Boxing Day racing in Sydney for 2016 will take place at Boxing Day for a really strong card, highlighted by the $150,000 Group lll Summer Cup (2000m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:20) : Newgate Sizzling Juvenile Handicap 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Banish (Bet Now: $4.20) is a Godolphin first starter here who looks well placed ina tricky two year old event to kick off the program. This daughter of Lonhro has only had the one public trial, which came last Tuesday here where she sat back in the trial and worked home nicely under her own steam to run second. Draws a lovely gate and when the combination of Godolphin/Reith is quite lethal.
Big Danger: 1 Darhad (Bet Now: $5.50) is the only youngster with race experience here, so he has to be rated highly here. His two efforts saw him place on both occasions, starting off at this track/distance when beaten a lip by Madame Moustache before running third to Champagne Cuddles at Rosehill. He too trialled here last week and was given a good hitout. Hard to beat.
Long Shot: 9 One More Honey (Bet Now: $26.00) is a first starter for John Thompson who perhaps is up against it to beat a couple of handy types here, but she looks ready to go off the back of a nice trial win here a tick under two weeks back when sitting on speed and being pushed out to win under the guidance of Hugh Bowman. Draws well and small field, so one for exotics.

Race Two (13:55) : #theraces Handicap (70) 1200m:

Back Me: 4 Precautions (Bet Now: $2.70) is a talented filly that resumes for John O’Shea. This beautifully bred filly won two from two during the Winter before being tipped out. Has been given a decent break and has been tuned up for her return with a couple of solid trials. Keep in mind also that last start she beat Overstep, who went on to perform well during the Melbourne Spring.
Big Danger: 2 Tactical Advantage (Bet Now: $2.25) trialled very well prior to resuming at Canterbury where he was a slight drifter in betting after opening odds on but his class was just too much for his rivals and won quite impressively with a bit left in reserve. Schofield remains on from a good draw with upside, he rates highly.
Long Shot: 1 First Approval  (Bet Now: $3.80) resumes here for Team Snowden after stringing together a couple of sharp wins at Kembla Grange before being tipped out. The first of those wins did come against Chaussure, who looks a potential Derby prospect, so that form reads well, and a trial in preparation for this was a pretty solid hitout to the eye.

Race Three (14:30) : TAB Sprint (72) 1200m:

Back Me: 2 Waitandwatch (Bet Now: $5.00) looks a really good price at around the $5.50 mark. I’m no sure about the depth of the fields he has beaten up in the two runs/wins this time in, but to the eye he has been very good on each occasion with McDougall steering both times. What I will say is that he has run time, and the clock doesn’t lie. Steps up a bit in depth, but has upside, draws well and McDougall remains on.
Big Danger: 4 Magicaz (Bet Now: $2.10) was completely unwanted in betting when resuming on her home track at Warwick Farm at the midweeks but despite the market drift, gee I thought she was impressive, charging to the line and spacing her rivals. The negative with her here is the price. Even money is silly unders considering she was $17 first up. Still, a major threat.
Long Shot: 8 Thelittleracketeer (Bet Now: $5.00) was a dominant first up winner of a Highway at Rosehill before racing there again and getting no luck at all, posted deep no cover for the trip and tiring to finish near last behind Isorich. Draws much better here and when Avdulla steers Matty Dale runners, they rarely don’t earn prizemoney.

Race Four (15:05) : TAB Rewards Mile (78) 1600m:

Back Me: 8 Via Napoli (Bet Now: $4.20) looks ready to win now that she has had three solid runs under the belt. She ran over 1550m at Canterbury last time out where she sat off a slow tempo and just couldn’t dash quick enough but the effort was more than sound when second to Lubiton. Randwick mile looks ideal and Avdulla jumps aboard.
Big Danger: 1 Asinara (Bet Now: $6.00) has been given a 30 day freshen up since racing over 1500m at Rosehill where she got back in a slowly run race and did make up ground but was never a winning threat when sixth to Hogamany, who has since won again, so that form reads well, and now she drops back to her own sex. If she brings her best, she’d spank these.
Long Shot: 11 Shutter Bug (Bet Now: $9.00) could be a knockout chance here at odds. She comes through a mares race at Rosehill a tick over two weeks back where she raced keenly in the run and that probably left her gassed to an extent, aided by bias and a slow tempo when finishing down the track behind Girl Sunday. Gets down in the weights again, draws well and she does have really good stats at Randwick.

Race Five (15:40) : Hyland Boxing Day Sale Sprint (85) 1200m:

Back Me: 2 Dal Cielo (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Group l performer who kind of lost his way in the latter stages of his three year old season. Was sent to Kris Lees and he looked to trial really well prior to resuming in the Skellatar at Muswellbrook where he was pretty much run off his legs early, but you had to like his last 150m where he got the gap and savaged the peg to run second to Our Renaissance. He has class on his side and provided he doesn’t get too far back here, he’s right in the game.
Big Danger: 6 Butterboom (Bet Now: $7.00) was a big flop when resuming in a Stakes race at Eagle Farm behind Elegant Composure before racing over this track/distance nine days ago where she had a nice sit near the speed and hit the front soon after straightening but was just no match late for the above average mare Kinsachi. Third up now, so she should be ready fitness wise and though drawn wide, is a definite contender.
Long Shot: 7 Awasita (Bet Now: $8.50) ran over 1100m at Rosehill a tick over two weeks back where she was given a plum steer from Avdulla in the run and it did deserve the win but she just couldn’t quite finish it off and ran third to Sugar Ray Leonard. Hasn’t run a drum in four previous attempts at Randwick, but this isn’t an overly strong race.

Race Six (16:20) : Summer Cup 2000m:

Back Me: 5 Centre Pivot  (Bet Now: $4.60) on top for me. He started bolters odds in the Villiers but gee he ran a cracker and kept finding the line strongly on an unsuitable wet track when fourth to Sense Of Occasion. Up to a more ideal trip now, firmer footing, upside and Blake Shinn rides the horse better than anyone.
Big Danger: 3 Malice  (Bet Now: $3.20) was due to run in the Villiers but the wet track saw his withdrawal and is now remaining at the 2000m, the distance of his last start, which resulted in a strong win in the ATC Cup, aided by a peach from James Doyle, who hugged the inside and got a beaut run. Now that he has that winning feeling again, he could go right on with it.
Long Shot: 4 Destiny’s Kiss (Bet Now: $8.00) was areal eye catcher in the ATC Cu before being heavily backed in the Christmas Cup due to the heavy track and aided by a lovely steer from Josh Parr, the noted swimmer lapped it up and drew clear late to win. If the track was heavy, I’d declare him, but even with the firmer footing, he still is a major threat and the $7 is overs.

Race Seven (17:00) : Schweppes Handicap (78) 2400m:

Back Me: 3 Thewayweare (Bet Now: $3.00) rises a fair bit in depth but gee you have to like the way he goes about his business. He has won two of his past three, the latest coming over 2200m at Warwick Farm where he led all the way and was ridden a treat by Blake Shinn. Love the booking of Avdulla given this horse is a real grinder and will stay all day.
Big Danger: 2 Trafalgar (Bet Now: $2.60) was a horse I was quite keen on last time out over 2000m at Rosehill but gee he let me down badly when he showed no turn of foot at all and just couldn’t finish off as well as expected. He was okay, but disappointing for mine. Up to 2400m should really suit, as should the slight drop in depth.
Long Shot: 9 Charlie Royale (Bet Now: $16.00) toughed it out strongly to win two back at Beaumont-Newcastle, beating home a subsequent winner in Law Major before racing at Eagle Farm where he sat near the speed and fought on quite strongly in defeat when running fourth to Rock On Ivy, beaten just over two lengths. He is starting to become a bit more reliable and can be trusted here in a tricky event.

Race Eight (17:40) : #theraces Handicap (77) 1400m:

Back Me: 9 I Am Impressed (Bet Now: $6.50) was a real eye catcher last time out at Canterbury where he was unlucky also in his respective race, getting little luck in the straight when appearing to have plenty to offer when fourth to the handy mare Bonny O’Reilly. Keep in mind that in previous preps, he hasn’t been far off Harrier Jet and Testashadow, both handy horses, plus he has form around Good Project. Good enough to be competitive here.
Big Danger: 3 Snitzel Knight (Bet Now: $6.50) ran over this track/distance nine days ago where he had really good market support at a price but he just couldn’t sprint with the front pair, who controlled the race from the front and gave nothing from behind a look in. This looks a significant drop in depth for mine, the claim for Heywood helps and he draws well.
Long Shot: 2 Next Level (Bet Now: $14.00) resumed over 1200m at Rosehill where he got back in the run, wide with cover and despite that relatively handy run in transit, he didn’t finish off and finished down the track behind Dream Lane. Has since trialled and looked much better I thought when second to Big Arty. Hard horse to trust, but he drops a fair bit in depth here, gets a good gate and gets the services of Deanne Panya.
