Seven races are set to be run and won this Saturday at Belmont, where the feature race is the Idyllic Prince Stakes (1300m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (15:18) : Belmont Bonanza Maiden 1400m:
Back Me: 4 Pierian (Bet Now: $5.50) had his first run for two years last Thursday at Pinjarra and was very good in defeat when third to Foundry Court. The worry is that he’ll race flat second up off a long layoff, but the resumption was too good to dismiss.
Big Danger: 8 Lone Sailor (Bet Now: $2.80) debuted over this track/distance last Wednesday and gee he was a real eye catcher late, working home strongly to run fourth to Boom Boom Bang, beaten just under a length. Only has to show natural improvement to just about knock this field off.
Roughie: 14 Grinding Hard (Bet Now: $13.00) has been given a near month freshen up since finishing close up in a Northam maiden behind Intercity Disco, a horse which has gone on to run well since. Harder here, and drawn wide, but stable is going well and he could be worth an each way ticket.

Race Two (15:58) : Amelia Park Lamb Handicap (72+) 1400m:
Back Me: 1 Stocks (Bet Now: $8.50) raced over 1400m here last time out where I think the 59kg really anchored him down over the final 150 when fourth to Flying Roar. Was due to run at the mile last week but was scratched and instead runs here. Definite winning chance.
Big Danger: 7 Pounamu (Bet Now: $2.00) resumed over 1200m here three weeks ago and was completely luckless in running third to Miki Two Shoes given he got badly held up in the straight when appearing to be bolting. He performed very well earlier on in the prep last time in, and the same scenario looks as if it’ll occur.
Roughie: 2 General Groove has been a big disappointment since coming to WA but perhaps he finds a race to do something. Looked very flat behind Flying Roar last time out but the blinkers are back on and he draws a decent gate. D Day.

Race Three (16:38) : Tabtouch Handicap (72+) 2200m:
Back Me: 1 Don’tgetcaught (Bet Now: $2.60) ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he sat off speed and chased strongly when second to Material Man, who looks a potential blacktype stayer, so the form reads very well, and the big key is that Pike remains on.
Big Danger: 7 Ready To Fire (Bet Now: $3.70) ran third in that Material Man and his effort was very sound, getting the box seat trail and plugging away solidly to the line. Been up longer than Ron Jeremy, but continues to race well and draws to get a sweet trip once again.
Roughie: 6 Operational (Bet Now: $26.00) is teasing to win one of these staying races. He ran fifth behind Material Man and he did work home okay late without threatening. Been a long time since he has won, but he is trained by one of the best and there are no standouts here.

Race Four (17:14) : Idyllic Prince Stakes 1300m:
Back Me: 2 Rock Magic (Bet Now: $3.40) for me here. He has chased First Among Equals at his past two outings and has been beaten narrowly at each run. He does get a little weight pull on that horse here and will get a soft trip. Hard to beat.
Big Danger: 3 First Among Equals (Bet Now: $2.00) has the runs on the board and has to be rated as one of the main contenders, if not the one to beat. He has produced brilliant finishing bursts to win both runs this time in, and though meeting Rock Magic slightly worse off at the weights, the small field will ensure his turn of foot will be vital.
Roughie: 7 Red Ora (Bet Now: $5.00) was a big flop behind Bolton Sprint behind First Among Equals when starting favourite. He had the charmed run behind the tempo but he couldn’t finish it off. Pike remains on which is the positive, and he has a sharp second up record.

Race Five (17:50) : Ascot Racing Carnival- Book Now Handicap (1MW) 1400m:
Back Me: 15 Forever Diamonds (Bet Now: $3.50) looks the standout bet on the program. She resumed here four weeks ago and closed off hard late when a close up second to Conseated, who has run well since, so the form reads very well. Stack of upside, Pike on, looks to be good speed…looks the winner.
Big Danger: 4 Bourbon Dynasty (Bet Now: $11.00) ran over this track/distance three weeks and ran a very good race but bumped into a Stakes class mare in Chocolate Holic. No horse of that quality here, but the big negative is the wide gate. Overcomes that and she’s a chance.
Roughie: 1 Bayella is in really good form at the moment. She ran here a fortnight back and was unlucky not to finish closer when running a close up third to Furious Dame. Has good upside and draws to get a sweet trip just off the speed.

Race Six (18:25) : Little Creatures Handicap (66+) 1000m:
Back Me: 8 Recoiled (Bet Now: $4.20) ran over this track/distance three weeks ago and tried very hard when running third to Three Votes. Doesn’t appear to be as strong as what he faced last start, and drawn wide, but is at peak fitness and is a leading contender.
Big Danger: 3 Furious Drama drops in distance and for mine that should only be beneficial. She has done the bolt at her past two, and got away with it last start when holding off Conseated. Doesn’t appear to much be much speed drawn inside her so she’s one of the hardest to beat.
Roughie: 6 Cadenza is the interesting one. Resumes here for Dan Morton in what looks a tough race. Showed last time in he can be hot and cold, and resumes here with no trial…market watch for me.

Race Seven (19:00) : Young Membership Handicap (1MW) 1600m:
Back Me: 1 Baraki Beats (Bet Now: $4.60) looks the way to go here in what appears to be a two horse race. He has strung together a number of placings so he is hard to trust, but he draws a lovely gate and will take a stack of beating.
Big Danger: 2 Falcon Crest (Bet Now: $3.20) looks the only other winning chance. He has been in great form this time in, winning his past two starts. Draws to get a lovely run near the speed and Pike is on. Ticks the boxes.
Roughie: 5 The Forgotten One (Bet Now: $5.50) ran a luckless fifth behind Falcon Crest last time out, getting badly held up when appearing to have plenty to offer. Hard to trust, but he will be a contender if he brings a run similar to last start.
