19/3/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gold Coast, QTIS Jewel day

A bumper nine race program has been set down for the Gold Coast on Saturday where it is Aquis Jewel Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

9 Rich Lister (Bet Now: $2.30) to bounce back. She spanked them fresh at Doomben before going to Toowoomba where I just don’t think she handled the tricky track. More even lay out here and third up from a break, she should be at peak fitness and confident she can bounce back.

5 Nicci’s Spirit (Bet Now: $8.50) is a talented mare resuming for Tony Gollan. Her last run came on November 20 in a strong 75 at the Sunny Coast and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Darleb. Usually comes to hand early in the prep and despite drawing wide, I think she commands respect.

2 Plutocrat (Bet Now: $14.00) is a daughter of Rich Enuff for Chris Anderson that resumes. She hasn’t raced since December 29 when a strong winner at Ipswich, leading throughout. She’s a mare who can come to hand quickly and I thought she moved well in a recent trial win. Keen to see how she goes.

I’ll take a chance with 9 Dixon Bay (Bet Now: $12.00). Son of All Too Hard for Gillian Heinrich that resumes, having not raced since September 1 at Doomben when down the track behind Big Bad Bruce. He has trialled up well leading in for his return and he does have home track advantage.

11 Spending My Time (Bet Now: $10.00) looks to have returned in good order. Just doesn’t want the track too wet. Resumed in the Shamrock Lu race from a few weeks back and he was a real eye catcher from near last, finishing a close up fifth, beaten just over a length. If the track can dry right out, he’s certainly in the mix.

3 Prairie Fire (Bet Now: $19.00) has had a few runs now for Les Kelly and I don’t think has been too bad. Formerly with Danny Williams, his runs in Queensland haven’t been too bad, the latest behind Go Wandji/Winside. You always have to respect Les Kelly when he races here on his home track.

1 Youngblood (Bet Now: $12.00) is in for a good prep I feel for Tony Gollan. Market didn’t want a bar of him when he resumed at the Sunny Coast over 1400m but liked the way he finished his race off behind Gave Us Up in an encouraging return. Might want one more, but it’s an encouraging return.

I’m giving respect to 18 Elegant Drover (Bet Now: $9.00). Resumed over 1400m on the Poly at the Sunny Coast where he was a drifter in betting but despite that, I thought he ran a super race in defeat when second to Sanzera. Straight to 1800m second up does have a good second up record.

17 Applications (Bet Now: $7.00) rises a fair bit in grade/depth, but the Thornton camp has him absolutely flying at the moment. Dominant win here two back before going to the Poly at the Sunny Coast where he led throughout and made a mess of them. Good test here, but think he can measure up.

5 Tamilaide (Bet Now: $4.20) has home track advantage and is flying at the moment. He has won three on the bounce, the latest being two weeks ago at Toowoomba where he was blessed in the run, but still had to take advantage of that and he did. Been up a while, but only think he has to hold his form to take beating.

It’s hard to ignore the way 13 Sayl (Bet Now: $8.50) is racing this time in for Lindsay Hatch. Strong win from off the speed to win two back on Ballina Cup Day before stepping up to metro grade at Doomben and gee he was strong late in putting them away with a fair amount of ease. Off that, he’ll measure up here for sure and is hard to beat.

11 Tavion Prince (Bet Now: $17.00) looks suited here. He was several weeks between runs when racing two weeks back at Toowoomba. He tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get past Tamilaide. He has upside to come and the rise to 1800m looks ideal. Has to rate highly against this lot.

2 Remlaps Gem… (Bet Now: $2.20) is he the best 900m horse in Australia? I was amazed he drifted in betting over the trip at Newcastle given his record at the trip and really, he made an absolute mess of them. Won at this track/distance the start prior and really, you just can’t get away from him.

5 Pizonie (Bet Now: $12.00) doesn’t want the track too wet so firmer the better. He didn’t win in a Winter/Spring prep, but was far from disgraced behind some pretty talented types. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh and looks to have trialled up quite well leading in.

3 Le Palmier (Bet Now: $3.10) is a Tony Gollan trained sprinter that resumes. He can be a bit hit and miss but his best is certainly good enough to be around the mark. His best saw him beat up Stakes class animal Simply Fly but next start he failed to beat a runner home behind Kylease. Looked to move well on speed in a recent trial. Just not sure om him if the track has genuine give.

5 She’sgottheboom (Bet Now: $1.55) looks really similar to Rothfire from a couple of years ago in this race. The only query is 1200m. If she runs it out strongly, she wins and wins like a $1.20 pop. Arrogant win in the Prelude at Toowoomba two weeks ago and really, off that, it should be a painless watch.

3 Toba (Bet Now: $61.00) will love a high pressure 1200m. Ran in the Boys Prelude to this race two weeks back and worked to the line pretty well from off the speed. He was back to 1100m from 1200m on debut so back up to 1200m looks ideal and I think he has talent. First four threat.

2 Better Rain (Bet Now: $26.00) brings the North Queensland form and I think it does command some form of respect. Last couple of starts have resulted in dominant wins at Rockhampton where he has bashed up She’s Winning, who is an okay horse but was comfortably held on Tuesday at Mackay, so how strong is the form? Not overly, but he’s a winner and a line chaser.

11 Nicci Trix (Bet Now: $10.00) is a beauty for Lauren Abbott and will look the winner for the most part. Just the last 50-100m will be the test. That was the case when she resumed three weeks ago at the Sunny Coast. Looked home but was nabbed late by Shamrock Lu. If she finds the front and gets control, she’ll take beating.

5 Boomtown Lass (Bet Now: $6.50) is a tick under two weeks between runs for Chris Anderson since a strong win at the Sunny Coast over 1000m, with the mare seemingly appreciating the drop back to a short course trip. I think that could be her go in life, so with that in mind, she appeals.

9 Winside (Bet Now: $11.00) rises a bit in grade/depth, but gee she’s going well for Team Geran. Looked like she would run a narrow second at Toowoomba last time but the last couple of strides, she surged and on the line, shared the spoils with Go Wandji, who I think is Stakes class, so the form reads okay for this.

1 Tiger Legend… (Bet Now: $5.50) what a fascinating set up this is. I can only guess he’s on his way to Hong Kong given the name change (formerly Tiger Heart), and now has the Bon Ho colours, and is now with Les Bridge. Trialled up super at Warwick Farm on Monday and he brings the A1 form.

2 Prince Of Boom… (Bet Now: $2.15) can you trust him? If you can, he likely wins this race. He resumed in the Prelude to this race two weeks ago at Toowoomba and he spanked them from the front in a brilliant return. He can be hit and miss, but if he brings his best, he takes this out.

9 Mishani Sniper (Bet Now: $91.00) is a knockout chance. He ran behind Prince Of Boom at Toowoomba and I really liked the way he finished his race off from near last on the turn. He has solid form around him and if he gets a drag into the race, I think he can be quite dangerous here.

3 Tumbler Ridge (Bet Now: $5.00) is a quality animal for the O’Dea/Hoyted camp that has class and the class got him home at Toowoomba fresh, just getting the better of Montenegro Man. Fitter, up to 1400m with plenty of upside to come, gee I think it all points to him taking this out.

11 Safework (Bet Now: $6.00) has home track advantage and is flying for Scott Morrisey at the moment. Strong winner at Doomben two back before going to the Poly at the Sunny Coast where he handled the track fine and made a mess of them. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

10 Cracker Essgee (Bet Now: $9.50) is four weeks between runs and has the Michael Costa polish, as well as being on his home track here, so he commands respect. He finished best to win over 1350m at Doomben under a peach from Maloney. He has home track advantage, so he should take beating.
