26/10/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Bondi Stakes day

The Randwick Carnival continues this Saturday where the feature race is the inaugural edition of the $1 Million Bondi Stakes (1600m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres for the entire circuit.

2 Anders (Bet Now: $2.40 TOP ODDS) for me. Not A Single Doubt colt for the Maher/Eustace stable that was just fair behind Nitrous in the official 2YO trials before trialling at Randwick and he fair dinkum spanked them, winning by eight and running really good time for the morning. Has had the two trials, so he’s well educated for start one and finds a really winnable race here.

5 Close To Me (Bet Now: $2.35 TOP ODDS) is a Team Snowden trained filly on debut. She trialled here last Monday over 700m when on speed and when clicked up by J Mac, the response was there and she showed good change up speed in winning the trial. Stable always has them well educated for start one and I don’t think there are any real class types among this lot.

8 See You Soon (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) is a Jean Dubois filly in debut. She’s only had the one public appearance, which came on Tuesday at Warwick Farm in a trial where she looked to move pretty well I thought in running a narrow second. Always like horses that trial and race within a week, and with the claim, she gets a light weight and I think is a must include for multiples.

Pretty keen on 3 Fast Talking (Bet Now: $3.80 TOP ODDS) running well here. Kody Nestor trains this gelding, who spanked his rivals in two wins on the bounce, which earned him a crack at city level on the Kenso track where he pulled his head off out the back, ridden against his pattern, yet still found the line well and produced the best late split of the race. Wide gate, Bossy can roll forward and he was coming back in trip last run. Now back up in trip, I’m keen on him here.

Ross Stitt is doing a fab job with 9 But I Know (Bet Now: $4.60 TOP ODDS). Lovely ride by Atkins saw her win a Highway at Rosehill two back before racing in a Highway over the mile here two weeks ago and worked home strongly from off the speed to run second to Emanuela. She’ll eat up 1800m and is a proven Highway performer, so she ticks a fair few boxes against these.

Want to give 4 Ambitious Prince (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS) is a Warren Gavenlock trained stayer who comes to town in reasonable form. He comes through the Lismore Cup where he tried hard but was just outsprinted early on in the straight, just missing out on the win. Subsequent trial at Port Macquarie to keep up to the mark was good, he draws well and does bring solid enough form.

1 Diamond Thunder (Bet Now: $3.20 TOP ODDS) for me. Talented three year old for Mark Newnham that resumes after a pretty solid Winter prep, which ended with a win in the Oxlade during the Brisbane Carnival, beating the above average and subsequent Stakes winner California Zimbol. Recent trial here was good and has had two solid trials to prepare him for his return to racing, so I think he’s ready.

Contender or pretender time for 3 Faretti (Bet Now: $2.20 TOP ODDS). He resumed on the Kenso track where he sat on speed before being clicked up and showing good change up speed to get the job done. Visually, very sharp, but the time, on face value looked good, but for the meeting, it was relatively slow. He’ll jump and land on speed. Last 50-100m will be the test I think.

What to do with 8 Regimental Band? (Bet Now: $5.50 TOP ODDS) Very impressive maiden winner first up at Wyong, beating subsequent Stakes winner Akari. She then went to the midweeks on the Kenso track where she looked a good thing but was just awful and didn’t fire a shot at all. Third up now, she should be hard fit now and 1200m on the bigger track looks a good set up.

Bit of a nothing race so going for some value in 2 Order Again (Bet Now: $10.00 TOP ODDS). He’s had three runs back from a spell, resuming with a good fifth at Doomben with 61kg before two runs in Melbourne Cup, and Larry Cassidy said post race after the Toorak that the horse just hated racing anti-clockwise. Back racing clockwise and big time drop in depth, I think he can run a much improved race.

5 Greyworm (Bet Now: $2.05 TOP ODDS) is a beauty for Team Hawkes. Lovely ride from Avdulla saw him get the win over this track/distance two weeks ago, sitting off You Make Me Smile before putting that horse away and showing good fight late to get the win, narrowly but impressively. I reckon 1400m sees him right out, but he’s hard fit, in form and has the right racing pattern.

9 Improvement (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) returns to Sydney after trying to get some blacktype next to her name last start in the Northwood Plume at Caulfield when doing work near the speed and just fading out of the finish late when worse than midfield behind talented mare Tofane. This looks more her level and she does like racing at Randwick. She can bounce back for sure.

Taking a chance on 3 Celebrity Dream (Bet Now: $15.00). She had been trialling enormous in Sydney prior to resuming in the Blazer at Flemington where Haut Brion Her got an absolute picnic in front and nothing behind her could get a look in. Like that this mare returns to Sydney, back to 1200m…if Ready To Prophet and Spanish Dream set a genuine speed, she’ll get her chance.

9 Reelem In Ruby (Bet Now: $3.40) is a talented mare for Team Snowden who had trialled up quite well prior to resuming over this track/distance three weeks ago where she was held up and you can make a case that she should have won when beaten a lip by stablemate Signore Fox. She’s a really good and consistent mare who has a sharp turn of foot when she gets conditions to suit.

2 Miss Fabulass (Bet Now: $10.00) looks to be going well for Kris Lees. Is still racing a touch keen in the run, but is relaxing much better compared to her 3YO season. Sat back when resuming over 1200m here three weeks ago and worked home very strongly late without really threatening behind Signore Fox, but her late splits were good. Just hope she can relax.

7 Master Of Wine (Bet Now: $2.35) still holds a nom for the Melbourne Cup and is looking similar to that of 2010 Melbourne Cup runner up Maluckday, who did win this race. Master Of Wine is a very progressive stayer who stepped out to 2000m last time out here where Clark had him off speed before being clicked up out wide and he put the race to bed in a couple of strides. Should eat up 2400m and has plenty of upside.

Kris Lees has done an outstanding job with 4 Attention Run (Bet Now: $4.40). Great in defeat behind Hush Writer in the Newcastle Cup before going to the Metropolitan where she did work in the run and was entitled to drop away but kept finding and was really good in defeat behind Come Play With Me. If she’s got petrol left in the tank, she’s the one to beat, clearly.

1 Master Of Arts (Bet Now: $8.50) is knocking on the door to win. This bloke ran second to Stampede in the Colin Stephen at Rosehill where he got the dream sit just off the speed and tried very hard, but couldn’t reel in the tough WaterBott stayer, who packed too many when it counted. He’s going really well this veteran and he’s deserving of a win the way he’s going.

Giving 5 Bottega (Bet Now: $4.20) another chance. He created such an impression in his opening two career outings, winning them both, before starting a short priced elect in the Stan Fox two weeks ago over 1500m here where I thought he was ridden far too negatively, spotting the leader/winner and stablemate Colada too much head start, mind you he broke the track record. Bottega was outstanding. If he can sit closer in the run, they won’t be beating him.

I think you have to respect 3 Colada (Bet Now: $9.50) and what he did in the Stan Fox. He absolutely spanked them and gave nothing else a look in, leading throughout and broke the track record in doing so, a fabulous effort from the front. In recent times, consistency is coming into his racing and he has the right racing pattern, so he’ll take some beating once again.

7 Ballistic Boy (Bet Now: $18.00), I think, will measure up. Beat all bar Xanthus first up before racing over 1400m at Eagle Farm two weeks ago where he just got left flat footed when the sprint went on but was really good late when second to Gem Of Scotland. Third up, he should be hard fit and now getting out to 1600m, despite creeping up in the weights, he should take some beating.

Going the way of 3 Poised To Strike (Bet Now: $4.60). Had been trialling up super prior to resuming over 1100m here two weeks ago where it was pretty much another barrier trial for him. Had no luck at all in the straight when bolting for a run but unfortunately Lachlan King couldn’t get clear air at any stage. He’s going well I think and up to 1200m, he’ll take some beating.

9 Testifier (Bet Now: $4.40) is a son of Star Witness who is unbeaten in three outings for Team Hawkes, all of which came in the Autumn in Melbourne, with the last two coming at the Valley. Now based in Sydney and his two trials leading in have been encouraging to the eye and the old saying of you don’t know how good a horse is til they are beaten is true with this guy.

David Atkins has 11 What Could B (Bet Now: $41.00) going really well I think. Closed off strongly two back in the Hurricane at Newcastle before racing in the feature sprint on Port Macquarie Cup Day and was good in defeat behind Grimoire. Fast run 1200m on the big track on a dry deck, he’ll sit back in the run and finish off strong. Just hope he doesn’t get get too far back.

I’m pretty keen here on 11 Romani Girl (Bet Now: $5.00). This mare was an impressive first up winner at Canterbury before stepping up to the mile at Warwick Farm last Wednesday where she was given a sweet steer by J Mac and loomed large, looked home, but was nabbed late by Pancho. Noteworthy that Chris Waller said post race that the mare was half run short, so that should bring her right on for this. Hard to beat back to 1500m.

5 Bergen (Bet Now: $4.50) is an absolute ripper for John O’Shea that has been consistent since day one. He resumed over 1200m at Warwick Farm when on speed and giving a really good kick under Billy Owen but couldn’t hold out the finishing burst of the well supported Sakura. Looks ideally placed back to 1500m, lands on speed and will prove tough to run down.

12 Napoleon Solo (Bet Now: $8.50) is the fascinating runner. Four year old for Team Snowden that had his first run as a gelding at Warwick Farm over 1400m when back, wide with cover, and was never really a winning factor, but did make up good ground late when third to El Mo. He has promised a fair bit since day one, and that resumption was more than encouraging.
