28/8/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Kembla Grange, San Domenico Stakes day

A bumper ten race card has been assembled for Kembla Grange this Saturday where it is San Domenico Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (10) and the rail is out four metres from the 1100m-Winning Post; Out two metres for the remainder.

5 Danzadel (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) is bursting to win a Highway and she gets her chance here for Terry Robinson. Ran in a Class 3 Highway at this track/distance two weeks ago when near the speed and battling on really well in defeat behind Commando Hunt. Back to a Class 2, hard fit, in form, she’s likeable.

4 Hurn Court (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS) has always shown good ability but had keep finding one or two better on the day. That has changed in recent times, winning two on the bounce. Dominant maiden win at Scone before heading to Muswellbrook where he was wide with cover but was trucking in the run before peeling into clear air and finishing over the top. He can measure up for sure.

3 Foodie King (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) will have admirers. Former Kiwi that has done a good job since arriving in Australia. Impressive first up win over 1300m before coming back in trip his next couple, the latest an eye catching effort over 1100m at Bathurst on Monday. This looks to be a target race, so watch the market.

The forecast for rain is music to the ears of 5 Bowery Breeze (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) and her connections. She is flying and when she gets her toe in, she is even more effective. Ran in a Midway here two weeks ago when well supported despite being on a very firm deck and she closed off strongly when second, her first run in two months. If the rain does come during the week, which the forecast says it will, I think she’s one of the better bets on the card.

6 Royalzel (Bet Now: $1.90 TOP ODDS) is a very interesting runner. Rare that you see a last start Listed winner drop to 72 grade, but that’s what we see with this three year old, who bolted up in the Taj Rossi at Flemington on Finals Day. It was a Listed race in the form guide, but with respect, it was more a midweek maiden, so can see why he’ll be popular, and J Mac is back on…he can win, but I think he’ll be way too short as a betting proposition.

7 Miss Redoble (Bet Now: $26.00 TOP ODDS) is sneaky going well I think. Tracey Bartley trained mare that is a proven metro performer. Resumed in the Midway here a fortnight back and was held up for a few strides but got clear late and was good to the line and through it. Got upside to come and is a leading contender I feel.

I’m not dropping off 4 Hasstobegood (Bet Now: $12.00 TOP ODDS) for Joe Pride. Her two runs for the new camp have been really good. Caught the eye fresh at Rosehill behind the in form Starla. Then raced here. Just got a bit too far back in the run but was good late. Hard fit now, and if she can sit closer in the run, she’ll take beating.

12 Pensato (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness for James Cummings. Needed the run fresh behind Tamerlane before racing here two weeks back and loved the way she attacked the line behind Bring The Ransom when a close up fourth. Leading chance with that fitness under the belt.

2 Signora Nera (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) is a quality mare for Chris Waller that resumes. Former Kiwi that came over for the Autumn Carnival and while she didn’t win, she ran well for the most part in Oaks campaigns in both Sydney and Brisbane. 1500m is short of her best, but she has class.

1 Great House (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) should be suited back up in trip for Chris Waller. Came back to 1500m three weeks back at Randwick and for mien, he just lacked the zip in the legs to go with them late. Much better suited at this distance range and clearly his best is good enough to beat these.

6 Gemmahra (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) is flying for Gwenda Markwell and is a key threat. Strong winner at Randwick two back before backing up a week later here on the home track. Had a suck run behind the speed but when it came to getting clear and building momentum, it didn’t eventuate early enough when second to Crystal Pegasus. Hard to beat.

13 Onemore Sapphire (Bet Now: $9.50 TOP ODDS) is a hard horse to catch but he does have the talent to measure up in a race like this. Ran over this track/distance two weeks back and finished off with real purpose from off the speed behind Crystal Pegasus. Not sure I could back him to win, but one for exotics.

Straight back with 2 Coastwatch (Bet Now: $2.90) for Chris Waller. He kept finding under pressure in the Up And Coming, surging hard late to just miss out on picking up Tiger Of Malay. Should land in a plum spot from the draw and the inside is holding up okay, he’s clearly the one to beat.

1 Subterranean (Bet Now: $5.50) is an underrated colt. Matty Dunn trained youngster that didn’t disgrace himself at all I thought in the Up And Coming, beaten just under two lengths by Tiger Of Malay. He’s another with upside to come and won’t mind a bit of rain hitting the track.

8 Dark Rebel (Bet Now: $23.00) is an Edward Cummings trained three year old that resumes. This guy had a three run prep in the early part of Winter to start his career, winning on debut at Warwick Farm before heading to Brisbane where he didn’t handle the track in the Sires and then the JJ Atkins. Like him resuming at 1400m, and does have the strong form lines.

4 Paulele (Bet Now: $2.20) gets the nod in what does look a two horse race. He was a brilliant winner fresh of The Rosebud and with confirmation he is being trained as a sprinter, could he put his hand up as an Everest contender for Godolphin. Has the run under the belt and the better map over Stay Inside.

There is bigger fish to fry for 1 Stay Inside (Bet Now: $2.30) but he is a top class and potentially on an Everest path so each race is important for him. 1100m is a tad short of his best, but he is the best horse in the race on exposed form, his trials have been strong and we have seen already this season in some key 3YO races that more often than not, class comes to the fore.

5 Mazu (Bet Now: $27.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Snowden since resuming in The Rosebud. 1100m was always going to be too short for him but I did expect a bit more from him late. It was just a pass mark, but now with the under the belt, I’d want to see something positive here if he’s indeed going to be a Spring contender.

13 Heart Of Puissance (Bet Now: $3.70) was nominated for a couple of races over the weekend but accepts solely for this race, so that’s a guide and a positive lead for me. Maher/Eustace trained stayer that resumes, having not raced since May 22 when bolting up at Flemington over 2500m. Good wet track stats and has trialled up well in readiness for his return. He’ll do me.

9 Mubariz (Bet Now: $7.50) has upside and the Chris Waller polish so he has to command respect. Was over a month between runs when contesting the Prelude here a fortnight back and he just took a little while to wind up but was good late behind Laure Me In. He has upside for sure and is hard to beat.

I want to give 8 Luncies (Bet Now: $12.00) another chance. I was red hot on him when he resumed in the Coffs Harbour Cup and on face value, gee he was disappointing, but watching the replays, he just found the 1600m too sharp and only got warm very late. The step up in trip suits and he has credits in the bank from the Autumn to give him another chance.

7 Tycoonist (Bet Now: $2.50) looks the most obvious. Three weeks between runs for Chris Waller since racing over 1300m at Randwick when wide no cover on speed but kept chipping away and was really good in defeat behind Kingshier, who had the suck run along the inside and was too good. J Mac sticks from a good draw with massive weight relief, he’ll take beating.

4 Zakat (Bet Now: $7.50) is a key threat. James Cummings trained gelding that resumed here a fortnight back. Had a suck run behind a strong speed and was there to win, but couldn’t reel in impressive winner Big Parade, who led throughout and was dominant. Better for the run, he appeals big time.

2 Triple Ace (Bet Now: $6.00) is a key threat. Kris Lees trained four year old that is racing really well this time in. Lovely ride from Mallyon saw him win several weeks ago at Eagle Farm, coming with a well timed run and nailing them near the peg. He’s got more to come and can win again.

10 On The Lead (Bet Now: $8.00) is a talented four year old for Team Freedman that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since the Darby Munro during the Autumn Carnival when losing a plate in the run and perhaps was looking for the paddock behind Isotope. Good fresh record, has trialled well leading in and is 2/2 at the track.

6 Andermatt… (Bet Now: $2.70) is one of the hardest to beat. Returns as a gelding for James Cummings and is borderline Stakes class when at his best, so will be interesting to see how he goes first time as a gelding, but he likes wet ground, has trialled very well leading in and has J Mac steering.

5 Hulk… (Bet Now: $10.00) bloody Hulk. Gee he’s a nightmare to watch. Another run/barrier trial for him last start at Randwick. He was bolting for a run but the splits didn’t come his way when Tommy wanted them to. He’s a very hard horse to catch but if things go his way, he can win this for sure.

17 Toomuchtobear (Bet Now: $5.00) is a very promising horse for Chris Waller that is looking to make it three on the bounce. Won a red hot maiden at Bendigo two back before having a mini freshen up and racing at Newcastle at a midweek metro meeting there where he was on speed throughout before being clicked up and showing good change up speed to win impressively. Confident he can measure up.

8 Kingshier (Bet Now: $4.40) looks a good prospect for the Hawkes camp and confident he can measure up. Lovely ride from Avdulla saw him bolt up at Randwick fresh three weeks ago, getting the suck run behind the speed before getting an inside split and dashing clear. He’s got more upside than most and is hard to beat.

5 Kordia (Bet Now: $23.00) is a hard horse to catch but I do feel that James Cummings has him back on track. Jury was out after a plain effort behind Night Of Power, but he was very good from the back here two weeks ago behind Olympic Legend when a close up fifth. Up to 1500m, he appeals.
