The Parks track at Morphettville returns to host Saturday racing this weekend with some pretty good depth right across the board. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres from the 1000m-400m; True for the remainder.

Race One (12:15) : McMahon Services Handicap 1000m:
Back Me: 6 Streetcar Express (Bet Now: $4.00) is a well bred filly that resumes for the David Jolly camp. Bred to come to hand early and she looks above average off the back of a top trial effort over 800m here earlier in the month. Market will be the guide, but no surprise to see her hard in the market and backed.
Big Danger: 2 Counterplay (Bet Now: $2.60) is a Sepoy filly for the Stokes yard who debuted in what looked a kill for her off the back of an outstanding trial and she lived up to the expectation with a spank job. Faces clearly a tougher test here, but she does look a likely type and I’m confident she can measure up.
Long Shot: 1 Jolie Rose (Bet Now: $4.50) is the hard fit runner with some pretty good form behind her. Problem was she hadn’t won a race. That was until a couple of weeks back over 1200m at Murray Bridge where she led all the way and absolutely trotted in under Damien Thornton. Back to 1000m is a big tick, she’ll lead and take some beating.
Race Two (12:55) : ResourceCO Handicap (70) 1400m:
Back Me: 3 Rancho Relaxo (Bet Now: $7.00) is a handy gelding for the Macdonald/Gluyas yard who had been excellent in two runs back from a break before going to Murray Bridge where he was given a lovely ride by Raquel Clark and got the stride in late to get the win. Confident he can measure up in town.
Big Danger: 2 Hussybay (Bet Now: $3.20) is a talented gelding who drops big time in grade here after contesting the Adelaide Guineas a fortight back where he got off the speed and weaved his way through for a superb fourth to Vienna Miss in a bunched finish won by a $101 shot. Not ideal, and suspect, but that does read better than what some of these have next to their name.
Long Shot: 8 Unrelated (Bet Now: $23.00) came with a well timed run to win two back at Strathalbyn before racing at Balaklava last Wednesday where he chased hard from off the pace when third to Lethal Bond. Looks ready to tackle the 1400m again now and the form around him does read well for this.
Race Three (13:35) : Seppeltsfield Handicap 1300m:
Back Me: 1 So You Too (Bet Now: $1.75) looks an absolute standout. He is on the quick back up for the Macdonald/Gluyas after racing over 1200m on the course proper last Saturday where he was wide throughout yet loomed to win the race and looked home but was nabbed right on the peg by Chase The Horizon. Back to his own age now and gets the claim. Just wins.
Big Danger: 2 Weather Channel (Bet Now: $4.80) is a good three year who put together two on the bounce before going to a Stakes race a month back where he got back in the run and closed off with purpose when running third to Fox Hall. Does tend to race best on the fresh side and has a good record on the Parks track.
Long Shot: 4 Swipe Me Right (Bet Now: $9.00) is a handy three year old who drops a bit in grade after contesting the Nitschke four weeks back where he got back in the run and closed off well late in the piece behind the well performed Fox Hall. Third up now, so he should be ready fitness wise and looms as a knockout chance.
Race Four (14:13) : Australian Made Handicap (82) 1950m:
Back Me: 5 Tidy Prophet (Bet Now: $2.80) is on the seven day back up after racing in the Centaurea last Saturday over 2000m where she got back in the run in a leader dominated affair but made up really good ground late behind Exocet. Back miles in depth here, beautifully in at the weights and loves the Parks track.
Big Danger: 2 Magic Boy (Bet Now: $6.00) had a big of market support when racing over 2000m on the course proper three weeks back where he had a nice sit just near the speed and he tried hard and battled away strongly when third to the Group l performed Second Bullet. Fab record on the Parks track and rates highly back to this level.
Long Shot: 3 Herne’s Oak (Bet Now: $31.00) is a former Bjorn Baker trained galloper that has had a couple of runs now for the Matthew Seyers camp. Didn’t do a bad job here first up behind Act of Valour before going to the Mount Gambier Carnival over 1550m when finishing down the track behind Woolsthorpe Store, who franked the form by winning the Casterton Cup. Up in trip suits and hopefully he gets a firmer surface.
Race Five (14:52) : Hughes Limousines Handicap 1250m:
Back Me: 4 Mio Dio (Bet Now: $2.90) looks a standout here and is the best bet on the card for mine. This gelding resumed over 1200m on the course proper a fortnight back and you could make a strong case that he should have won. Got held up at various stages in the straight but when clear he really attacked the line. Great record on the Parks track and can only improve.
Big Danger: 2 Counter Pulse (Bet Now: $2.10) is the class factor and should take some beating. Strung together three wins on the bounce before running a close up third to Broadway And First. Then stepped up in grade in the McKay where he ran out of his skin when a close up fifth to Karacatis. Loves racing on the Parks track and maps well.
Long Shot: 5 Usain Dane (Bet Now: $5.00) is the watch horse here. He resumed over 1200m on the course proper two weeks ago in the same race that Mio Dio contested. Got back and came on okay but never reallythreatened when finishing midfield to Ashlor. Done nothing second up, but this is a winnable assignment.
Race Six (15:32) : Thomas Farms Kitchen Handicap (70) 1000m:
Back Me: 8 Mystified (Bet Now: $2.90) is a talented filly for the Ryan Balfour yard who resumed a couple of weeks back over 1050m on the course proper where she got badly held up between runners and couldn’t really come on when finishing sixth to the unbeaten galloper Mulder. Draws to get clear running here and though back to 1000m, giving her serious respect.
Big Danger: 4 Streetcar Illusion (Bet Now: $6.00) is a handy type for the David Jolly yard who is clearly knocking on the door to win a race. Hasn’t raced for five weeks since racing on the course where he chased hard but had to settle for second to stablemate Rock Status, who has gone on to run well since. Good record on the Parks track and this is a very winnable race.
Long Shot: 16 Tempting Faith (Bet Now: $35.00) rises sharply in grade here, but I think he can run a very cheeky race at odds. He was given a beaut steer by Ryan Hurdle last time out over 900m at Murray Bridge and got the job done to win narrowly but impressively. Up to 1000m looks okay and should carve over from the wide gate.
Race Seven (16:12) : Alan Sheppard Constructions Handicap (70) 1250m:
Back Me: 3 Murti (Bet Now: $9.00) is a really good, consistent gelding that resumes for the Vassallo camp. He hasn’t raced since early March when racing at this track/distance where he attempted to lead all the way but just felt the pinch late. He has a pretty solid fresh record and his efforts on this track have been excellent.
Big Danger: 12 Tycoon Sofie (Bet Now: $8.50) trialled impressively here prior to resuming at Donald where she had late market support and that move almost came off but she couldn’t quite finish it off when third to the proven city performer Don’t Get Excited. Great record and is good when produced second up. Definite threat.
Long Shot: 5 Affray (Bet Now: $4.40) had good market support when racing over 1100m on the course proper two weeks ago and he was never a winning chance given where he was, making up a stack of ground behind the heavily backed Idatwo. Three runs under the belt now, so he should be ready fitness wise, and you always have to respect the stable.
Race Eight (16:52) : Mercedes Benz Handicap (75) 1400m:
Back Me: 6 Counter Spin (Bet Now: $8.00) looks a great bet for me in the get out. He is on the quick back up after racing on the course proper last Saturday where it was a complete forget run. Got back in the ruck and was never really clear when appearing to have plenty to offer. Drops in depth, gate one and Lindop steers.
Big Danger: 12 Miss Joolia (Bet Now: $13.00) is a really good mare for the Dodson camp. Ran over 1400m here a fortnight back where she did her usual thing of flopping out the back in the run and savaging the line when fourth to Roselli Sting. Saves her best for the Parks track and with her booming finish, you can’t ignore her, and I think she can get the job done.
Long Shot: 9 Double Pockets (Bet Now: $17.00) is a proven city performer who has been doing his work at the provincials recently and has been far from disgraced. Ran over 1550m at Mount Gambier and finished off quite nicely behind Woolsthorpe Store, who franked the form by winning the Casterton Cup on Sunday. Back to 1400m is perfect and loves the Parks track.
