View tomorrow’s Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes’s runner by runner preview including tips and comments at Caulfield racecourse on Blue Diamond Stakes day.
1.Sistine Angel
Forget she went around first up. She was no hope after missing the kick and settling last. Steps up to 1400m, drawn perfectly in gate one and she oozes class. Expect her to be right in the finish.
2. Zelsnitz
Travelled big time in the lead first up in the same as mentioned above, but when Luke Nolen asked for an effort, there was nothing and after showing a little fight, she caved in to finish an average fifth. She should lead comfortably here and if she shows more fight, she’ll go close to winning.
3. Jessie’s Girl
Totally outsprinted behind Miss Gai Flyer when resuming. She is a handy filly who’ll appreciate the rise to 1400m. Drawn perfectly in barrier two so I wouldn’t rule her out.
4. Miss Elvee
Finished second behind Miss Gai Flyer but she was on-speed and the bias may have flattered her a bit. Drawn awkwardly but she’ll be up near the lead and she’ll give a sight at odds. Whether if she is tough enough to be the top fancies remains to be seen.
5. Pinker Pinker
This is the one I really like. Was absolutely bolting first up, but she couldn’t get out until the final furlong and by then Miss Gai Flyer was off and gone but she hit the line hard for third. She won’t get boxed in from barrier nine and if she gets cover here, she just about wins.
6. Sayahailmary
Was ok behind Enjin Number Nine at Sandown but this is harder. She is a good type, but she is just a tier below the top class so I can’t have her here.
7. Jeter
Definite value runner. Kept on winning in South Australia before being sent to Melbourne. Closed the race off hard behind Miss Gai Flyer and the 1400m is right up her alley. If the speed is on, watch out for her late.
8. Booklet
Caught the eye behind Miss Gai Flyer after missing the kick. She got buried back along the rail and Olly weaved his magic for her to finish seventh. If she doesn’t miss the kick here, she is a strong each-way chance.
9. Frenetica
She was ok last start, but I think she’ll struggle here. Happy to pass on her.
10. Kya
Certainly has the talent, but she is immature and she appears as if she needs more time. Follow her for the future but not here.
