26/8/2017 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont, Idyllic Prince Stakes day

Blacktype racing returns to Belmont this Saturday where it is Idyllic Prince Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Quite keen here on 3 Saverio (Bet Now: $2.80) in the opener. Team Harvey trained galloper who has had two runs back from a break and has been fabulous each time he has stepped out, the latest over 1200m here last Saturday when a fighting second to Multiverse. Up to 1400m looks ideal and he draws to sit much closer in the run.

4 Costa Oeste (Bet Now: $12.00) looks a key threat here. Jason Pateman trained galloper who ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and tried hard as he always does when second to Quest To Venus, who franked the form by winning again last week. Draws well, Hunter remains on, hard fit…ticks the boxes.

2 Maybe One More (Bet Now: $19.00) could be one to include here at odds. Neville Parker trained galloper resuming and while his best efforts have come over further, he can pull out a run fresh here and his recent Lark Hill trial behind Riders In The Sky was quite encouraging and Azzopardi, who rode in the trial, sticks.

2 Snow Lord (Bet Now: $3.20) gets one more chance for me here. Team Williams trained sprinter who has had two runs back from a break, both coming over this track/distance. He has let the punters down both times but he has been far from disgraced. Pike remains on, and he should be hard fit, ready to go.

4 Floyd (Bet Now: $4.40) is the omen bet for those interested in that kind of thing. That aside, he’s a nice type who resumes for the Gangemi yard. He was pretty good last time in, keeping in mind his fresh run saw him place behind Snow Lord. Couple of gear changes to tune him up for his fresh run.

1 Two Silver Trees (Bet Now: $7.00) is a talented mare for the Lindsey Smith team who is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where she got back in the run and closed off quite well late behind More Aces. Will again get off the pace but will be strong late.

Leaning the way of 2 Dainty Tess (Bet Now: $3.20) in a tricky affair. Bonny mare for the Dan Morton yard who has only had a couple of months off since taking on the older horses and performing quite well. No trials, but she is the sort of type that doesn’t need much to be wound up. The one to beat.

5 More Aces (Bet Now: $2.35) was heavily backed in betting when racing at this track/distance a fortnight back and despite copping pressure on speed, he kicked hard on speed but was nabbed late by Mr Motown. Senior rider on, looks the leader and should take some beating against this lot.

7 Bombs Away (Bet Now: $5.00) is a smart customer that is first up for the Lindsey Smith stable. This bloke is nine weeks fresh since resuming and failing to flatter in a really solid sprint race when sixth of ten over the 1000m behind the smart type Pretentious Chant. No trials, but draws well and can sprint well fresh.

8 Sunboss (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Sebring colt resuming for the Simon Miller yard. He has only had the one race start, which came in April when running fourth at Ascot behind Resistence. Has looked very good in a couple of trials and is bred to swim, so if the track is still rain affected, he comes right into play.

7 Epic Grey (Bet Now: $3.00) clearly on top for me here. Lindsey Smith trained three year old who was backed off the map when resuming here a fortnight back but he couldn’t quite get past the nippy leader/winner Saturia. Should get a much firmer surface here, draws much better and should improve fitness wise.

9 Fine Scent (Bet Now: $8.00) is an All Too Hard filly for the Simon Miller yard who is still a maiden from three outings but is showing nice promise. She ran over this track/distance three weeks back and beat all bar Dainty Pat in a tidy performance. Blinkers on first time and Pike steers. Ticks a few boxes.

I hadn’t pencilled 6 Just Act Natural (Bet Now: $3.30) as a Stakes horse but this does look a Stakes race he can get away with. He was fresh off a little break three weeks back over the 1200m here and he absolutely bolted in. Smith back on, maps well…looks hard to beat up to the 1300m.

1 Battle Hero (Bet Now: $2.15) had his first run for the Gangemi camp in the Belmont Newmarket a fortnight back and tried really hard when running a close up third to Meteoroid. Should only improve off that , suited up in trip, firmer footing and has the class factor. Rates highly against this lot.

3 Dark Alert (Bet Now: $27.00) is a talented stayer that has his first run for the Joe Miller camp. He ran quite well during the Autumn, ending the prep with a gutsy effort in the WA Cup. Resumes with no trials but does have class on his side despite this being well short of his trip. Watch what the market does.

8 Bonny Be Good (Bet Now: $2.40) gets the nod for me. Really good mare for Team Williams who resumed here a fortnight back where she was hard in the market and aided by a lovely ride from Smith, she surged hard late to get the win. She should only improve off that and rates highly.

4 Lockroy (Bet Now: $7.00) is an in form sprinter for the Gangemi yard who is bursting to win another race and he gets his chance. He ran here three weeks back and was luckless on the wet track when getting out too late behind Just Act Natural. Better luck here and he can go close.

5 Pop Hero (Bet Now: $23.00) is an honest gelding who is getting on in years but is racing well and can threaten here in a tricky affair. He ran over 1000m here a fortnight back and stuck to the task gamely behind Mr Motown. Bit suspect at 1200m but with the right run he can see it out.

5 By Decree (Bet Now: $4.20) is a mare in ripping form at the moment for the Mcaullife yard. She won a couple of races on the bounce in impressive fashion before attempting to lead all the way over 1400m here and just fading late. Back up to the mile, and with a trail, she can bounce back.

8 Ragnar’s Saga (Bet Now: $3.20) closed off with purpose first up here when a narrow second to Parading before stepping up in trip and aided by a heavy ride from Mitchell he finished best and got the win. He has enormous upside and Pike is on. Ticks a fair few boxes here for this assignment.

1 Pushin’ Shapes (Bet Now: $8.00) had trialled up really well prior to resuming over 1400m here a fortnight back on a heavy track where he couldn’t really pick up on the bog but stuck on really well. Goes well second up and will definitely be better off here on the firmer surface.

1 Gunnago (Bet Now: $2.25) looks a standout on the program. I thought his effort here a fortnight back on the bog was very good. He ran over 1400m and tried hard but just couldn’t quite run the trip out. Back to 1300m, firmer footing…I’m really keen despite the weight impost and maybe the inside draw.

8 Hello Paris (Bet Now: $10.00) is on the quick back up for the Williams camp after racing over the 1400m here last Saturday in a mares race where she just got too far back in the run but closed off nicely late behind Quest To Venus. I like she is on the seven day turnaround and for mine is a definite place chance, a knockout chance if Gunnago is off his game.

11 Jupiter Rising (Bet Now: $18.00) is a nice type for the Neville Parnham yard who looks a good chance to fill the exotics after racing here last Wednesday where he closed off the race with real purpose behind stablemate Victorious Lad. Getting fitter now and should take some beating.
