A solid ten race program has been assembled for Eagle Farm this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:38) Tab (rs1mw) 1800m
7 Clevanicc (Bet Now: $7.50) can bounce back here. Kris Lees trains this gelding, who is three weeks between runs when racing over this track/distance a fortnight ago when back and wide in the run and was never really in the hunt behind Bering Sea. His form prior didn’t read too bad and overall, this isn’t the strongest race going around, so an improved showing is on the cards IMO.
Stephen Lee is doing a fab job this time in with 3 Pleased (Bet Now: $3.30). He had the A1 sit behind the speed over 2000m at Doomben three weeks ago and once Bayliss got clear air on the gelding, he didn’t show a bad turn of foot and put them away impressively. Don’t mind him back to 1800m, he can take up a spot near the speed and he’ll be strong at the end of 1800m.
2 Ready For Danger (Bet Now: $4.20) has certainly got the talent to beat these, but his racing pattern is letting him down. He ran over 2000m at Doomben three weeks ago where he was back near last in the run on a day where those on speed were advantaged, so for mine, he was a forgive run behind Pleased. Bigger track and back in trip I like, and hopefully the tempo was more genuine.
Race 2. (13:13) St Ritas College Clayfield Hcp 1000m
I’m buttering up with 1 Gotta Kiss (Bet Now: $1.80). Been red hot on her since I first saw her trial and I think she’ll keep winning. Debuted here two weeks ago and despite doing a bit wrong, she was just far too good for her rivals. Has the run under the belt, should have natural improvement off that and barring bad luck, I think she’ll be winning once again and stamping herself as a Magic Millions filly.
3 Rothfire (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Rothesay gelding for Rob Heathcoate that is on debut. This bloke trialled last Tuesday at Doomben when absolutely bolting up in front, winning by seven lengths and running sharp time. Looks a real speed demon and will look the winner for a fair way I think. Just a matter of whether or not he’s professional enough to lead all the way at start one.
5 Miss Lot Won (Bet Now: $26.00) is a Siderius filly for Tom Button that comes from Rockhampton for start one so interesting she debuts in town, but she was the standout in a September 13 set of jumpouts at Rockhampton, doing a bit wrong but showing good change up speed to win her jumpout in good style. Looks to be some nice types stepping out, so rather watch than back, but a positive showing wouldn’t shock.
Race 3. (13:48) Proav Solutions Queensland-c3 1000m
Going the way of 10 Shalwa (Bet Now: $2.50). This mare was a notable drifter in betting when resuming at Doomben on September 14 and the market got it right as she was near the speed and seemed to have her chance when fourth to Veranes. Been given a freshen up and trialled very well last week at Doomben, so keen to see how she goes second up against this lot.
I’ll take a punt on 6 V J Day (Bet Now: $3.30), who is resuming for Kacy Fogden. Had one for the stable back in the Autumn at Ipswich when just off the speed and trying hard but couldn’t quite get there when third to the then in form Ditmas. Deagon trial a few weeks ago was quite good and based on his form in the UK, he does tend to race well when produced fresh.
I’ve always had time for 9 Cailini (Bet Now: $11.00), trained by Tony Gollan. She ran over 1000m at the Sunny Coast last time out and was a little unlucky. Got a good run behind the speed and was looking to get clear early, but couldn’t really get clear air until late and should have finished a touch closer when third. This looks a winnable race for her so giving her a chance in town.
Race 4. (14:23) Madison Cleaning Serv. (rs1mw) 1000m
If 4 Jadentom (Bet Now: $4.80) is anywhere near right re fitness, she wins. Talented mare for Lindsay Hatch that resumes, having not raced since the Summer/Autumn, where she won a couple of races at the Sunny Coast and is a mare who is lethal with fresh legs. Has an outstanding first up record and is a three time winner at 1000m, so keen to see how she goes here fresh.
You’re a brave punter to back
10 Rebel Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) to win, but gee she finds a thin race. Been poorly placed in her three runs back from a spell, where she has been tested against good fields and pretty much in unsuitable races. This looks her go and the key to her is being cuddled just off the speed and saved for the last 100-150m, because she has a short, sharp turn of foot, then paddles.
11 Gatlinburg (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Team Meagher trained six year old who is third up here and should be just about at peak fitness. He ran at Doomben three weeks ago and battled away well in defeat without really threatening behind Cool Sequence. He has gate one this time around and I think he’s a 1000m horse, so he has the barrier to use to advantage and is at decent odds.
Race 5. (14:58) Likeminded Painters Aust. (c3) 1600m
A rise in trip will definitely suit QLD Oaks runner up 9 Dawson Diva (Bet Now: $4.80). Had her first run since that Group l placing over 1400m here a fortnight back and I thought the run was a pass mark behind Enterprise Prince considering she was a stayer first up over an unsuitable trip against some in form gallopers. Suited up in trip, fitter, and she’s very well in at the weights I think considering her record.
4 Aeecee Tong Dee (Bet Now: $2.80) on top for me. Desleigh Forster has done a really good job with this mare and I think she’s flying. Ran over 1400m here two weeks ago where she was given a lovely ride just off the speed under Du Plessis and tried hard, but couldn’t produce the same finale as the in form Enterprise Prince and went down narrowly. Confident she can go go close.
5 Drumadoir (Bet Now: $13.00) can improve here. This mare was 1200-1600m when racing at Doomben three weeks ago where she was back near last in the run and never really a winning factor but did make up ground late behind the in form Oink. That run should bring her right on for this, and now she’s had the mile run under the belt, she’ll take some beating.
Race 6. (15:33) Dss Law Hcp 1200m
Going the way of 2 Top Striker (Bet Now: $7.00). He was seven weeks between runs when racing over 1110m at Doomben three weeks ago when back off a fast speed and was run off his legs, but closed off with real purpose late when fourth to Cool Sequence. Fitter and up to 1200m on the bigger track, this looks a very winnable assignment and should take some beating.
6 Stella Victoria (Bet Now: $4.00) is a daughter of Foxwedge resuming for the Rob Heathcoate stable. This girl didn’t exactly measure up in two runs during the Brisbane Winter Carnival so stable pulled the pin after the second run. Been given a good long break and loved the way she trialled when winning her respective heat at Doomben. Her best would see her go close.
1 Tisani Tomso (Bet Now: $13.00) is an absolute beauty for the Kevin Kemp stable. On the quick back up after racing on Sunday when surprisingly off the speed but found the line well late when beaten a lip by Boomwaa. Remains really well in at the weights after the claim for promising apprentice Adin Thompson, and gets gate one, so keen to see how he goes back in town.
Race 7. (16:23) Clayfield Jewellery Hcp 1600m
If this was the wet track, I’d be declaring 5 Zourkhan (Bet Now: $7.50). Chris Waller has him going super based on what I’ve seen at the trials, notably the first trial at the Gold Coast where he closed off with purpose. Second trial at Doomben was good, but not as good visually. 1600m first up tells me he’s nearly ready re fitness and this doesn’t appear to be a strong open handicap.
2 Sabkhat (Bet Now: $5.50) may want a bit further, but I reckon Steve O’Dea has him going well. Ran third to El Campeador two back before going to the Fortensky race from three weeks back at Doomben when on speed and fighting on well to run third to the Waller galloper. 1600m is a step up, but perhaps he wants a bit further, maybe 2000m, so may need one more, but keep an eye on betting.
3 Testashadow (Bet Now: $7.50) can bounce back hard here. He was good here two back behind Kubis when a close up third. He then went to the Cameron at Newcastle where he was wide no cover on speed and dropped out behind Rock. Couple of winners have come out of that race, so it reads well for a weak-ish handicap in Brisbane. Just needs luck from a tricky draw.
Race 8. (17:00) Hmw Group Hcp 1200m
5 Atlantic King (Bet Now: $5.50) does look a progressive three year old for Matty Dunn. Comes out a red hot maiden form reference on debut when fourth to Flaming Boss before bolting up to break the maiden status next time out. He looks to be heading in the right direction and he does look well placed up to 1200m, so I think he can measure up against this lot.
1 Better Reflection (Bet Now: $2.50) is an absolute beauty for the John Wigginton stable. She was one of the better juveniles from last season and was hard in the market when resuming at Doomben three weeks ago due to her 2YO form. She was gifted a rather soft lead and Ryan Maloney took full advantage, getting the win over Gem Of Scotland, who won last Saturday to tick that form off. Hard to beat here again.
I like the way 9 Clever Miss (Bet Now: $21.00) is going about her business for Stuart Kendrick. Just found the 900m too short two back at the Gold Coast before stepping up to 1000m at the Sunny Coast where she appreciated a fast speed and finished best to win. Was down to run last Saturday but was scratched and instead runs here in what looks a weaker race. Keen to see how she goes.
Race 9. (17:38) St Rita's College (bm70) 1200m
Think 8 Dreamreacher (Bet Now: $3.50) deserves a chance in town. Gillian Heinrich trains this gelding, who was an odds on pop when resuming on his home track at the Gold Coast but nothing really went right for him and you could make a case that with clear air he wins, instead of running a close up fifth to Miss Beneteau. Spanked them second up last prep, so giving him another chance.
7 Trail Of Glory (Bet Now: $5.50) is flying for Tony Gollan. This proven city performer has won her past two, the latest coming at the midweeks on September 25 at Doomben when back in the run and finishing best to win. Tricky gate to overcome, but hopefully Nothdurft can get three wide cover from the barrier and if that eventuates and she can get a drag into the race, she’ll be dangerous.
6 Ima Teaboy (Bet Now: $9.00) is 0/3 at 1200m, but the way he’s racing at the moment, he looks like he wants it. He ran over 1100m at Ipswich last time when back off speed and wobbled on the turn but balanced up and surged hard to just miss out on the win. Clearly harder here, but he’s just racing so well at the moment and is worthy of a crack in town.
Race 10. (18:22) brc.com.au (bm80) 1400m
15 Barefoot (Bet Now: $5.00) is an interesting runner. She was really tried when resuming over 1350m at Doomben but didn’t fire a shot at all and ran last behind Sky Lake, but considering they have run home in a tick over 33 for the last 600m and she was first up, there were excuses. 1400m on the bigger track off a more genuine tempo, she’s got the class to bounce back.
12 Sparky Lad (Bet Now: $6.00) is an improver at odds. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when well back off the speed, spotting Langhro 10+ lengths, and was never really in the hunt, but did make ground and wasn’t too bad behind Enterprise Prince. That was his first run in five weeks, so you’d like to think there is room for a bit of improvement.
13 The Bandit (Bet Now: $18.00) is a Team Meagher trained galloper who is over a month between runs since racing over the mile at Doomben at the midweeks where he had no luck at all in the straight and I think with clear air, he goes close to winning when fourth to Get Stuck In. Gets gate one to use…the interesting pointer is that he comes back to 1400m. Does he have the zip in the legs?
