The Parks track at Morphettville will play host to SA metro racing on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:01) Furphy (bm82) 1550m
1 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $3.70) is an absolute beauty for John Hickmott. Ran over this track/distance three weeks ago when leading throughout and it was a lovely front running ride. Controlled things beautifully to suit himself and from the home turn onwards, he was never getting beat. If he can get control like that again, he’ll take a power of beating.
3 Crockett (Bet Now: $3.00) is a Team McEvoy trained gelding who is going well. Ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge just under three weeks ago when near the speed throughout under Neindorf and was there to win, but couldn’t quite put them away when second to Murray Bridge specialist Putting On Airs. Like him up in trip and Vorster takes over.
Don’t think 6 Flop (Bet Now: $7.50) is too far away from a win. She comes through the France’s Boy race from three weeks ago where she wasn’t really suited by the slow tempo but thought she stuck on well enough in defeat. Would love to see her ridden positively and I think from the gate there is an opportunity for that to eventuate.
Race 2. (12:36) Tab (bm64) 1000m
Have to be with 1 Theresabearinthere (Bet Now: $2.10). Has always looked the part at the trials/jumpouts and he brought that to the races on debut when an impressive. Then went to the Queen Adelaide and just forget he went around when four wide no cover for the trip. Been given a break and again has jumped out super. Happily in his corner.
7 Who Runs The World (Bet Now: $2.90) is a daughter of Zoustar that resumes for the McEvoy camp. Had two runs in the Summer to start her career, placing on debut at Bendigo before going to Flemington on New Years Day and battling away without threatening. Two jumpouts have been good, but latest trial I could find was back on May 22, so she’s a definite market watch.
6 Three Tears (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Helmet filly for Peter Hardacre that is first up. Hasn’t raced since her debut at Murray Bridge back in February when second to impressive winner Kirinia when hard in the market, which is a good sign for a first starter who had jumped out well prior. Can’t find a jumpout for her so I think watch the market.
Race 3. (13:11) Schweppes (bm66) 1400m
2 Royalty (Bet Now: $4.00) is just about ready to win for the in form McEvoy camp. Ran over 1250m here three weeks ago in a race where they went slow early, which probably didn’t suit him given he doesn’t have that immediate change up speed, but picked up late and was good when second to the in form Just Kappy. Hard to beat here.
1 Defiant Dancer (Bet Now: $3.10) looks hard to beat up to 1300m for Phillip Stokes. Was 1400m back to 1200m when racing at Murray Bridge two weeks ago and worked to the line pretty well but was no match for the impressive finale that Toff Love produced. Back up in trip does look a big tick for him and has the right form to win this.
4 Tubby Two Tracks (Bet Now: $13.00) is suited back to 1400m I feel. Comes through the Eluding race from a fortnight ago at Murray Bridge where she seemed to get the right run into the race, but couldn’t fire when asked for the big effort and just whacked. Think back to 1400m is a big tick for this girl and can improve big time.
Race 4. (13:46) Fleurieu Milk Company (58) 1550m
Been a fair while since he won his maiden, but this looks a very winnable race for 3 Call Me Shamus (Bet Now: $6.00). Ran in a 3YO 66 race over the mile at Murray Bridge two weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip and battled away well in defeat behind a promising one in Eluding. Always like the drop back to 58 grade from a higher benchmark race, especially with these younger gallopers.
8 Crypto Currency (Bet Now: $3.80) is a beauty. Has done very well this prep for the Matty Seyers team, winning first up before bumping into Sign Of Ussuri next start, who of course bolted up last Saturday. Crypto Currency then went to Gawler last Wednesday when on speed and despite being strongly challenged, he showed good ticker in the straight and was too good. He’ll land near the front here and give a bold sight.
The best version of 10 Reinvigorate (Bet Now: $13.00) is certainly capable. Andrew Clarken trained gelding who last raced on June 3 at Gawler where he didn’t really fire a shot from off the speed in a disappointing effort behind Fight For Freedom. Prior runs suggested a win wasn’t far off and not a bad lead that Vorster sticks.
Race 5. (14:21) Grant Burge (bm68) 1300m
Leaning towards 1 Simply Dreaming (Bet Now: $4.20) for the David Jolly camp. Comes back to 1300m after racing over 1550m here two weeks ago when near the speed throughout and battled away really well when third to France’s Boy. That race was around Benchmark 80, so back to a 68, and on speed here, she’ll take a power of beating.
6 Mabel Josephine (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Krisi Evans trained mare that ran in an identical race to this three weeks ago at the track/distance where back off the speed and closed off strongly to run second to Really Discreet. Backed up a few days later at Strathalbyn and again was a real eye catcher from the back. Convinced she’s going well and is hard to beat.
3 Aray Of Sunshine (Bet Now: $5.50) is a daughter of Ambidexter for the Rob Wilkinston stable that is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where she got back to near last in the run and was never really a winning threat but liked the way she found the line late when fourth to Really Discreet. Can sit closer in the run and be dangerous at a price.
Race 6. (15:01) Caudo Vineyard (78) 2250m
I thought the win of 4 Bertwhistle (Bet Now: $2.45) on the Parks track four weeks back was outstanding. Did all the early work to get on speed with the well supported favourite Exalted Ambition getting every chance to run him down, but on the line, Bertwhistle was too good and holding him. 2250m is no issue and is an obvious leading contender. In her corner.
12 Exalted Ambition (Bet Now: $4.40) is a little query at the trip but is racing well. Ran over 2500m at Murray Bridge a fortnight back when near the speed under Stubby and was there to win. Just couldn’t quicken when the sprint went on and whacked away to run third to Swankytoff. Back in trip I do like, hard fit and in form.
Want to be very forgiving of 11 Turf Man (Bet Now: $15.00) and his effort behind Swankytoff at Murray Bridge. He was back in the run in a race where they absolutely crawled in front, making sure those from the back really had zero chance of getting involved, including Turf Man. Like him back on the Parks track and can improve big time.
Race 7. (15:41) Winning Edge Presentation (82) 1000m
6 Brimarvi Vehero (Bet Now: $4.00) on top. Sam Burford has got this guy in super order this prep. Bit unlucky first up at Murray Bridge when doing work out wide when third to Symphonette before going to this track/distance seven days later where he was heavily backed and was far too good for his rivals. He’s flying and looks the pony to bet on, clearly.
4 Irish Mint (Bet Now: $8.00) is a beauty for the Jolly camp. Got conditions to suit when winning three weeks ago at this track/distance, sitting on speed throughout before being clicked up by Toeroek in the straight and was too good. Be My Star franked that form by winning at the Valley so think Irish Mint has to be respected here.
11 Star Of Monsoon (Bet Now: $11.00) seems like he’s racing every week. Ran over 1200m on the course proper here last Saturday when specked at a price and seemed to get a nice run just off the speed. Just couldn’t quite finish it off behind Arkham Knight. Like him back to 1000m and is really well in after the weights.
Race 8. (16:21) Aami (bm68) 1300m
Bit of a watch here on 1 Analytica (Bet Now: $5.00), formerly with Patrick Payne but now finds himself with Travis Doudle. Hasn’t raced for just under six weeks since racing over the mile at Bendigo when a strong third to Queen La Diva, who came out and won at Flemington next start, so the form reads well. Now with Doudle, two jumpouts have been quite encouraging.
7 Just Kappy (Bet Now: $2.80) is flying this time in for the Brian Mueller camp. Eight year old that looked gone but this prep, he has found a new lease on life, winning two of his three runs this prep, the latest coming three weeks ago over 1250m here when leading throughout and kicking very strongly when asked for the big effort. He’s going super and has to be respected again.
2 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $23.00) is an absolute beauty for John Hickmott that resumes. He’s rising 11 years of age, but every prep he puts it and is around the mark, albeit over distances further than this. 2000m+ is when he’ll come into his own, but did win first up last prep and if they go silly in front, he’ll be strong at the end.
Race 9. (17:00) Tab (bm68) 1000m
Up to 1000m looks a big tick for the David Jolly trained 12 Streetcar Stranger (Bet Now: $5.50). Resumed over 900m at Murray Bridge where he was pretty much run off his legs from the outset but loved the way he found the line late when fifth to Exalted Gold, beaten under a length. Fitter, up in trip and has a really good turn of foot.
11 Wanaasa (Bet Now: $4.60) is an interesting runner. Resumed for Ryan Balfour two weeks ago at Murray Bridge when heavily backed. Attempted to lead throughout and gave a really strong kick, only to be bloused late by Beermint. You’d like to think he will come on from that and has the right racing pattern for this track.
4 White Kaps (Bet Now: $15.00) is a very frustrating horse to follow and trust with confidence but he’s got the ability to be thereabouts. Gordon Richards trains this gelding, who ran in the Irish Mint race from three weeks back at this track/distance where he looked to get the right run just behind the speed but found little when asked. Can win…but brave to back him to win.
