The second race at Flemington on Saturday is the 2010 The Lexus Stakes over 2500m, In what looks to be a very competitive field with the bonus of the winner getting a ballot exempt start in the 2010 Melbourne Cup on Tuesday. Sydney galloper Maluckyday opened as favourite although has since drifted in betting to $4.80 equal favourite with last start Herbert Power Stakes winner Linton.
Top Selection:
Alcopop’s last run in the Caulfield Cup i feel should be forgotten, he didnt handle the ground at all and finished many lengths off the winner but so did half of the field on the Heavy 9 track. His run behind So You Think in the Turnbull Stakes i felt was very impressive and going off that form line he should figure in the race on Saturday. Should be able to sit mid to back of the field and will be running home strongly.

Second Selection:
Linton has promised to deliver a lot this preparation and off his last run it looks to be all coming together for the 4YO, the run was in the Herbert Power Stakes when he beat home Cederberg and Precedence who came out and won very well in the Moonee Valley Cup on the weekend. If he continues on from his last run he is one that will continue to improve and could prove himself as one of the best stayers in Australia.
Third Selection:
Maluckyday is a bit of an unknown heading into the race as it is his first race in Victoria and has no real form lines that match any of the other runners, his last start win was very impressive beating home Kontiki Park. Steps up in class but looks to be an improving type.
Best Roughie:
Jessicabeel was scratched from the Caulfield Cup due to the track conditions and was aimed at the Moonee Valley Cup although run poorly beaten only 1 runner home. Won the Sydney Cup in April although hasn’t done much since, is ballot exempt for Tuesdays Melbourne Cup although connections wont be taking her there unless she runs well on Saturday, has shown she has the class and could surprise at odds.
