Saturday metro racing in Queensland will make a rare trip to the Sunshine Coast this Saturday for Sunshine Coast Cup Day. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:27) : Coastline BMW 3 Series Handicap 2200m:

Back Me: 6 Annaman (Bet Now: $5.00) is a horse I did bar myself from tipping/backing, but he gets a free pass after his strong effort last start in the Magic Millions Trophy where he got back to near last in the run and closed off his race hard without threatening when midfield to Stratum Star. Significant drop in depth, and really, if he brings that run here, game over.
Big Danger: 1 Shoreham (Bet Now: $6.00) is on the seven day turn around after racing over the mile at Eagle Farm last Saturday where he sat on speed and fought on quite well in defeat when third to surprise winner Transporter. He has won up to 2500m, so the 2200m here is no issue, plus he has the most upside of this lot.
Long Shot: 2 Outraged (Bet Now: $18.00) also comes through the Magic Millions Trophy and I thought his effort wasn’t too bad in defeat considering he was back last in the run and just had too much to do from there. This looks his right level and he does have a tidy record at the Sunny Coast, capable of a sharp bounce back.

Race Two (14:02) : Coastline BMW X4 Plate 1600m:

Back Me: 4 Doubt Defying (Bet Now: $6.00) ran well without much luck two back at Eagle Farm behind Winning Rupert before going to Doomben where he was backed as if unbeatable but unfortunately for his supporters, it was an absolute nightmare as he never really got a clear crack at them. Sunny Coast mile, has the form on the board, finishes strong…yep, he’ll do me.
Big Danger: 11 Ahndras (Bet Now: $4.80) was a beaten odds on pop when resuming at the Gold Coast but Jeff Lloyd got on her at Doomben and made amends with the punters with a comfortable win as an even money favourite. She did look sharp at the trials and the two runs this time in indicate she has come back in a really good frame of mind for the new stable.
Long Shot: 8 King Of Monaco (Bet Now: $71.00) is a two start maiden but he is showing a bit of promise for Melissa Leitch. Both runs have come at Ipswich, starting off over 1350m when running third before stepping up to 1700m and beating all bar Lyra. That does tell us he will have no trouble with the trip and while he lacks the class, he might be one for wider exotics.

Race Three (14:37) : Coastline BMW 7 Series Plate (Class 3) 1600m:

Back Me: 8 The Amateur  (Bet Now: $3.70) is a horse who is building up a tidy little record at the moment for the Toby Edmonds yard. He has won his past two starts, starting off with a five length romp in a 1400m maiden here before going to the Doomben mile where he dominated from the front and gave nothing else a look in. 1800m should be no issue, and despite the more depth engaged here, I am keen to be in his corner.
Big Danger: 15 Sahara Siren (Bet Now: $14.00) is a talented mare for Alan Jones who has raced very well in recent times. Ran home well two back over 1800m at Eagle Farm behind Saga Miss before coming back to 1500m and finishing off okay behind Cheval Le Vent. Suited back up to the mile and she saves her best for the Sunny Coast.
Long Shot: 11 Hesitation (Bet Now: $11.00) can be a bit hit and miss at times but I think she is slowly getting back on track. She ran over 1350m at Doomben where she got back in the run and though taking her time to wind up, she was good late in a slowly run race won by the leader Alassak. She will like the spacious surroundings this track offers and they will go at a good gallop in front.

Race Four (15:12) : Coastline BMW 2YO Classic 1200m:

Back Me: 1 Snitzkraft (Bet Now: $1.35) is a well performed filly for Kelso Wood who looks the hardest to beat off the back of an eight length spank job of her rivals at Doomben last time out where she started prohibitive odds and didn’t let her supporters. That followed two efforts behind the above average Ours To Keep, so she ticks alot of boxes here.
Big Danger: 8 Lady Lark (Bet Now: $9.00) created a big impression when debuting at the midweeks at Eagle Farm, sitting on speed before Fradd pushed the button and the filly just showed an electric turn of foot to spank them. Outside the top tip, this race isn’t strong, so if Snitzkraft is off her game, this is the filly to be on.
Long Shot: 9 Mrs Quigley (Bet Now: $61.00) trialled well here in September before being tipped out. She made her raceday debut at Ipswich a fortnight back and safe to say she should have bolted in but just had no luck in the straight when appearing to have plenty to offer. Rises significantly in depth, but is trained on the track and clearly has talent.

Race Five (15:52) : Coastline BMW 4 Series Handicap 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Secret Mo  (Bet Now: $12.00) for me here and with some confidence. He was odds on when debuting over this track/distance on New Years Day where he sat on speed under Browne and from there it was pretty painless as he drew clear late to win impressively and run sharp time. On that effort, he can measure up to these, and beat them.
Big Danger: 1 Manaya (Bet Now: $2.40) is clearly the best horse in the race but it will be very interesting to see how she returns here. The close relation t Hot Danish created a big impression on debut during the Scone Carnival, winning a Stakes race. Tipped out and resumed in the Silver Shadow where she bled behind Omei Sword. No trials and drawn the carpark, but if she is anywhere near her best, she’ll give this a shake.
Long Shot: 14 Bold Gypsy (Bet Now: $21.00) ran over 1000m at Ipswich a fortnight back and was very good in defeat behind the talented Remlap’s Joy. She had the nice sit just off the pace and presented to win the race but couldn’t get past the Vandyke runner. Does run well on her home track here and looks a definite threat based on that last start effort.

Race Six (16:32) : Coastline BMW X1 Handicap (Class 6) 1800m:

Back Me: Really keen on 3 Arki (Bet Now: $4.20) here. He is a really promising galloper for Kelly Doughty who has won three from three this time in and gee he has been impressive at each occasion. Blitzed them in an Origin Jockey Series race at Eagle Farm before going to the mile here where he chased a hot speed yet ambled to the front at the top of the straight and bolted in. 1800m looks perfect for him and I think there is upside left.
Big Danger: 4 Sentimental Prince (Bet Now: $2.15) is a gelding who has been absolutely lethal in two runs back from a break for the Gollan camp. Made a mess of them fresh at Ipswich over 1350m before stepping up to the Doomben mile last Wednesday and despite getting back in the ruck, he again just savaged the line and won with real authority. He is a winner at the Sunny Coast and being third up, I think there will be upside left. Rates highly.
Long Shot: 13 Canongate (Bet Now: $61.00) has had two runs back from a break now for Brian Smith, the latest coming over 1500m at Eagle Farm when hlding his spot and sticking on okay behind Cheval Le Vent. Looks ideally suited up to 1800m third up and he does tend to like racing at the Sunny Coast.

Race Seven (17:12) : Coastline BMW Sunshine Coast Cup 1400m:

Back Me: 17 Banda Spice (Bet Now: $13.00) is a mare who is absolutely low flying at the moment for the Stuart Kendrick stable. She has won three on the bounce, the latest coming over 1400m at Eagle Farm when ridden an absolute treat near the speed by Tye Angland to hold on and get the win. I think she will be better ridden with cover and launching late, so if that eventuates, she’ll take some beating.
Big Danger: 8 Sold For Song (Bet Now: $5.50) comes back home to QLD after running in the Chester Manifold (1400m) at Flemington where she had no hope the way the tempo was but she was really good late nearer the inside behind Grande Rosso. Very good record at the Sunny Coast and she’ll be finishing off better than most.
Long Shot: 4 Steel Zip (Bet Now: $17.00) is a greybeard who should get a suck run behind the speed so I will include him as a blowout prospect. He ran in the QTIS race on Magic Millions Day and just had to do too much work from the wide gate behind Madotti. Draws much better here and Day remains on, plus the horse does run well here.

Race Eight (17:48) : Coastline BMW Handicap (85) 1200m:

Back Me: 13 Oberland (Bet Now: $7.50) is an above average type for Rob Heathcoate who does look well placed here. He resumed over this track/distance and was very solid in defeat I thought when running third to I Am The Sculptor, who has run since and done well without winning. He then raced over the same track/distance on December 21 and duly saluted impressively. Does run well third up and the form around him from last prep reads well for a race like this.
Big Danger: 15 Our Lady Mac (Bet Now: $9.50) was unwanted in betting when resuming at Eagle Farm on December 28 but she defied that market drift and aided by a confident on speed steer from Jeff Lloyd, the daughter of Snippetson proved much too good for his rivals. She is a two time second up winner and that fresh was a good indicator she has come back in the right frame of mind.
Long Shot: 9 Darciwood (Bet Now: $26.00) is a former Team Hawkes trained galloper that has had two runs in Queensland for the Hulbert camp and he has been quite good each start, both coming here. Started off over 1000m when finding Sundance too nippy before stepping up to 1200m where he was much when second to Divine Service. Third up now, so he should be ready fitness wise and if he showed any signs of his Sydney form, he’d spank these.
