The Parks track at Morphettville is where Adelaide racing takes place this Saturday, with eight races to be run and won. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:41) Advanced Transport Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Handicap (64) 1400m

Back Me

Tricky race. I’ll go with 5 Shrouded Mist (Bet Now: $2.60). Well bred filly for Tony McEvoy who resumes here after debuting in the Cinderella during the early part of the Carnival at Morphettville where she finished down the track behind Time Awaits, finding the distance too short and sharp. Two trials leading in have been quite encouraging and this is a thin race.

Danger

1 Phelps Glory (Bet Now: $3.40) is a Stokes trained filly who has put together some really nice efforts this time in but just can’t quite crack it for a win. Gets a great chance here off the back of a strong third a fortnight back behind the above average Dexter You Devil. Gets in very well after the claim and rates highly.

Long Shot

4 Plover Lover (Bet Now: $8.50) is a talented filly that resumes for the Tony McEvoy team. This girl kicked off her career with a four run Autumn prep, highlighted by a dominant maiden win two back before finishing down the track in the Sires Produce. She has had a couple of quiet trials to prepare for her return and I’d watch the market.

Race 2. (14:16) Doug & Pat Brown 65 Year Anniversary Maiden Plate 1000m

Back Me

Pretty confident that 7 Yoelqui (Bet Now: $2.90) can break his maiden here. Placed behind Golden Lustre on debut at Murray Bridge before racing here in a maiden on Cup Day where he got a mile back, held up, yet burst through and surged, but just missed out on picking up Astir. Third start now so he should know what the caper is about, and he has the most scope out of this lot.

Danger

3 Modulate (Bet Now: $6.00) is a son of Ambidexter resuming for the David Jolly team. This gelding raced three times during the Winter, ending the prep with a down the track effort in the Oaklands behind Terry. No trials to speak of leading up to his return to racing, but he should improve from prep one to prep two and draws an inside marble.

Long Shot

8 Zarace (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Ken Sweeney trained gelding who debuted over this track/distance on Cup Day in a maiden where he showed really good speed to lead, and gave a solid kick, but just didn’t quite see it out when third to Astir. That run should bring him right on and on pace runners are better suited on the Parks track.

Race 3. (14:51) Daimler Trucks Adelaide Handicap (75) 1250m

Back Me

8 Alaskan Jade (Bet Now: $8.50) looks a great chance for mine. She ran over the 1250m on the Parks track a few Saturdays back and I thought her effort was very good considering she was wide no cover for the duration. Still had the audacity to fight on like she did behind a very good mare in Embecee Lil. Should take some beating here.

Danger

3 Chapel City (Bet Now: $3.30) is a quality animal for the Gordon Richards team who landed some nice bets when resuming with a win here three weeks back. Produced a booming finish from the back and his class got him home. Form out of that held up okay last Saturday and he finds a very winnable race here with natural progression.

Long Shot

5 Call Me Curtis (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Craig Curtis trained five year old who is finding it very hard to win another race but he goes in the numbers because despite not winning, he’s always thereabouts. Looked as if he was going to kick back and win when racing here a fortnight back, but had to remind myself it was Call Me Curtis. Finished second to Magnus Knight. Doubt he wins, but he goes in multiples.

Race 4. (15:31) Action Line Marking Handicap (90) 1000m

Back Me

7 Invisible Girl (Bet Now: $3.10) won that race mentioned above and I’d put it down to a lovely ride from Bowditch, who saved the ground nearer the rail while Mystified was out wide. That move won the race for this Lloyd Kennewell mare. Probably needs the breaks to go her way again in order to maintain the margin, but gee she is racing well.

Danger

3 Cashed (Bet Now: $4.40) is a solid campaigner for the Ryan Balfour team who ran on the Parks track a few weeks ago in a pretty solid Sprint race and he worked to the line pretty strongly late in the piece, running third to the low flying and in form Tintagel Rocker. He does have the fitness edge on a few of these and one thing we do know is that he is tough.

Race 5. (16:11) Roadside Services & Solutions Handicap (80) 1400m

Back Me

7 Set To Sparkle (Bet Now: $2.10) should go awfully close, especially with the claim for Caserta. I think Jamie Kah was a bit cute on this mare a fortnight back here on speed and just waited a few strides too long to let down, which allowed Show Bender to get close and outgun. With a more aggressive steer, I think she can get the job done.

Danger

1 Miss Identified (Bet Now: $5.50) is a mare that is absolutely low flying at the moment. She has won three on the bounce, the latest at this track/distance when overhauling another in form mare, Embecee Lil. I think this race has more depth to it, but it’s hard to knock a mare that has a picket fence next to her name.

Long Shot

8 Super Crunch (Bet Now: $18.00) ran last in the Show Bender race, which was a field of five, but I thought she was far from disgraced I thought after getting a suck run behind the speed. Just lacked the turn of foot. I think we should get a more genuine tempo here and she is a mare who likes to go through her gears. She ain’t a sit/sprint type.

Race 6. (16:51) Delnorth Handicap (64) 1400m

Back Me

8 Eclair Fiesta (Bet Now: $7.00) is a former Singapore raider who made his Australian debut for the Stokes team on November 9 at Gawler and I thought the effort wasn’t too bad, closing off nicely in the small field to run second to Our Prospect. Had a really good second up record when racing at Kranji and he strikes a winnable race here.

Danger

2 All Bar Two (Bet Now: $3.80) is a lightly raced seven year old for Dennis O’Leary who has clearly had issues given he has only had 14 career outings but gee he is racing well. He ran over the 1550m here a fortnight back and chased hard but had to settle for a close up second to the in form Wasabi Bob, who went down narrowly last week. Back to 1400m a big tick.

Long Shot

6 Cobber (Bet Now: $5.50) scored a well deserved maiden win two back at Balaklava before going to Gawler where he went back to his old self, settling back and taking forever to wind up when finishing midfield behind Dornoch. On his best form, he’s right up to these, but one win from 19 starts tells you the story.

Race 7. (17:31) Plumbing & Pipeline Solutions Handicap (82) 1550m

Back Me

3 It And A Bit (Bet Now: $6.00) is a horse I’m quite keen on. If you were on this bloke a fortnight back at this track/distance, sorry to bring up the nightmare. Quite simply, he should have bolted in but Tourneur rode for luck and he got absolutely none when appearing to be ambling behind them, running a desperately unlucky fourth (elevated to third via protest). If the breaks go his way here, he’ll take some beating.

Danger

6 Imperator Augustus (Bet Now: $2.30) has had a couple of runs now for the Weir camp and looks ready to win now. Came off the bit a fair way out last start at Geelong in a sit/sprint affair but he stuck on and was good to the line and through it when second to the low flying Gold Fields. Getting close to D-Day, but he finds a very winnable race.

Long Shot

4 Roselli Sting (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Gordon Richards trained gelding who is third up from a break and should just about be ready fitness wise. Really liked his effort over the 1250m here a fortnight ago when closing off with purpose from the back to run fourth to in form sprinter Magnus Knight. Up to 1550m should suit and he has the scope to improve.

Race 8. (18:08) UBET Handicap (64) 1250m

Back Me

4 Baker’s Dozen (Bet Now: $3.20) for me in the get out. Will Clarken trained mare that resumed over 1100m on the course proper last Saturday and fair dinkum, if you were on, just don’t try and remember the replay. It was a car crash. Bolting throughout in the straight but was in a pocket and went around like a barrier trial. Well found in the market, but she looks the one now with Via Balciano out.

Danger

5 Gogo Grace (Bet Now: $3.70) is an interesting runner here. Macdonald/Gluyas trained mare that resumes after a pretty solid Autumn/Winter prep which was highlighted by a win over the Morphettville as well as an eye catching effort behind Fuhryk in the Proud Miss. Resumes with no trials, and is better suited over further, but she does have a touch of class/quality.

Long Shot

3 Ballinaclash (Bet Now: $8.00) is a handy type for the Amy Johnston team who ran over this track/distance three weeks back where he attempted to lead all the way under Raquel Clark and just got into tight quarters with Vieira, which probably cost him the race on the line. With clear air this time around, he can go close.
