet ground on that day pretty well.

Race Two (13:55) : Tab iPad App Handicap (69) 1900m

Back Me: Mountain View (Odds: $6.00) has been quite good in two runs back from a break. Ran an encouraging fourth first up at Hawkesbury, then went to Newcastle and got the job done after getting the dream sit just off the pace. The stable though highly enough of him to run in the Spring Champion, where he was outclassed. Should be cherry ripe fitness wise now and when you consider his past form, he gets in well at the weights.
Big Danger: Amanpour (Odds: $2.25) led them a merry dance at Kensington last start, setting up a big lead and keeping on keeping on very hard late to win emphatically. Can handle the wet track and with the rail out also, leaders will be advantaged.
Roughie: Man Of Melody (Odds: $8.00) was somewhat of a surprise maiden winner at Kensington, drifting in the market and seemingly looking beat with 100m to go, but Cassidy lifted him over the line. The extra distance looks ideal and did win a barrier trial on a heavy track quite nicely earlier on in his career.

Race Three (14:30) : ATC Membership On Sale Handicap 1250m

Back Me: Bisutti (Odds: $5.50) tried her guts out last start at Warwick Farm, sitting outside the speed and fighting on gamely late to run third to Sweet Kiss. Has to go up in weight, but the extra 150m and barrier one will ensure she gets every chance.
Big Danger: Mesmereyeser (Odds: $4.60) was quite short in the betting first up at Wyong and sustained a long run out wide to get the job done there. Has shown promise during her career, racing alongside the likes of Missy Longstocking and Champagne Cath. Hard to beat.
Roughie: Dublin Lass (Odds: $2.70) did plenty wrong down the Hawkesbury straight last start, but still proved far too good for her rivals, winning comfortably and running good time. There’s always been a wrap on this filly since she first trialled, and we saw raceday evidence. Keen to see her here.

Race Four (15:05) : Big Sports Breakfast Handicap 1250m

Back Me: Good race for the three year old boys. Trumped (Odds: $3.75) showed plenty of ticker on a bottomless Wyong surface last start, leading all the way and outplugging his rivals. Start before he ran second to the well above average Interspersed at Newcastle and on debut he ran second to subsequent city winner Green Empire, so he has the form on the board, rock hard fit, maps well…looks the way to go.
Big Danger: Torqueflite (Odds: $4.40) is a beautifully bred gelding, being by Street Cry out of star race mare and now broodmare Virage De Fortune. She led most of the way to win on debut, beating home Happy Meteor, a horse highly regarded by connections. The mum handled the wet quite well, and the Street Cry progeny swim, so he must go in as a threat.
Roughie: Rock Sturdy (Odds: $5.00) was excellent on debut at Warwick Farm, sitting near the pace and fighting on so well late when a narrow second to Himation. He’ll be better as the distances increase, and with that tough run under the belt, expect him to be in the finish.

Race Five (15:42) : Drummond Golf Handicap (75) 1550m

Back Me: Sticking solid with Clever Boy (Odds: $6.00) , who again worked to the line strongly late over this track/distance a couple of weeks back behind Projectile. The key to this horse is getting back to a wet track, where he improves several lengths on. Should sit much closer from the good draw, Cassidy sticks, he looks one of the better bets on the program.
Big Danger: Revengeful (Odds: $4.60) knuckled down powerfully late to the bikkies last time out at Kensington despite no confidence in the betting ring. That was his second run back from a break, so I am tipping there is still improvement left in him, plus he is bred to get through the going.
Roughie: I didn’t mind the closing stages of Platinum Jack’s (Odds: $35.00) first up run at Kembla Grange, sitting last in a slowly run race yet worked to the line better than anything to run fourth. He never runs well fresh, so the fact he did on that occasion tells me he is in for a really good prep and can certainly finish top four with luck in running.

Race Six (16:20) : Hyland Race Colours Handicap (75) 1550m

Back Me: Putting the Taree mare Shazza’s Bubbles (Odds: $9.00) on top. She trialled superbly on her home track behind her well performed stablemate Single Spirit prior to a barnstorming placing at Doomben behind Little Bit Ditsy, an up and coming mare from Queensland. She is flying at the moment, and although the wet track is a concern, she is going too well for me to not ignore her.
Big Danger: Saigon Tea (Odds: $3.80) was given a peach steer by Tommy Berry to get the job done last time out at Warwick Farm, beating home a couple of horses who face her again here. That was her second run under the care of Chris Waller, so she has upside and loves the mud.
Roughie: Amarachi (Odds: $6.50) looked the winner in that race at Warwick Farm, but was outgunned late by Saigon Tea. Does get a slight weight pull on that mare here, and does have the extra run under her belt this prep. Can turn the tables with luck in running.

Race Seven (17:00) : Canterbury Park Handicap (75) 1200m

Back Me: Murder Of Crows (Odds: $3.80) to finish the day off for me. Hasn’t been seen since late October when a disappointing fifth at Warwick Farm. Only trialled once and that was behind star mare and stablemate Red Tracer. He looked quite sharp there and that’s good enough for me here.
Big Danger: Oxford Heat (Odds: $5.50) tried very hard late when a close up fifth to Sweet Kiss at Warwick Farm. That tough outing should bring her on big time for this, drawn well and is only 1kg over the minimum.
Roughie: The knockout horse here is We Have A Winner (Odds: $7.00), who was given a gun ride in front by James McDonald at Gosford and won quite impressively, pulling clear late. He has always been a city class horse, but he needed a confidence boost, and he got it there.
