The sixth race at Rosehill on Coolmore Classic day is the Phar Lap Stakes for 3 year olds, in an open betting Bullbars opened as the $3.30 favourite but is closely followed by Fast Clip. View my full race preview.
1. Bullbars – Hit the line strongly last start in the Australian Guineas, drops in distance slightly which i think will suit as he looked to have died in his run slightly over the final 100m. Looks to be a major player in the race, will go back and if the speed is on he will be finishing off hard down the outside. Big player.
2. Fast Clip – Only missed the placings two times from his eight starts, jumps up in class here and i think he is way under the odds at $3.50. Happy to leave out.
3. Halekulani – The better of the two Waterhouse runners and will start at better odds, had a very tough run last start and did well to battle on into third. Raced very well two starts ago and i think he will be right in the finish today. Great each way value.
4. Shadows in The Sun – Coming out of a strong race last start and will jump at huge odds, i think he is better than what the market represents. Boss is riding in great form. Each way value.
5. Blackie – Won his last three races although against much inferior competition, looks to be a horse on the improve and connections have a good wrap around him. Currently at $6 which is a bit short for me and id be happy to leave him out at those odds. Not worst but under the odds.
6. Slater – Hated by the punters, has been beating after being well supported in his last two starts. Can win on his best form but happy to leave him out. Place hope at his best.
7. Originate – Cant see him figuring in the placings.
8. Sworn To Secrecy – Coming out of two very good form races, looks to be similar competition here and will run an honest race. Again looks to be well under the odds at $5. Place hope.
9. Magic Ivy – Cant win.
