Belmont will play host to a nine race meeting on Saturday where it is Raconteur Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:57) TABTOUCH-WESTSPEED PLAT.-RS0MW 1400m
3 I’m Pretty (Bet Now: $3.60) on top for me in a tricky race. Adam Durrant trained made that resumes, having not raced since November 28 when far from disgraced in defeat at Ascot. Trialled super in readiness for her return and was scratched from last Saturday in preference for this.
8 Petite La Femme (Bet Now: $7.00) is still a maiden but gee she is racing well and is nearing a win I feel. She was very good from the back here last time out, spotting them a decent start but worked home with purpose. If she’s within range on the turn, I think she can be dangerous.
6 Interstate (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Neville Parnham trained four year old that is first up. His last run was over 1800m at Ascot when far from disgraced in defeat when third to Miss Marita, who at the time was flying. Resumes without a trial, but does have solid form lines around him.
Race 2. (14:37) OLD MATE'S SPORTS BAR (BM62+) 1000m
I’ll take a chance with 2 Brooklyn Pier (Bet Now: $3.30), a talented three year old for Neville Parnham that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since September last year towards the end of the the Belmont season in 2020 and the form around him from then was really good. Trialled well to get ready and should land in a lovely spot from the draw.
3 Sunnysilk (Bet Now: $9.50) saves her best for the 1000m and that was clearly evident when winning last Wednesday at this track/distance. Back from 1200m, she landed on speed and was too strong and too tough. Draws well, puts herself out of trouble near the front and will run a bold race.
7 Time Scale (Bet Now: $5.50) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1100m at Ascot. She got a fair way back in the run and worked home pretty well when third to Hot Zed. She does look to have very strong form around her and if she’s within range 400m out, she can get the job done.
Race 3. (15:17) AMELIA PARK PLATE 1000m
Playing a straight bat with 1 Ultimate Command (Bet Now: $1.80) for Neville Parnham. This filly is four weeks between runs since racing over 1100m at Ascot where she had a great battle with stablemate Flying Missile, with that filly just getting the better. Fresh legs back to 1000m, she’s clearly the one to beat.
9 Galaxy Cat (Bet Now: $19.00) is a daughter of Star Turn for David Harrison that resumes. Had a three run Spring prep to start her career, which ended with a down the track effort in the Crystal Slipper. Interesting she resumes without a trial but the form around her does read well.
3 Acefire (Bet Now: $16.00) is a knockout chance. Roy Rogers trained juvenile that was unwanted in betting when debuting here two weeks ago. Had a suck run behind the speed and fought on pretty well in defeat behind Flying Missile. That form does look quite strong for this.
Race 4. (15:57) CROWN PERTH (BM78+) 2200m
Interesting that in a 23 start career to date, 2 Adornment (Bet Now: $1.85) is yet to race at Belmont. But. she is a mare in form and Pike is sticking. He rode her a treat to get the win three weeks ago over the mile at Ascot, coming with a well timed run from off the speed. Jumps straight to 2200m, but I’m not one to doubt Adam Durrant.
1 Bella’s Idol (Bet Now: $4.00) should run his usual honest race. Was a month between runs when racing at this track/distance two weeks ago. He tried hard from near the speed, but was no match for the very much in form Marocchino. Gets in well after the claim and form around him is strong.
7 Mosseratti (Bet Now: $12.00) is on the seven day back up after racing here last Saturday. He sat back in the field before making a move, three and four wide. He loomed to be some sort of threat but that early burn just told late and he tired. With a more economical run in transit, he can be dangerous.
Race 5. (16:40) FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PK-BM66+ 1000m
I think back to 1000m is perfect for 9 Dew West (Bet Now: $18.00). 12/10 steer from Pike saw her win three weeks ago at Ascot, and no doubt the ride won the race, which was 1100m. I reckon that sees her right out so back to 1000m I do like and big tick for her is that Pike does stick.
The draw looks sticky for 1 Long Beach (Bet Now: $9.50) but he does have class/quality on his side. Second up here for Adam Durrant since resuming at Ascot three weeks back when wide no cover for the trip and just feeling the pinch late behind Panzdown. Better luck this time around and he can win.
2 Night Voyage (Bet Now: $23.00) is a Martin Allan trained veteran resuming. Hasn’t raced since Feb 13 at Ascot when down the track behind Mood Swings after sitting three and four wide no cover for the trip. Resumes without a trial, but can sprint well fresh and saves his best for Belmont.
Race 6. (17:15) BLUESTONE (RS1MW) 1600m
5 Tri For Us (Bet Now: $2.15) looks the safe option. Adam Durrant trained filly that was a strong winner at this track/distance two weeks ago. Lobbed into a lovely spot behind the speed and once Parnham gave her clear air and clicked her up, she was too good. Only has to hold her form and think she wins again.
8 I’m Eugene (Bet Now: $27.00) is a very interesting runner. Strong winner fresh over 1200m before stepping up to 1300m where he was wide no cover for the trip and felt the pinch late. Interesting he steps up to the mile and with a better barrier this time around, he can run a much improved race.
1 My Fair Balentine (Bet Now: $26.00) might need one more but is capable. Resumed behind Tri For Us a fortnight ago where she was back in the run and couldn’t really make up much ground. Better suited over a bit further so might need the run but I’d include her in wider exotics.
Race 7. (17:50) RACONTEUR STAKES 1400m
Team Williams rarely get it wrong when they back up a week later so happy to butter up with 7 Graceful Girl (Bet Now: $2.15). Smart win from this filly last Saturday over 1200m, producing a strong finale from off the pace to score. Racing as if she will eat up the new trip and is in the right camp.
9 Allmamoney (Bet Now: $14.00) should appreciate getting out in trip and being fitter. Had a freshen up prior to racing here two weeks ago in what was pretty much a prep run for this race and she closed off well late with an eye towards this race. Fitter, she will take some beating.
2 Billy Ain’t Silly (Bet Now: $3.90) is a beauty for Colin Webster that will be out of trouble on speed and giving his all. Massive win from him two weeks ago here. He took on some talented, seasoned campaigners, and he was just too tough and too good. Good test for him here, but he’s up to it I feel.
Race 8. (18:20) FURPHY (BM72+) 1200m
I want to give 8 Chantorque (Bet Now: $9.50) another chance. I was really keen on her chances when she raced here two weeks ago but the market push against her suggested otherwise and voila, she flops and pulls up lame post race. Her best is good enough so want to give her another look.
7 Special Choice (Bet Now: $5.50) is three weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance. Thought Pike gave her a peach steer from just off the speed and she tried hard to get the win. Just couldn’t quite get there when a close up third to Son Of Bacchus. Think that form reads well for this.
1 Excellent Dream (Bet Now: $6.00) is a talented four year old for Lindsey Smith that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since March 20 when an impressive winner at Ascot over 1200m. No trials to get ready but stable usually have them ready to go fresh. Just want a market push.
Race 9. (18:50) COOL RIDGE (BM66+) 1400m
Fitter and up to 1400m looks idea for 11 Bright Diamond (Bet Now: $1.80). Team Williams trained four year old that resumed over 1200m here two weeks ago and if you were on, apologies for bringing up the nightmare. She should have won, but just had no luck at all getting clear at the right stage. Rub of the green this time around and she’ll be too good.
9 Angelic Miss (Bet Now: $9.00) should appreciate the rise to 1400m. Simon Miller trained mare that ran over 1300m a fortnight back here and worked home strongly from the back when third to Magniforce. She is racing like she wants further, which she gets here. Just needs luck from the draw.
Back to 1400m I find interesting with 3 Gunnago (Bet Now: $71.00). I was keen on his chances last time out over the mile here, but he failed to fire a shot and was very plain I thought behind Billy Ain’t Silly. Back to 1400m is the query, and as to how well he’s going, but his best is good enough to sneak a first four spot at a price.
