24/9/2016 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Saturday racing in SA returns to the Parks track at Morphettville this weekend for an eight race card. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres from the 1000m-400m; Out three metres for the remainder.

Race One (13:13) : James Boags Premium Handicap (82) 1950m:

Back Me: Pretty keen here on 5 Dane Hussler  (Bet Now: $13.00) to bounce back into the winners list. Trialled really well at Tatura prior to resuming over the 1400m here three weeks back where she was near last in the run and just didn’t have the turn of foot, but she did pick up quite nicely late. Up to 1950m is perfect, has enormous upside and this is a thin race. I’ll be shocked if she doesn’t look the winner at some stage.
Big Danger: 4 Creance (Bet Now: $8.00) had been performing well in town before really appreciating the class drop last time out in the Mindarie-Halidon Cup when ridden a treat by Jamie Kah to win with real authority. He has a great record on the Parks track and he has performed up to 2500m, so the distance increase is no issue.
Roughie: 7 Robocop (Bet Now: $41.00) could be an improver here at odds. He has had the two fitness runs to tune, the latest over the mile on the course proper behind a handy Victorian in Distant Rock. He has some solid stats on the track, has upside and I think he could be one to include in multiples.

Race Two (13:48) : Schweppes Handicap (70) 1550m:

Back Me: 5 Fully Stoked (Bet Now: $11.00) debuted at the midweeks here last week where he sat near the speed most of the way and though he didn’t handle the wet track, his ability and seemingly class edge got him home. Quickly up to the 1550m, but you have to respect whatever move the stable makes and he does look above average.
Big Danger: 6 Ace Attack (Bet Now: $5.00) started bolters odds in the Guineas but he ran a little beauty when running a close up third, beaten just under a length. Interesting to note that Pretty Punk, the stablemate and an impressive last start winner, was nominated also, but they instead run this bloke.
Roughie: 3 Casta (Bet Now: $11.00) was considered a threat in the Morphettville Guineas a fortnight back but gee he was disappointing I thought behind stablemate Silvera after receiving a soft trip out the back. He is much better than that and I think maybe getting back onto the Parks track and the drop in depth will suit.

Race Three (14:23) : Akeed Mofeed @ Goldin Farms Handicap (82) 1250m:

Back Me: 7 Pepper The Pin (Bet Now: $3.60) was confidently backed to win here three weeks ago and though strongly challenged by stablemate Counter Spin, Lindop lifted the gelding over the line for a courageous win. It had been a while since he greeted the judge, but now that he has, I think he can go right on with it.
Big Danger: 3 Miss Adele (Bet Now: $3.60) trialled well prior to resuming against her own sex a fortnight back on the course proper where she had a nice sit off the speed and produced a lovely turn of foot late to get the win. Unbeaten second up and though taking on the boys, she rates highly.
Roughie: 1 Magic Boy (Bet Now: $5.50) trialled well prior to resuming on the course proper a fortnight back where he sat wide no cover throughout and he just felt the pinch late when running fourth to the above average and in form Hayes/Dabernig runner Heza Ripper. Significant drop in depth here and should take some beating.

Race Four (15:03) : Bob Cowper AM OAM Maiden Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 16 Streets Of Dubai (Bet Now: $6.50) is a well bred colt that resumes for the Hayes/Dabernig yard. He has only had one career start, which occurred on the Pakenham Synthetic when midfield. Jump outs have been pretty good to the eye, and this isn’t a strong maiden. I think he is the pick of the raced brigade.
Big Danger: 8 Hidden Fortune (Bet Now: $6.00) trialled well prior to debuting here last Wednesday where she sat back in the ruck and she gave a really good kick when presented, but first up on a bottomeless track just saw her condition give out late and was pipped near the post. She should take really good improvement off that and looms as a threat.
Roughie: 13 Vod (Bet Now: $41.00) debuted on Mindarie-Halidon Cup Day over this distance where she showed tremendous early toe to lead comfortably and fought on well behind the city performed Svendita. Not as much depth here I think and this is the track where sitting on speed is an advantage.

Race Five (15:43) : Dr Terry Hodgson Handicap (75) 1400m:

Back Me: 9 Swedish Bitters (Bet Now: $21.00) resumed here three weeks ago and was an eye catcher late behind Artie Fred, who of course franked the form by winning last weekend. She is a two time second up winner and appears to have enormous upside.
Big Danger: 4 Loveitt (Bet Now: $4.80) is a talented mare that resumes for the Tony McEvoy stable. Showed really good promise during the Autumn but just didn’t quite measure up in the better class races for the females. Trialled well leading in and she is the class factor.
Roughie: 2 Miss Joolia (Bet Now: $11.00) is on the back up after racing on the course proper last Saturday where she sat back in the run and closed off well late behind the in form galloper Artie Fred. She has a solid record on the Parks track and this race doesn’t have as much depth.

Race Six (16:23) : Dr Sam Barnett Handicap (70)1400m:

Back Me: 2 Galaxy Gazer (Bet Now: $4.60) was given a beaut steer by Jason Holder last time out here, sitting wide with cover before peeling out at the right and pushing the button precisely to draw away for a dominant win. Draws to get three wide cover again and appears to be a definite contender.
Big Danger: 6 Mio Dio (Bet Now: $17.00) is on the back up after racing over the mile on the course proper last Saturday where he chased hard all the way when running third, beaten two lengths. Back to 1400m is a big tick and he does run well on the Parks track. Ticks plenty of boxes.
Roughie: 4 Tableaux (Bet Now: $21.00) has really turned the corner under Grant Young, winning two races in five days, starting off with a win on Mindarie-Halidon Cup Day before winning here, edging out the well performed Loqueteux. This is his hardest test to date under Young, but he is in nearly career best form and has to be included.

Race Seven (17:03) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap 140m:

Back Me: 10 Karlovasi (Bet Now: $4.80) ran fourth in the Balaklava Cup and his effort was more than commendable in defeat given he had a nice run near the speed and fought hard throughout to only go down by just over half a length. He is another that will be better at here and he is a tough bugger.
Big Danger: 3 Sistine Demon (Bet Now: $6.00) is clearly the best horse in the race but it’s hard to know where he is at form wise. Looked to trial really well prior to resuming at Moonee Valley where he was wide no cover on a hot speed and the backmarkers dominated. If he runs up to his best, he spanks these, and the trainer has been pretty good lately at sending horses to SA.
Roughie: 6 Our Exchange (Bet Now: $8.00) was backed at odds to win the Balaklava Cup where she sat on speed and gave a really good kick in the straight, but was nabbed late by Little Akie. She has a fab record on the Parks track, she’s hard fit and in form. Ticks plenty of boxes.

Race Eight (17:41) : MAC Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (64) 1250m:

Back Me: 1 Bought A Horse (Bet Now: $4.50) resumed on his home track at Mornington and was a real closer late when running a close up third to the speedy Zambezi Diamond. The effort was very good because it was an afternoon where making up ground was a near impossibility. Claim for Caboche is a big tick, draws well and handles all conditions.
Big Danger: 7 One More Daisy (Bet Now: $4.50) ran over this track/distance three weeks back where she was given a lovely ride from Eran Boyd and the mare looked home but she was bloused late by the swooping Artie Fred, who of course franked the form last weekend. Not the strongest 82 race going around here, and she gets really good weight relief. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 12 Space Time (Bet Now: $8.00) looked to trial well prior to resuming on Balaklava Cup Day where he, like most that afternoon, really struggled on the bottomless surface so forgive and forget. Ran well in town last prep and should take some beating.
