The Sunsine Coast will host their biggest raceday this Satuday, with three blacktype events across the nine race meeting, including the $300,000 Caloundra Cup (2400m). The weather forecast is for showers, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:53) Reed Racing (Bm80) 1800m
9 Badoosh (Bet Now: $4.20) is hard to beat against this lot. Matty Dunn trained gelding that comes here a few weeks between runs since a closing third to Bartholemeu Dias at Eagle Farm in a good effort. Tick over trial last week was a good piece of work and he should be strong at the end in a race where there are question marks on several key chances.
1 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now: $13.00) finds a very winnable race compared to what he has been contesting his past couple where he has run at Group level and been outclassed. He is much better suited at benchmark level and is a two time winner here on his home track, so he’s a key threat.
15 Without Thinking (Bet Now: $5.50) is yet to prove himself at the trip but he’s racing like he will eat it up. Ran over 1666m two weeks back at Ipswich and he was a real eye catcher from near last on the turn when a closing third to Jakama. Home track advantage and up in trip, he appeals.
Race 2. (13:28) Martin Collins Aust.Final-Bm80 1200m
11 Red Rubi (Bet Now: $3.40) has come back a much better horse for a very much in form O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Bolted up over 1000m here in April before having a mini break and racing at Doomben where she sat back off a fast speed. Just a matter of getting clear air and once she got it, away she went, and she spanked them. Hard to beat.
5 Bonaparte (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented animal for Stuart Kendrick and we know this stable on their home track here are very hard to beat, He won at this track/distance last start in a Heat, sitting just off the speed before tracking up under Fradd and away he went for a dominant win. Leading contender.
12 Renouf (Bet Now: $7.50) saves her best for the Sunny Coast and this looks a clear target race. Resumed in a Heat of this Series at this track/distance just under two weeks ago and she was very good from the back when fourth to Bonaparte. If she can sit closer in the run, I think she’ll take a power of beating.
Race 3. (14:07) S. Coast Business Sol. (Bm90) 1000m
I’m with 5 Kingston’s Here (Bet Now: $1.80) for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Won 3/4 last time in, his latest run being a second at 1200m at Doomben to Montenegro Man. Given a good break, went like a jet in a recent trial win and I do think 1000m is his sweet spot. Keen on his chances.
8 Goldsborough (Bet Now: $2.50) looks primed to run well on his home track. Looked all over a winner two weeks ago at Ipswich but couldn’t hold out a proper tough nut in The Big Goodbye. He tends to save his best for 1000m rather than 1100m and on the home deck, he appeals.
A fast 1000m will suit 7 Mort Doyle (Bet Now: $13.00), who is hard fit and racing well. Ran over 1100m at the Gold Coast three weeks back and closed off nicely late from the back when fourth to a handy horse in Maximum Output. Carried 64kg that afternoon. He now tumbles to 53kg, so he’ll clearly have admirers.
Race 4. (14:47) Access Insulation S. Coast Hcp 1000m
12 Lime Soda (Bet Now: $4.20) gets the nod. On the seven day back up for Team Edmonds after a dominant win last Saturday at the Gold Coast where she was near the speed throughout before being clicked up by Fradd and away she went for a dominant win. Down in the weights, hard fit, she’ll take beating.
7 Muschialli (Bet Now: $4.80) is a son of Better Than Ready for Tony Gollan that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Jan 29 when racing at this track/distance when a close up fourth to a talented animal in the then in form Blackjack Boom. Just a soft trial under the belt, but he’ll be strong late off a good speed.
4 Princess Bojack (Bet Now: $11.00) comes into this off the back of a win at Ipswich two weeks back where she wasn’t really wanted in betting but I liked the way she kicked on late when challenged to fend them off and win. Back to 1000m I do like, hard fit, in form, she’s in with a shout for sure.
Race 5. (15:23) Bruce Mclachlan Classic 1000m
14 Catwalk Criminal (Bet Now: $4.00) on top. Adam Campton trains this filly off the back of a debut win at Beaudesert. She was a notable drifter in betting, but nobody told her that because she led throughout and moved like a really nice horse. The scratchings has made this field quite thin so confident she can measure up.
Back in trip I do like for 2 Northern Express (Bet Now: $6.00). Ran over 1200m at Ipswich two weeks ago where he tried hard but the six furlongs just found him out on a shifty track behind surprise winner Hattusa. Back to 1000m is a big tick and is a winner on wet ground. Likeable.
12 Spirit Of Milan (Bet Now: $17.00) is one to include for wider exotics. Debuted over 1110m at Doomben where she was on speed throughout under Jimmy Orman and looked to travel sweetly before being clicked up and she fought hard late to fend them off and win. Harder here, but has a good racing style.
Race 6. (16:02) Caloundra Cup 2400m
5 Bartholomeu Dias (Bet Now: $7.50) should appreciate the rise to 2400m. Annabel Neasham trained gelding that surprised most with a win over 1800m two back at Eagle Farm. He then went to the Ipswich Cup where he was forced to make his run nearer the inside, which wasn’t the spot to be, so a total forgive. Big track, 2400m, he’ll take beating.
9 Alakahan (Bet Now: $8.50) is a key threat. Team Freedman trained stayer that is a 2400m+ horse and looks to be spot on for it. Ran four weeks ago in the Winter Cup at Rosehill and just couldn’t quite get a chance to properly build the revs, just missing out on the win when third to Irish Sequel, who won the Brisbane Cup a week later, so the form reads well and I do think getting to 2400m on a big track is a big tick.
11 Pappalino (Bet Now: $41.00) has hard racing under the belt and won’t mind getting his toe in. Ran in the Brisbane Cup last time out and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Irish Sequel in a good effort. Loves getting his feet wet and if this becomes a slog, he’ll be strong late.
Race 7. (16:45) Winx Guineas 1600m
2 Battleton (Bet Now: $2.40) looks the one to beat. Three weeks between runs since contesting the Gunsynd at Eagle Farm where on the turn, he looked to be absolutely trucking, but just found one better in a good horse, Kiss Sum. Fresh legs, in form, bursting to win one and he gets his chance here.
10 Indiscreetly (Bet Now: $6.50) looks to be targeted at this race. Danny Bougoure trained filly that resumed a fortnight back over 1350m at Ipswich where she showed good ticker in the straight when challenged, just running out of puff late when second to Subterranean. Proven at the trip, she’ll take beating with good upside to come.
5 Ashgrove (Bet Now: $12.00) deserves another look. They seem to be obsessed with riding this horse forward but his lone win, they rode him with a sit. Attempted to lead throughout in the Gunsynd and tried hard, but was no match for Kiss Sum. If they ride with a sit, he’ll run a much improved race.
Race 8. (17:20) Glasshouse Hcp 1400m
11 Dzsenifer (Bet Now: $19.00) on top in an open edition of the Glasshouse. She comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile at Eagle Farm last time when trying hard but not sure she was entirely happy on the firm deck behind Kiku. Loves her home track here, she likes wet ground, she’ll roll forward and run an improved race.
3 Holyfield (Bet Now: $4.20) is heading in the right direction and has found winning form. The key being can he hold it. The ride from Loy was 12/10. Led throughout to win the Eye Liner and the initiative from the outset won the race. 1400m should be fine, he’ll land on the bunny and prove hard to beat.
7 Last Chance (Bet Now: $16.00) is one for exotics and is a definite knockout chance. He got a fair way back in the run last time out in the Eye Liner and despite never being a winning threat, he was good late when fourth to Holyfield. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous.
Race 9. (17:55) Ads On Wheels (Bm78) 1400m
14 Love Sensation (Bet Now: $9.00) has been pretty good in a couple of runs for Tony Gollan. Solid third here two back behind Roman Aureus before being thrown in the deep end in the Gai Waterhouse and she didn’t disgrace herself at all. I think she’ll love a rise to 1400m adn her best is clearly good enough.
13 Glitter Strip (Bet Now: $6.50) has returned in pretty good order for Tony Gollan and I think back to 78 grade, she appeals. Good second fresh at Doomben behind an in form The Big Goodbye. She then went to the Gai Waterhouse and was solid late without threatening behind Centrefire. Third up at 1400m in what looks a winnable, I’d say it is D-Day for her.
19 Thunder Mania (Bet Now: $14.00) has home track advantage and he’s racing as if 1400m will suit. Ran over 1200m at Doomben last Wednesday and worked to the line strongly from off the speed behind dominant winner El Vencedor, finishing second. If the inside is okay, he’s in with a shout.
