Rosehill Race Two: Number Five Slater
Boom horse who hasn’t quite delivered on the race track. Jimmy Cassidy declared him a future Group One winner after his debut win at Canterbury but since then he has only won a restricted race. He was very good first up with the 58kg at Randwick. Should have finished much closer, even though he was only beaten less than two lengths. The wide barrier will help him here as he is the sort of type that needs clear space and he won’t get cluttered up in between horses here. $10 looks very good for a horse of his quality.
Newcastle Race Seven: Number Nine Hussterics
The daughter of Hussonet could not have been more impressive on debut at her home track (Scone). She absolutely bolted in, winning by five lengths, and seemingly looks a very good horse in the making. Paul Messara could have easily sent her to the city but he has stuck to the provincials. Ganderton is riding and from gate one she’ll get the plum run. Very safe bet as far as I’m concerned.
Flemington Race Four: Number Eight Do Ra Mi
Very, very, very confident about this filly in the Vanity. Won like a superstar first up at Warnambool when leading throughout to give her rivals a spanking, then led again at Sandown and cruised away for a very impressive victory. Has to step up here against some handy fillies, but on paper she gets the easiest lead in the world and should win again. The $2.05 is generous odds.
