21/3/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Eagle Farm

Nine races will be run and won at Eagle Farm on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

5 La Jument (Bet Now: $3.20) looks to be a good horse in the making and confident he can make his metro debut a winning one. Both career outings, each at the Sunny Coast, have resulted in impressive wins, the latest being over 1300m on a testing track and he drew clear late to win well. He’ll eat up 1500m here I think and looks the clear horse to beat.

6 Malawi Gold (Bet Now: $4.20) was scratched from a much easier race at Doomben on Wednesday in preference for this. Matty Dunn trains this four year old, who ran over the mile at Doomben three weeks ago and tried hard, but couldn’t quite get there when second to Eric The Eel, who was good in defeat last Saturday in a strong race, so the form doesn’t read to bad and should get a lovely run from the gate.

4 Metamorphic (Bet Now: $8.50) is having his second run for Kelly Schweida. Formerly with Chris Waller, had the first run for the new stable at Doomben last Wednesday and wasn’t too bad in defeat when fourth to surprise winner Princess Cavallo. That was his first run in a few weeks, so he’s got improvement to come, and at his best, he can win.

2 Bellissimi Amici (Bet Now: $2.40) can bounce back into the winners list. Ran over 1300m here two weeks ago where she had topweight and was back near last in the run. Took a while to get going, had her chance, but was still a good run when second to the well supported Tumbler Ridge. Think 1400m will suit her and hopefully the tempo isn’t a crawl this time around.

1 Tumbler Ridge (Bet Now: $2.70) is a Spill The Beans colt for Steve O’Dea that was backed with confidence when racing over 1300m here two weeks ago and under a lovely ride from Boris Thornton, the colt finished too well and was strong to the line, suggesting 1400m will be fine for him and he has plenty of scope to come.

8 Mishani Vandal (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Les Ross juvenile that comes through the Tumbler Ridge race from two weeks ago. He got back in the run and was quite keen in the run which left him with next to no petrol tickets for the straight behind the O’Dea youngster. Hopefully for his sake, the tempo will be more genuine this time around.

3 Kellstorm (Bet Now: $8.50) gets the nod for me. Handy stayer for Kris Lees that looks well placed third up at 2400m after racing over 2150m at Toowoomba last time out in what was a real sit/sprint, which doesn’t suit this pure stayer. Left flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and surged late. He’ll eat up 2400m on the big track and is one of the hardest to beat.

2 Breakdance (Bet Now: $3.70) has been up a fair while for Chris Waller but continues to race honestly. Ran over 2200m here two weeks ago and tried hard but Quality Seeker had too much class for his rivals and got it cheap in front, so those from behind didn’t have a chance, including this guy. Better suited if he’s on speed and rolling.

4 Holbrook (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Scott Morrisey trained son of Ocean Park that comes through the Quality Seeker race from two weeks back over 2200m here and despite having no real chance on paper, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind the in form Maher/Eustace stayer. Doubt he wins, but is one for multiples.

9 Winning Shot (Bet Now: $3.20) for me. Stuart Kendrick trains this filly, who lumped 61kg when taking on the older horses first up on her home track at the Sunny Coast and tried very hard, but her condition gave out late when beaten narrowly by Simply So. Gets really good weight relief, fitter and has a touch of class. Hard to beat.

8 I Am Venus (Bet Now: $6.50) is a daughter of I Am Invincible for Kelly Schweida that had trialled up well behind Zoustyle prior to resuming over this track/distance two weeks ago where she was quite good from off the pace albeit well held by impressive all the way winner Go Deep. Fitter, she can sit closer in the run, and this is a winnable race.

12 Cailini (Bet Now: $10.00) isn’t the most reliable galloper going around but her best is good enough to be around the mark. Was midfield behind Go Deep here two weeks back when resuming and while she was well held by that three year old, she was far from disgraced I thought. Better set up here I think and does have a touch of quality when right.

Can 7 Femme Fireball (Bet Now: $6.00) go on with it now she has a win on the board? Was racing really well without winning. Just needed to get that picket next to her name in the form guide for her confidence and she got it three weeks ago in impressive fashion at Doomben. 1500m is a little query, but hard to knock the way she’s going.

Was a very encouraging return from 5 Get Stuck In (Bet Now: $3.90) here two weeks ago. Admittedly he had a good run in transit just off the speed but still took advantage and found the line well when second to Emerald Kingdom. Fitter for that run and is a second up winner so there is a bit to like about him going into this.

Not going to drop off 8 Auerbach (Bet Now: $14.00). First two runs back from a break were very encouraging before racing over 1400m here two weeks ago and on face value, he was awful behind Emerald Kingdom, but the track was very shifty that day and some horses were getting beat big margins. So I’m forgiving and forgetting.

11 The Move (Bet Now: $3.30) is a Tony Gollan trained colt that resumes. This son of Hinchinbrook is a beast of an animal in terms of size. Disappointing when beaten as an odds on pop at this track/distance on Melbourne Cup Day before going to the Sunny Coast and he made an absolute mess of them in running very good time. Trial was good, he’ll be on speed and proving hard to get past.

I think you have to believe what you saw with 2 Go Deep (Bet Now: $5.50) and what he produced at this track/distance two weeks ago. He led throughout and gave his rivals a proper spanking, with the key being finding firmer footing, which is his go in life. Last time in work, he got better as the prep got deeper, so with that in mind, he’s really hard to beat here.

5 Oriental Girl (Bet Now: $12.00) is the big unknown here. Former North Queenslander who is simply too good for them up there, and how often do we see these horses measure up when coming to Brisbane eg Tyzone and Grey Missile. She has a tricky draw to overcome, but has a great record, so keen to see how she goes.

Hard to beat here is 2 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now: $2.80) I feel. Was worried I went off a run early with him two weeks ago and in the end, I did. Just got a mile back, was off the bit chasing but picked up and really savaged the line late in restricted room. Better for that run, finally out to 1600m…clear air and he beats these IMO.

1 Profit (Bet Now: $3.30) is four weeks between runs for Chris Anderson since racing over 1400m here where I thought he was a touch disappointing after getting every chance it seemed. He’s clearly better than that and has been prepared for this with a sharp trial win here earlier in the month. His class will carry him a long way towards victory.

7 Beachbreak (Bet Now: $8.00) is racing as if 1600m will suit. Ran over 1350m at Doomben back on March 4 and fair dinkum gave her rivals a spanking, sitting just off the speed before being presented clear air and away she went, winning by a space and charging to the line, suggesting 1600m is no issue. Just depends if she can handle the class rise.

Back up to 1800m, I’m in the corner of 8 Slow Hands (Bet Now: $2.90), who has been putting it together in recent times. Was good two back over this trip before coming back to the mile two weeks ago and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to a very much in form Plitvice. Back up to 1800m suits and finds a winnable race.

Up to 1800m and just about at peak fitness, 7 Galtero (Bet Now: $7.00) should just about be ready to show his best. He comes through the Plitvice race from two weeks ago where he seemed to get into a good spot just off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Like him up in trip and has a bit more upside than most engaged here.

6 Benfica Princess (Bet Now: $13.00) is a bit of an unknown at 1800m, but I reckon Kelly Doughty has this mare going super. Loved the way she found the line two back behind Peppi La Few before stepping up to 1600m and working home strongly despite wanting to lay in a touch when fourth to Plitvice. Off that, she should be okay at 1800m and is a knockout chance.

10 Epic Girl (Bet Now: $3.60) is running out of chances…she gets one more chance for me. Just found the 1000m a bit sharp two back behind noted short course specialist Boom Chicka Boom before racing at this track/distance when leading and tried hard behind Defence Missile, but that track that day was a bit shifty. Hopefully an even surface here, can sit on speed and prove hard to run down.

11 Boomtown Lass (Bet Now: $4.00) is racing really well for Chris Anderson but she just can’t quite crack it for a win at the moment. Tried really hard at this track/distance two weeks ago and loomed to win but the winner Defence Missile was too good and keep in mind had a 5kg weight swing. She’s knocking on the door and gets her chance.

2 Macewen (Bet Now: $7.00) is a Tony Gollan trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since resuming over 1200m at Doomben and liked the way he found the line late in the piece when third to Manaya. Looks well suited at Eagle Farm I suggest. Does he want further than 1200m? Perhaps, but the speed in front should be solid and he’ll get his chance.
