Joseph Galati gives us his expert tips and selections for Morphettville racing on the Parks circuit this Saturday.
Race 1 – First race on a day which could very well be dominated by favourites. The 1000 metre sprint for 2 year olds highlights the first of eight races and Circumspect (3) looks the one to beat, home-bred by Darley and trained by Lee Freedman this son of Gonski looks the one to beat ahead of My Choisir (1) and Anythingthatmoves (2)
Circumspect (3) – My Choisir (1) – Anythingthatmoves (2)
Race 2 – Looks a Darley running double with Population (1) the top weight and indeed the top hope in this 1400 metre handicap. He has been racing in a very consistent fashion and should prove too strong. Mystic Moment (2) has returned from a spell with two recent wins and holds early favouritism whilst Metallic Grey (3) has been testing the patience recently but shouldn’t be disregarded totally.
Population (1) – Mystic Moment (2) – Metallic Grey (3)
Race 3 – Jesse’s Miss (2) is my best bet of the day, she is currently around the $2.20 quote but the way she won on debut at Seymour after jumping very awkwardly before settling back and wide, then pulling to the outside in the straight and winning. She looked quite green on that occasion but her win was strong enough to support her short quote. Aetos (1) will be extremely competitive and Sister Swank (4) should fill a placing.
Jesse’s Miss (2) – Aetos (1) – Sister Swank (4)
Race 4 – Looks another battle of the favourites in race 4 from Morphettville. Mystera (2) for Mark Kavanagh and Billy Egan, like Jesse’s Miss in the previous race looks a class above these. The mare by Umatilla is dropping back to 1400 metres after her last start 3rd over a mile a fortnight ago. Regardless she is clearly the one to beat. Havanotherone (3) and Midaras (9) could add some much needed value to the multiples.
Mystera (2) – Havanotherone (3) – Midaras (9)
Race 5 – Stirling Grove (5) won impressively down the straight on Melbourne Cup day at Flemington and like his predecessors looks to have one foot on the till. The 3 year old Gelding is currently rated a $2.00 chance but won’t need many favours to dominate this race. Take him one out in the first leg of the quadrella. Broken (2) should run second whilst Golden Snip (1) could run third.
Stirling Grove (5) – Broken (2) – Golden Snip (1)
Race 6 – Dark Knight (4) could be the one to buck the trend in the second leg of the quaddie. This isn’t the strongest race of the day but his second up record is great and he should show them the way home. Its hard to find others that excite so that could allow for some value, perhaps Bella Rossana (10) and Borat (5) could surprise.
Dark Knight (4) – Bella Rossana (10) – Borat (5)
Race 7 – Candle (1) looks to hold the key in the second last race. Having his third run back from a spell and having solid all-round form holds him in good stead for this race. Kaleske (3) will no doubt be competitive whilst Brimarvi Magic (6) will be thereabouts.
Candle (1) – Kaleske (3) – Brimarvi Magic (6)
Race 8 – The last race of the day is over the 2250 metres. It’s the last leg of the quaddie and going wide is the key. I’m leaning towards Just Sioux Me (9) who looks suited by the step up in distance and his current quote of $7.00 presents brilliant each way odds.
Dara Seans (3) and La Siroque (4) look good chances. Just Sioux Me (9) – Dara Seans (3) – La Siroque (4)
BEST BET: Double – Race 3 #2 Jesse’s Miss with Race 5 #5 Stirling Grove.
