View tomorrow’s Group 2 The Yalumba 162’s runner by runner preview including tips and comments at Caulfield racecourse on Blue Diamond Stakes day.
1.Almindoro
Stamped himself as a very good staying type with strong performances during the Spring. Won his maiden last start at Moonee Valley.Wasn’t that impressive, but he has a lot of upside and is the one to beat.
2. Domesky
Did the job well to break his maiden status on Mornington Cup day. Has the penny dropped with him now also? Another that has shown plenty of promise, he can go on with it now.
3. Kim Divine
His last two wins have been very good, but I question how strong those formlines are. He does have J B Cummings training him and it is a staying race so you have to respect him.
4. Meaisin
Ran well when finishing second behind Folding Gear but this is harder and he is only a rough place hope.
5. Elusive King
This son of Elusive Quality is racing as if the 1800m will suit. Ran on well to finish second behind Population at Moonee Valley last start. Rises in grade but he has the Nolen/Moody combination and is drawn to get an economical trip.
6. Folding Gear
Did the job well at Sandown last start when forging clear at the 200m. Does have upside and is a knockout hope at good odds. He’ll be near the speed and he’ll keep chipping away.
7. Eureka Jack
No. Has been very ordinary this time in and will struggle in this.
8. I Think I Do
Couldn’t run on behind Dusty Star last start. He rises to 1800m, has the Cummings polish and I think he is a first four chance.
9. Clemente
Was solid behind Population at Elusive King, but this is harder and he was three lengths away from those two. Has Olly to ride and is trained at this track by Mick Price but he’d need to improve to trouble the top hopes.
10. Muirfield
Charged home at Sandown last time out over 1400m. His only win came when second up and Mike Moroney is a master in staying races. An e/w possibility.
11. Second Draw
It has been 42 days since he has run. He certainly has ability but I’m not sure this is his race. Follow him in easier races though as he’ll win them, but they are aiming a bit high here.
