The Parks track at Morphettville is where SA racing will be held this Saturday. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres from the 1000m-400m; True for the remainder.

Race One (13:08) : Schweppes Handicap (82) 1950m:
Back Me: The bubble may have burst on 2 Allez Tara (Bet Now: $3.80) last time out, but he was far from disgraced in running third to the in form Weir runner Try Four. He’ll roll along once again, and there isn’t as much depth here. If he goes back to his previous form, he’ll do a spank job on this lot.
Big Danger: 4 Devon (Bet Now: $10.00) looks a threat. He has really found a purple patch in recent times on the dirt at Port Augusta, winning his last three by a combined total of nearly 35 lengths. Has to translate that to the turf and against stronger opposition, but overall this is a thin race.
Roughie: 1 Flying Casino (Bet Now: $31.00) was just too bad to be true when resuming six weeks ago behind Cavaloce, finishing off a tailed off last after being inconvenienced at the start. He is much better than that and he does have a pretty solid record on the Parks track. Sharp improver here.
Race Two (13:43) : UBET Handicap (82) 2400m:
Back Me: Going with 6 Mr Andre (Bet Now: $7.50). He is on the back up after racing last Saturday on the course proper where he attempted to lead all the way and gave a tremendous kick but was just outgunned late and had to settle for a game third. Clearly inferior race here, he’ll be on speed, out of trouble…hard to beat for sure.
Big Danger: 1 Tunes (Bet Now: $3.00) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and closed okay late I thought from the back to run fifth to Try Four. He was beaten 11 lengths, but that was a strong race with depth and he was making ground. This looks more his go and he has the potential to roll forward.
Roughie: 5 Kiwi Colleen (Bet Now: $9.00) comes through the Try Four race also she got a long way back in the run and just stayed there. This looks more her level and there is not as much depth here. Small field helps her and is a knockout chance.
Race Three (14:23) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (70) 1250m:
Back Me: 3 Serenely Discreet (Bet Now: $3.10) resumes here for the Stokes yard and has to be respected. She had one run during the Carnival in a Stakes race and closed off strongly behind Modern Wonder. Gawler trial looked solid and she has been nominated for the Thousand Guineas. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 1 Rampage (Bet Now: $3.00) is a talented Hayes/Dabernig filly that raced here a fortnight back and looked a shade unlucky I thought behind Benz given she had to duck and weave her way through and couldn’t really get a proper run. Neilson on from a good draw and though there is quality here, she’s fit.
Roughie: 2 Arrow Lane (Bet Now: $8.00) ran over 1500m on the course proper last Saturday where she finished midfield behind Vienna Miss where I just think she didn’t run the trip out I suspect. Back to 1250m and back on the Parks track are two big ticks.
Race Four (14:58) : Kate Dansie Handicap (75) 1250m:
Back Me: 1 Counter Spin (Bet Now: $8.00) is knocking on the door to win and he gets his chance here. He ran over 1300m here three weeks back where he loomed to win the race but couldn’t quite get it done and had to settle for third to Outlandish Lad and Mihany. Drop a fair bit in depth here and the claim for Eran Boyd is a big tick.
Big Danger: 8 Snake Charmer (Bet Now: $4.20) is on the back up after racing last Saturday on the course proper where she was first up and did a remarkable job to finish as close as she did given she was tardy away and was stuck wide no cover for the trip. Provided that gutbuster hasn’t effected her, she’ll go close.
Roughie: 9 Tycoon Sofie (Bet Now: $6.00) resumed on the course proper a month back where she chased hard all the way but couldn’t quite reel in Victorian mare Raven’s Fire, who failed last week, so the form is suspect, but the big key for this mare is the Parks track, where she has a fab record on. Hard to beat.
Race Five (15:38) : Fred Vella Tyre & Crash Handicap (82) 1400m:
Back Me: 7 Dane Hussler (Bet Now: $15.00) looks a good bet now with the scratchings. Best form is over much further, but gee she looked to trial well at Tatura, winning that under no pressure from Michael Walker. Claim is a big tick and though drawn wide, her class and quality, I think, gets her home.
Big Danger: 10 Niccoco (Bet Now: $3.00) resumed over 1250m two weeks ago where he worked home okay without threatening when fourth to Mr Liberty. He will appreciate the step up to 1400m, he’s fitter and does have the class and quality factor.
Roughie: 9 Mio Dio (Bet Now: $12.00) ran over 1550m on the Parks track a fortnight ago and for mine he just didn’t run the trip behind Sandhill Warrior. Back to 1400m is ideal and he should take some beating here I think.
Race Six (16:18) : Cove Print Handicap (70) 1000m:
Back Me: 3 Lope De Capio (Bet Now: $2.80) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and was given a 12/10 steer from form rider Jamie Kah to get the job done narrowly but impressively in a similar race. Creeping up in the weights, but it’s hard to get away from his turn of foot and desire to win last time out. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 7 Ixcatan (Bet Now: $12.00) closed off strongly three weeks ago at this track/distance behind War Thunder after getting a fair way back in the run due to the strong tempo. He normal pattern is to race handy, but last start showed he can be ridden off speed, and with a couple of speed demons engaged here, cover might be the best option.
Roughie: 5 Magnusificent (Bet Now: $26.00) comes here off the back of some ripping form on the dirt at Port Augusta where he has won three of his past four, with the flop coming on the course proper here behind War Thunder after sitting on a hot speed. He has shown previously he is capable on the turf and this isn’t an overly strong race.
Race Seven (16:58) : Leigh Hoey Handicap (64) 1250m:
Back Me: 7 Wind Force (Bet Now: $4.40) was backed to win when racing on the course proper four weeks back but he just didn’t show any turn of foot at all when finishing midfield behind War Thunder. The plus is that War Thunder won well recently to frank the form. Very good on his best form is Wind Force, so don’t drop off…yet.
Big Danger: 13 Drover Mad (Bet Now: $16.00) finally broke the maiden status in impressive fashion a tick over two weeks ago at Gawler, sitting back in the ruck before producing a lovely turn of foot to get the job done. Always promised to be a Saturday class horse and now that the win is out of the way and under the belt, I think he can go on with it.
Roughie: 2 Lord Topper (Bet Now: $8.50) ran over 1000m here a fortnight back and closed okay from the back without threatening when sixth to Lope de Capio, beaten just under six lengths. Drops a bit in depth here IMO, and I think the big tick is up to 1250m. Crying out for more ground and he gets it here.
Race Eight (17:40) : Goldin Farms Handicap (70) 1400m:
Back Me: 1 Arctic Song (Bet Now: $3.50) on top for me in the get out stakes. He raced over this track/distance three weeks ago where he looked the winner for most of the straight but simply had no answer for the in form Marco Polo. Claim for Finnegan helps, draws well…gets his chance I think.
Big Danger: 13 Patch Hero (Bet Now: $5.50) ran fifth to Marco Polo in that race mentioned above where she seemingly had the charmed run behind the speed and on face value, she was disappointing. The win prior though was sharp and she was 31 days between runs, so I think she’ll be better off here and Kah is back on.
Roughie: 3 Galaxy Gazer (Bet Now: $7.00) ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he did a power of work to sit on speed with no cover before giving a really good kick, only to be grabbed late by Force Of Three. Draws awkwardly again, but I think he’ll get cover this time around and looms as a major contender.
