Talapega was good enough to win the Queen Of The North and then Zuko gets up for us at $21! View Adam Page’s best bets for todays racing.
Canterbury Race One: Number Three Markab
Looks his race today. Just found Hardbreak Hotel too strong first up then bumped into a handy horse in Zakynthos Imprintz and a good ride by Tim Bell last start. Today he meets a weak field, only has 55.5kg to carry, and there still appears to be upside about him which can’t be said for the others in this race. I’m very confident he’ll win.
Launceston Race Seven: Number Eight Tibooburra Travis
Not saying he is a good thing, but the $71 on offer for him is crazy. He might be regarded as a capable jumper, but his flat form isn’t that bad at all. Last year he was racing in some good races in Melbourne without having much luck. He has had three runs this time, with two duck eggs to start off with, then he showed his true form with a gutsy second last Thursday night carrying 63kg. He drops 10kg for that, drawn well (two) and is definitely the fresh horse on the scene. I wouldn’t rule him out at all.
Launceston Race Eight: Number Three Princess Quality
I think this mare from Tulloch Lodge can get home here. Was ordinary first up, then ran an even race when finishing fifth before coming to Tassie and running a strong fourth to Lady Lynette last start. Princess Quality should have finished much closer, but young Hamer rode her very poorly. Michael Rodd is on top today and that is a massive plus as he is a great judge of pace and can dictate on this ideal track for leaders.
