26/1/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Bunbury, Australia Day races

Australia Day racing in WA heads to Bunbury for an eight race card. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

2 Marching (Bet Now: $4.80) has the engine under the hood to do a number on these. Just mentally, he’s not quite get there, as seen first up at Belmont over 1000m where he did plenty wrong in the straight when trying to build the revs so forgive and forget. Gear tinkering to try and straighten him up and he had trialled super prior to that.

4 Magnasonic (Bet Now: $2.00) is a coming maiden winner IMO and I think it could easily come here. He debuted just under three weeks ago over 1100m here where he got into a decent spot behind the speed and tried hard to get there but had to settle for a second to Terratif. Winner looks a smart type and I am respecting that form into this.

7 Speedy Nova (Bet Now: $5.00) will land on speed and give plenty of cheek. He did that when racing over 1100m here last time and he was hailed as the winner but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Torpedoman. Like him back to 1000m and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

11 Simply Thinkin’ (Bet Now: $5.00) brings Geraldton form but gee it was an eye catching debut. It came over this trip where he got back to near last in the run and spotted those in front too much head start but I really liked the way he found the line late in the piece. If this was 1400m, he’d be a moral. Staying at 1200m is the knock but bigger track and gets a big upgrade.

1 Don’t Wait For Luck (Bet Now: $3.20) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. He was backed with confidence when resuming over 1000m at Belmont where he just looked a bit ring rusty and was held up at times but found the line well enough when fourth to Close At Hand. Blinkers on, up in trip and hopefully with a positive ride, he’ll be hard to beat.

3 Another Strike (Bet Now: $14.00) is a son of Sessions that resumes for Lou Luciani. This guy is first up after a two run Winter prep to start his career where each time he was far from disgraced in defeat each run. Given a good break, has trialled well leading in and despite the wide gate, I think he’s in with a shout.

13 Wenzdy Adams (Bet Now: $12.00) is one of the better gambles across Australia for the day IMO. Anne King trained mare that is on debut off the back of two trials, the latest coming over 950m at Lark Hill where she was outside the speed before being clicked up and the response was instant, drawing clear late to win well. Looks a really nice mover and confident she can make a winning debut.

8 Ironclad Boy (Bet Now: $17.00) should be suited back up in trip for Adam Durrant. This guy was good fresh at this trip before coming back to 1000m where he got back near last in the run and made up solid ground without threatening behind Romming Danger. Back up in trip and back in overall depth, he is a threat for sure.

3 Make Mine Super (Bet Now: $12.00) has been solid in two runs back from a spell. Just looked in need of the run first up here before going to Narrogin where he got into a decent spot just off the speed and kept finding the line in a good effort, finishing third. Blinkers on first time, hard fit, I wouldn’t be penning him.

6 Alaskan (Bet Now: $1.70) finds a very winnable maiden here for mine. Neville Parnham trained gelding that has raced over 1400m his past couple, both at Ascot. Latest was three weeks ago in a strong 3YO race where he ran a beauty in defeat when fourth to King’s Parade. Back to maiden grade, he only needs luck from the wide gate to take a power of beating.

16 Be My Belle (Bet Now: $10.00) is a key threat. She was 1100m to 1500m when racing at Pinjarra last time, ridden with intent, landing on speed, and she looked the winner for a long way but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Prophet And Power. She has that 1500m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead here.

14 Chenara (Bet Now: $126.00) is in with a shout. She has been kept on ice, having not raced since Jan 7 over 1200m here when back last in the run and made up minor headway but was never really a factor. Tick over trial was a solid piece of work and with Blinkers back on, I think she is an improver at odds.

Playing a straight bat with 1 Budgerigar (Bet Now: $2.40). Team Pearce trained gelding that ran over 1200m at Belmont just over two weeks ago when back on the fence before angling clear and finished off his race strongly but couldn’t quite get the win when second to Starchienne. Tends to save his best at 1200m and Chris Parnham sticks. Happy to be in his corner.

2 Fortune’s Luck (Bet Now: $7.50) is a daughter of Safeguard for Adam Durrant that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since August 31 at Northam when racing over 1400m and worked home with purpose from off the speed when third to Axeman’s Jazz. Better suited over further but has trialled well leading in and gets in nicely after the claim.

6 Bourbon Beau (Bet Now: $15.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. He ran over 1100m at Narrogin last time where he got back off the speed and spotted those in front a tidy start but found the line well enough in defeat when third to Here No Cash. Up to 1200m, kind map, a win wouldn’t shock at all.

3 Super Romani (Bet Now: $3.70) looks the one to beat for Team Pearce. He has raced at Belmont in both runs back from a spell, the latest seeing him record a super win over the mile at Belmont. He has good upside to come and off the back of a dominant win, he’s clearly the one for me. Like him a lot and is one of the best on the card.

2 Santa Brae (Bet Now: $3.40) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Ross Price. Both runs this prep have come at Pinjarra, the last start being at 1600m when winding up hard from the back, just missing out on the win when second to Lucky Heart. Hard fit and with a kind map, he’s a threat for sure.

1 Snazzler (Bet Now: $7.00) is a knockout hope. He was 1200m to 1500m last time out at Pinjarra where he was keen behind the speed and just couldn’t quite finish it off behind Bonjoy, who is a proven Saturday metro performer so the form reads well and he gets in really nicely after the claim.

Up to 1400m I like for 5 Cool Memory (Bet Now: $4.80) and he is a nice horse. He resumed a few weeks ago over 1300m at Pinjarra where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he made up good headway and clocked decent late splits. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and if used, he’ll be strong at the end and can take this out.

6 Kings Call (Bet Now: $16.00) will land on the bunny and give cheek. The maiden win came over 1500m at Pinjarra where he led throughout and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Drawn wide, but should press forward and prove hard to run down.

1 Tenacious Reward (Bet Now: $13.00) is a son of Demerit that resumes for Paul Roberts. This guy is first up, having not raced since May 3 at Ascot when racing over 1800m when on speed and just felt the pinch late behind Rubirock. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh side so watch the market and see what it does.

8 Firey Panz (Bet Now: $26.00) is worth an each way ticket in the get out. Phil Naylor trained mare that has been thereabouts this time in and does have a strong finale on her. Her last couple of runs have come here, the latest being over 1200m when back off the speed and held at times but picked up and was pretty good in the run to the line. Fast run 1100m, can see her sitting back and launching late.

1 Close At Hand (Bet Now: $3.60) looks a nice horse for Team Williams. Son of Impending that was a significant drifter in betting when debuting at Belmont but he lobbed into a beaut spot behind the speed before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose to win and win well. Loses Pike but gets a perfect map and the claim helps his cause.

3 Bleecker Street (Bet Now: $4.50) is a Manhattan Rain gelding that is first up. He resumes, having not raced since June 28 at Belmont when placing over 1300m, finishing a narrow third. He is a horse who can sprint well on the fresh side and has trialled up nicely in readiness. Definite winning chance.
