The Parks track at Morphettville is where Adelaide racing takes place this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out five metres for the remainder.

2 Dancers Kin (Bet Now: $2.70) for me. Phillip Stokes trains this youngster, who debuted over the 1050m on the course proper where he sat off the pace under Finnegan and looked to travel well throughout. Popped into the clear and loomed large to win but had to settle for second to stablemate More Than Exceed, with that form being franked by Double Denman. That reads well for this.

Danger

4 Mashaheer (Bet Now: $2.70) is a Snitzel colt on debut for the Hayes/Dabernig team. This bloke trialled all the way back in September at Wodonga when running second to a stablemate, who hasn’t quite gone on with it in two runs. Still, have to respect the fact the stable brings him all the way to Adelaide for the debut.

Long Shot

1 Manzala (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Poet’s Voice gelding for the O’Shea/Downing camp who is first up here. Debuted back in November on the course proper where he was hovering around that $10 mark in betting off an encouraging trial and he won quite impressively I thought. As to what he beat, not sure, but he did it in style. No trials leading in, but he has winning experience under the belt.

Race 2. (13:16) Palmer Hospitality Group Maiden Plate 1000m

Back Me

Pretty thin maiden but I think 2 Incomparable (Bet Now: $2.05) can get the job done. This gelding is first up for the Lloyd Kennewell team since debuting over 900m at Murray Bridge back in October where he got run off his legs early but picked and was good the final 150-200 when second to Military Forces. No trials leading in, but he has the form on the board.

Danger

6 Wokit (Bet Now: $12.00) is a son of Krupt on debut for the Ryan Balfour team. On breeding, you’d suggest he will come to hand early. Hasn’t been seen at the trials so there are a few unknowns with him, but I do like the fact the stable are running him at metro level at start one, possibly an indicator he may be talented. Market will be the guide.

Long Shot

8 M’Lady (Bet Now: $15.00) could well be the knockout. Daughter of Reset that resumes after a two run Winter prep to kick off her career, both of which were at metro level behind Wallace Street and Unscopeable, two of the better three year olds in Adelaide. That reads very well, and her trial here a tick over a fortnight back was strong.

Race 3. (13:51) The New Morphett Arms Hotel Handicap (82) 2250m

Back Me

5 Flying Casino (Bet Now: $11.00) is a bludger. Bless him, he does put in and is racing well at the moment. Just finding it hard to win with his last two runs being behind a couple of handy Weir runners in Andrea Montegna and Bondeiger. No horse of that calibre here, he’s down in the weights, he’ll be strong late. Happy to be with him.

Danger

3 Archery Peak (Bet Now: $1.95), on form, looks the one to beat, but I can’t touch him near even money. Yes, the run was very good last time out at Caulfield behind Bedford, who I am keen on in the first at the heath so by the time this race is run and won, you’ll know the strength. But generally, the Victorian form is far superior. But he was $51 that day. Being asked to take $2.10 or thereabouts…no thanks.

Long Shot

4 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up for John Hickmott after racing in the Birthday Cup last Saturday where I thought he got a fair way back off them and never really looked likely but his last 200m was excellent behind Exalted Lightning. Bit of an unknown at this distance range, but the way he is going, he should be respected.

Race 4. (14:26) Pimm's Handicap (64) 1250m

Back Me

8 Takemehomemister (Bet Now: $2.80) is such a big query here. Talented son of Denman that resumes for the Tony McEvoy yard. This bloke has shown good promise throughout his career but hasn’t quite gone on with it. Looks to have come back enormous if the January 29 trial win here is any indication. Looks ready to go.

Danger

2 Just A Bigger Dash (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Chris Bieg trained gedling who is racing in career best form at the moment. Just needs to put another win on the board to validate it. Thought he was the winner over 1200m on the course proper three weeks back but was nabbed right on the peg by the well backed Regal Spur. Good record on the Parks track and Fawke remains on.

Long Shot

1 Babitzin (Bet Now: $12.00) ran third in that Regal Spur race mentioned above. Thought he had every chance in the run, tucking in behind the speed under Huxtable and he tried hard but probably just ran out of gas late. Should get a lovely run from the gate again and Huxtable sticks, and his claim is a big tick.

Race 5. (15:01) Peroni Handicap (90) 1550m

Back Me

Happy to stick with 5 Scratchy Lass (Bet Now: $8.00). This girl is absolutely flying at the moment for the John Hickmott camp. She ran over the mile on the course proper three weeks back where she got back off pace and loomed large to win but the class of Lite’n In My Veins kicked in. Back to 1550m on the Parks track and back in depth should see her take beating.

Danger

1 Mihany (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Hayes/Dabernig trained runner who was well backed when resuming over 1400m here a fortnight back and aided by a lovely ride on speed from Fred Kersley, the galloper kicked hard on speed and just clung on to get the win. Can only see improvement off that and he appears to map super.

Long Shot

Look for an improved showing from 2 Magic Consol (Bet Now: $10.00).  He can be a hard horse to trust at times but he’s certainly up to these on his best form. ran over 1400m at Caulfield three weeks back where he was first up. Got back off the speed and couldn’t come on at all behind Manolo Blahniq. Has a really good second up record and drops in depth.

Race 6. (15:36) James Boags Premium Handicap (64) 1400m

Back Me

Taking a chance on 5 Naseeb (Bet Now: $6.00),  a lightly raced son of More Than Ready for the Sue Murphy yard. Debuted with a really nice win at Penola before going to Strathalbyn where he got back off the speed but rocketed home to just miss out on picking up Triple Spec. I think he’ll love the 1400m on the bigger track and can only see upside.

Danger

7 Mo Femme (Bet Now: $8.00) is an Uncle Mo filly for Phillip Stokes on the quick back up after breaking the maiden status over 1300m here last Wednesday. She was bolting in behind the speed and it was just a matter of getting clear air, which she got and she drew clear. Rise to 1400m looks no issue and she has upside.

Long Shot

10 Atlantica (Bet Now: $6.00) is on the seven day back up for Jim Smith after racing over 1200m on the course proper last Saturday where she was tucked in behind the speed but just lacked the turn of foot to go when the leaders did, but she stuck on well in defeat. The rise to 1400m should suit and is right down in the weights after the claim.

Race 7. (16:16) The Warradale Hotel Handicap (82) 1250m

Back Me

8 Blue Tycoon (Bet Now: $1.55) does look well placed here by the Hayes/Dabernig yard. Kersley gave the horse a peach of a steer at this track/distance a fortnight back where he had the gelding parked off a hot speed before getting clear air and finishing best for a nice win. Bit more depth here, but very hard to knock the way he is racing at the moment.

Danger

With the scratchings, Blue Tycoon does look a good thing. Only threat I can see, if any, is 4 This Kid Rocks (Bet Now: $4.60). He hasn’t raced for three weeks since racing over 1400m at Caulfield where he got midfield and pretty much stayed there behind Manolo Blahniq. Back to 1250m and back to this level should see him run well.

Long Shot

3 Captain Duffy (Bet Now: $26.00) is a handy stayer that resumes for the Phillip Stokes team. His best form will come at 2000m+, and he has done bugger all in four previous first up attempts, but I loved the way he moved in a recent barrier trial at Murray Bridge, where he won it, albeit in slow time. He can add some value to multiples.

Race 8. (16:56) Metcalf Group SA Handicap (75) 1000m

Back Me

4 Punt Club (Bet Now: $4.40) is a bit of an enigma but gee I think he finds a very winnable race here. He ran over the 955m at the Valley last time out where he got back off the pace and chased hard all the way when fourth to Angry Gee. Scratched from a 955m at the Valley on Friday night in preference for this.

Danger

5 Call Me Curtis (Bet Now: $7.00) is an enigmatic gelding that resumes for the Craig Curtis team. He put a horrific run of outs behind him with an all the way win over the 1250m here back in December before being tipped out. He returns to racing with that confidence under the belt. Resumes with no trials, but does go well fresh.

Long Shot

10 Nipperkin (Bet Now: $10.00) is a talented mare that resumes for the Bary Brook team. She was one of the real finds of the Winter/early Spring, winning a stack of races in town and generally performing at a reasonably high level. Not really a noted first up performer, but she’s a different/better horse now, so I’ll be interested to see how she performs.

Race 9. (17:36) Highway Hotel After Party Handicap (75) 1400m

Back Me

Michael Hickmott produced one of the better training efforts you’ll see with 2 Battlecamp (Bet Now: $5.50) when resuming over the 1250m here several weeks back. He was wide most of the way and was a noted drifter in betting but he just kept finding under Shayne Cahill and savaged the line to grab the win. Should only improve off that and now his confidence is up, he can go on with it.

Danger

6 Regal Spur (Bet Now: $4.40) has been quite good in two runs for the Tony McEvoy team. Resumed with an encouraging third behind Big Effort on Boxing Day before scoring a really tough and gritty win over 1200m on the course proper three weeks back under Paul Gatt. Has a good record on the Parks track and I think up to 1400m is ideal.

Long Shot

12 Bon Elise (Bet Now: $46.00) is a handy staying mare that resumes for the Peter Moody stable. This girl is best suited at 2000m+, as we saw last prep with a couple of wins at Gawler. Horror record on the Parks track, but she does have a strong fresh record and resuming without a trial is the interesting part. I’d watch the market/yard and see what it does.
