30/6/2018 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Racing in Adelaide this Saturday heads to the course proper at Morphettville for an eight race card. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

He’s hard to trust but I’ll just side with 3 Super Haze (Bet Now: $3.80). He had been teasing for a while to win a race this time in and it finally came about a fortnight back over 2400m on the Parks track when ridden an absolute treat near the speed by Andrew Mallyon. Extra 200m is no issue…interesting to note his record on the course proper isn’t great reading.

2 Red Alto (Bet Now: $5.00) is bursting to win a race but is just finding one or two better on the day. That was the case a fortnight back over 2400m on the Parks track where he got back but worked home strongly to just miss out on picking up Super Haze. He should have no trouble with the 2600m and has to be included.

7 Euroman (Bet Now: $6.00) is just over two weeks between runs since racing over 2400m at Sandown where he got a mile back in the run but was good late behind the very talented Hang Man. Trialled last week over the jumps to tune up and looked pretty good, and the 2600m will be ideal for this Weir galloper. Key threat.

6 Vietti (Bet Now: $2.15) just gets the nod for me in what looks a pretty solid race for the babies. This daughter of I Am Invincible is on debut for the Tony McEvoy team who has trialled well on a couple of occasions for her first day at the races, the latest seeing her bolt up last week here in good time. Shocked if she didn’t measure up.

1 Assertive Play (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Phillip Stokes trained filly who did a really good job on debut over the 1050m here a fortnight ago, sitting wide throughout but produced a lovely turn of foot to just get the job done over the above average Thorondor. The lack of vigour from Bowditch on the runner up probably got this girl the win, but she did get the job done, which you have to give her a tick for.

2 Toolbar (Bet Now: $12.00) can fill a place for the in form George Osborne team. Ran in a 2YO maiden on the Parks track four weeks ago where he was off the speed and chased hard when third to the very impressive No Joy. Looks to be a bit more depth here, but I like Johnny Allen going aboard and should get a good run from the gate.

7 Divanation (Bet Now: $2.30) on top. Tony McEvoy trains this filly, who debuted over the Werribee mile just over a month back where she settled off the pace and once Currie clicked her up with some clear air, she let down pretty strongly and was far too good for her rivals. Been freshened up and her trial a couple of weeks back at Gawler looked pretty good.

5 Canford (Bet Now: $3.40) is bursting to win another race and he gets a great chance. Ran over the mile a fortnight ago and if you were on, it was such an ugly watch. Sakai could have taken the run inside the leader but instead kept probing to come outside, but he couldn’t get clear and is on the podium for the good thing beat of 2018. Clear air, he can bounce back.

9 Ashady Hussy (Bet Now: $12.00) ran fourth in the Turnpike race over the mile here two weeks back and she did a relatively good job in defeat I thought when running fourth after getting back and wide in the run. She’s racing as if 1800m will suit and while I doubt she can win, I reckon she is a must for exotics here.

8 Choisborder (Bet Now: $2.25) should be winning. Been a fan of this bloke since day one for the Weir camp. Had let the punters down in his first two runs this time in, but rewarded their patience with a commanding performance at Bendigo despite not being entirely happy on the bog. Now his confidence is up, he can go on with it.

5 Aadelad (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Francis/Kent trained gelding racing in near career best form at the moment. Closed off well first up at Balaklava behind Boldacious Girl before racing at Strathalbyn where he was backed hard late and aided by a peach of a ride in front from Gary Lo, he proved too good. Toughest test to date, but he has earned a crack.

I wouldn’t back 7 Mysticano (Bet Now: $12.00) if my life depended on it. Very hard to trust, but in saying that, I thought he was really good a fortnight back at this track/distance when a close up third to the above average Air Guitar. He doesn’t win out of turn, but good gate and senior jock on, he can fill a place spot.

Happy to be with 11 Exalted Lauretta (Bet Now: $7.00) for the in form Grant Young. This girl contested some really good races during the Autumn Carnival and was far from disgraced. Spelled, resumed without a trial at Strathalbyn and despite appearing quite big in condition, her class came to the fore. Should come right on from that and prove hard to beat.

5 Danger Deal (Bet Now: $4.80) is the interesting runner. 1600m back to the six furlongs is a tough ask but he does have a touch of class and quality over these. Ran over the mile here a fortnight back and had his chance to win, but he threw it away and cost himself the win when second to Turnpike. He’ll be strong late…will he have the zip?

1 Modulate (Bet Now: $12.00) is an Ambidexter gelding resuming for the Richard Jolly team. This bloke had a very solid Summer/Autumn campaign, highlighted by a win over 1500m at Gawler (Metro). Thought he trialled well enough last week here behind Rushwa and he can pull out a decent run fresh. Big watch for sure.

6 Silvera (Bet Now: $2.90) gets his chance to win a race but this is D-Day for him. I think you have to forgive him for his run three weeks back over 1800m at Flemington given he was wide no cover throughout. Never likely after and did drop out early on in the straight but he wasn’t too bad the final 150m behind Balcazar/Jaminzah. Up to 2000m, hard fit…last chance.

9 Top Prospect (Bet Now: $3.50) is a former kiwi now with Darren Weir and Australian Bloodstock who made his Australian debut over the Bendigo mile where he never seemed entirely happy on the bog but was sound in defeat behind Kaching. He’ll love firmer footing here, and 2000m second up looks ideal. Ticks plenty of boxes here for mine.

11 Igitur (Bet Now: $31.00) has produced a couple of ripping runs to kick off the prep for Emma Hubbard. Eye catching fifth first up behind Going Gaga before over the mile here a fortnight ago and again closing off well from the back behind Wasabi Bob. Up to 2000m third up looks ideal…just wish the race was a touch easier.

7 Red Choux‘s (Bet Now: $4.80) gets the nod for me. Really good resumption at Geelong behind Recalculate before going to Sandown where he got back in an on pace dominated affair and just couldn’t make the ground up in time behind Wenner. Third up at the mile, back to this sort of depth, gee he should take some holding out.

13 Star Patriot (Bet Now: $13.00) is a bit hit and miss for Travis Doudle but she’s certainly capable of winning with her best form. Tough win two back on the Parks track before racing at this track/distance where she was wide no cover for the trip and the early work told late behind Wasabi Bob. Just needs cover to figure in the finish.

6 Steel Prince (Bet Now: $11.00) is a former Irish galloper for Darren Weir who made his Australian debut over the 1700m at Warrnambool last Thursday and just didn’t look happy on the bog track behind Silver Stratum. He’ll be much better on firmer footing and does have enormous upside. Expecting a much better performance.

Pretty keen on 1 Artie Dee Two (Bet Now: $3.00) for the Weir camp. He’s got some really good form next to his name, the latest coming at the Valley when running a narrow second to the above average Godolphin galloper Eusebio. Drops a fair bit in depth here and John Allen takes the ride. He’ll do me in the get out.

Looks a lovely race for the SA debut of 11 Its Time For Magic (Bet Now: $3.90), a former Chris Waller mare now with Will Clarken, and once again, I’ll say this bloke is one of the best in Australia at improving tried horses. First run for the stable and she looked great to the eye in a recent trial here behind the well performed Nodoubtaboutit. She’s got to be respected.

2 Vieira (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Keano gelding for Leah Conlon who scored a tough on speed win two back on the Parks track before going to the Valley where he was again on speed and did well in defeat behind the above average Eusebio. Back home now and does have the hard fitness under the belt, so he ticks a few boxes.
