Racing returns to the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday for a strong eight race card. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race One (13:23) : Melbourne Park Hotel View Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 2 Mikuni (Bet Now:  $4.80) debuts here for the Tony McEvoy yard who comes here with no trials next his name, but it’s interesting that the stable did have the impressive debut winner Time Awaits nominated also, but instead go with the first starter.
Big Danger: 1 Mulk (Bet Now:  $3.00) debuted behind Time Awaits and he just looked like he needed the experience given he looked a little lost in the run. He has more upside and most importantly race experience, which is a big advantage.
Roughie: 3 Annifrid (Bet Now:  $4.40) is a Snitzel filly on debut for the David Jolly yard. She comes here with no public hitouts next to her name, but she does appear to be well bred and on that basis, she should be ready to go early on. Definite market watch.

Race Two (13:58) : Quayclean Handicap (90) 1950m:

Back Me: 1 Jims Journey (Bet Now:  $3.70) ran fifth in that race mentioned above and I thought he was quite disappointing given he was hard in the market and didn’t really fire a shot after receiving a soft trip out the back. The three runs prior at Blacktype level were very good, and if he brings that here, he’ll just about knock this field off.
Big Danger: 2 Shamkiyr (Bet Now:  $2.80) ran a couple of weeks back in the race mentioned above and he whacked away okay without threatening the stablemate Leica Day. Gee if ever he is going to win a race, this looks it. In the right stable and has upside.
Roughie: 5 Tunes (Bet Now:  $11.00) is on the back up after racing on the course proper over 2500m last Saturday where he sat on speed and fought on well but was simply no match for the Darren Weir trained Angels Touch. Nowhere near as strong here and he does save his best for the Parks track. Knockout chance at odds.

Race Three (14:33) : Akeed Mofeed @ Goldin Farms Maiden Plate 1000m:

Back Me: 14 Sweet Varden (Bet Now:  $3.10) is the best performer galloper in the race, so she has to go on top. She ran some really good races during the Autumn, including efforts behind Moqla and Neapolitan, both of which have gone onto better things. Comes here with no trials, but I think class gets her home.
Big Danger: 2 Fast Tycoon (Bet Now:  $4.40) debuted against the better performed three year olds over this track/distance three weeks back and he didn’t disgrace himself at all when running last of five to Mr Markou, beaten just under three lengths. Back to maiden grade, fitter…hard to beat.
Roughie: 3 Hannukah Gold (Bet Now:  $9.00) is a gelding on debut for the Stokes yard who comes here off the back of a couple of trial placings, the latest coming on October behind the well performed Bullion Wolf. Being by Not A Single Doubt, he won’t mind give in the track.

Race Four (15:08) : UBET Handicap (70) 1400m:

Back Me: 2 Northern Lass (Bet Now:  $5.50) looked in awful trouble when racing at Murray Bridge last time out but young Thornton got him into the clear and she attacked to take the lead then fend off a swooper. She has been freshened up and trialled pretty well to the eye behind Bullion Wolf. The one to beat.
Big Danger: 7 Cappadocia (Bet Now:  $6.00) got the job done on debut over 1000m here before going to Caulfield where she failed to measure up behind Sylpheed in a race where the form looks pretty good. Back home now, hard fit and stable is going very well, as they usually do. The main threat.
Roughie: 9 Veni Vidi Vici (Bet Now:  $15.00) was a drifter in betting when debuting at Murray Bridge a tick under four weeks back but gee I thought she was quite impressive, sitting back before presenting wide and letting down hard to get the job done. Harder here, but there is a lot to like about her.

Race Five (15:43) : Casino Royale @ Morphettville 02/12 Handicap (70) 2250m:

Back Me: I’m going for some value in 2 Have Plenty (Bet Now:  $3.50). He is on the back up after racing last Saturday on the course proper and he was pretty disappointing I thought when running last to Metro Cowboy. He is a three time winner on the Parks track and this race isn’t as strong. Definite contender.
Big Danger: 6 Just Ranger (Bet Now:  $7.00) might be nine years of age but gee he is racing well. He won at this track/distance three starts back before winning at Murray Bridge. He then raced there again last Wednesday where he got a long way back and working home well to run second to Swedish Bitters. Massive chance given the form he is in.
Roughie: 10 No Doubtfire (Bet Now:  $26.00) is on the back up after racing on Sunday at Bordertown where he was given a pretty ordinary steer and pretty much no chance on the bottomless track, but when clear he did pick up. This is a thin race so I think he could be in the finish perhaps.

Race Six (16:18) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (70) 1250m:

Back Me: 1 Grand Emperor (Bet Now:  $4.40) chased hard to get the win two back at Caulfield before going to Moe Cup Day last Thursday where he finished midfield behind the well performed stablemate Camdus. This looks a lovely assignment, even allowing for the weight and tricky gate. The one to beat.
Big Danger: 5 Federal Court (Bet Now:  $5.00) ran on the course proper a fortnight back where he was given a sweet steer from Bowditch before bouncing at the top of the straight and gripping on to win. This race doesn’t appear to have as much depth, so he has to go in as a major threat.
Roughie: 7 Alitaka (Bet Now:  $11.00) resumed here three weeks back in what looked a tidy race where he got back in the run and was a real eye catcher late when running third to Double Pockets. That horse failed in a tough race last week, so the form is a bit inconclusive, but this galloper has enormous upside.

Race Seven (17:08) : Schweppes Handicap (75) 1250m:

Back Mer: 1 Fine Approach (Bet Now:  $3.80) ran over 1200m on the course proper last time out where she was given a sweet steer just off the speed from Harry Coffey and she finished hard to grab Grey Street right on the peg. Has to rise a bit in weight, but the claim for Caboche is timely, plus she has a soft gate.
Big Danger: 4 Feelin The Love (Bet Now:  $3.80) is a former Kiwi mare that made her Australian debut on the Pakenham Synthetic and was far from disgraced I thought behind Demonstrate, who came out to bolt in on Wednesday at Geelong, so that is really good form, she has upside and this level really suits.
Roughie: 9 Freedom Road (Bet Now:  $11.00) resumed against the boys on the course proper two weeks back where she got a long way back in the run before saving ground nearer the inside and finishing off strongly late to run third to Federal Court. Back to her own sex now and fitter. Hard to beat.

Race Eight (17:48) : MAC Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (70) 1400m:

Back Me: 5 Strong Hand (Bet Now:  $6.00) ran time out at Bendigo where he sat off speed and chased hard all the way on the bottomless track to run fourth to Leotie. She ran okay in the Thousand Guineas, so you have to respect that here in this kind of race. Has upside and should take some beating.
Big Danger: 12 Roselli Sting (Bet Now:  $4.40) ran a fortnight back over 1200m on the course proper where he was $9 into around $2.40 and for not some interference on the home turn, he probably wins the race. Instead, he had to settle for a narrow second to Federal Court. He is absolutely flying and is a major contender here.
Roughie: 11 Simpatico (Bet Now:  $26.00) is racing so well at the moment. He ran on Murray Bridge Cup Day last week where he had a soft run near the tempo and fought on well but was no match for impressive winner Municipility. Has to do it away from Murray Bridge which is the query, but he is in career best form.
