The big6 for Victorian punters on Saturday is on races 3-8 at Moonee Valley. Here is my $20 strategy.
Leg 1 – Very hard way to kick off the big6. Population is always around the money and can win here. Chasse is a bulldog and fights on all day. Volando is getting closer to another win. Is it here? Barangaroo gets some weight relief and has won at the Valley which is a big bonus in a three-year-old race. Sidecar was most unlucky when resuming and has plenty of upside.
Leg 2 – Go My Girl has been heavily supported with the corporate bookies and looks awfully hard to beat, but the threat will come for Third Day. Finds it very hard to win but surely her day is nearby. Can’t really see any of the others threatening.
Leg 3 – Zoomin is getting back to his best and just about looks his race. Only worry is the rider, because the horse needs a an aggressive rider, not sure Stackhouse is that. Include Riveted, Royal Commands and Titus Vinius, who loves the Valley and can turn his form around quickly.
Leg 4 – Mid Summer Music was very good when winning first up and can go on with it here. About Ready has the claim for Dan Stackhouse and has class. Big Spirit gives 110% each start. She sits on the speed and keeps on keeping on. Rue Maple looks the big threat if they go mad in front. One of this quartet should win. Include Miss Independent if she runs here.
Leg 5 – Got it between four horses here. Philda was a bit ordinary last start but he has a great record at Moonee Valley and gets his chance to win here. Mont Fleuri was game in defeat last start after carrying 59kg. Drops 8kg here and the small field helps. Looks well placed by Lee Freedman. Snort hasn’t won for three years but his effort last start at this track and distance suggests that he might turn back the clock. Finishing Card missed the kick and never fired in the Mildura Cup as a well backed favourite. Loves the wet ground and is on the limit for Froggy Newitt.
Leg 6 – Second Effort looks the safe way to seal the deal for punters here. Has been very good at his past three and he still looks to have improvement in him. Stand him out and cheer him home.
Leg 1: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10
Leg 2: 3, 6
Leg 3: 2, 4, 5, 9
Leg 4: 1, 2, 4, 7
Leg 5: 3, 4, 6, 10
Leg 6: 7
A $20 investment = 3.12% of the dividend if successful.
