Adam Page gives us his Big 6 tips for today’s Canterbury meeting, the first leg being race 2 which is scheduled to jump at 1:50PM.
Canterbury Race 2 (Leg 1) – Gandalf The White had no luck at Flemington on Oaks day when racing wide
throughout. Drops big time in grade here and should be on the speed. 20-45mm of rain is expected to hit
Canterbury before Wednesday which won’t be a problem for this gelding. Dangers are Admiral’s Coup,
Atlanta Falcon, Future Solution and Sunday’s Choice.
Canterbury Race 3 (Leg 2) – Punters have to give No Respite another go here. He was the Bookie’s pal last
preparation but he has form behind Lovemelikearock, Monaco Consul, Shannara, and Star Of Octagonal.
That should be good enough to beat these. Salvation Creek has trialled well leading up to this. Sure Division
was only beaten 3 lengths behind boom horse Shamash first up. He’ll be much fitter.
Canterbury Race 4 (Leg 3) – Plenty of hopes here. Thegreatandthegood has the class factor but hasn’t
raced since finishing well back behind Shamrocker in the Sire’s Produce at Flemington. Unflinchingresolve
has been freshened for this and looks well placed. High Finance raced well last preparation and his trials
suggest he’ll fire first up. Jacopo beat an ordinary bunch at Gosford but can take the next step to city class.
Studious is a first starter from the Anthony Cummings camp that has trialled really nicely for his debut run.
Under Arrest produced a smart on-pace win last start and can repeat from barrier one.
Canterbury Race 5 (Leg 4) – Got to be brave here and stand out Cuddles For Naara. Her runs last
preparation were solid against horses like Toorak Toff, Star Witness, Willow Creek and More Strawberries.
Latest trial was good and Nash will have her in a great spot from barrier four. Looks very hard to beat.
Canterbury Race 6 (Leg 5) – Hot Stash was caught wide and the effort told late first up. Has been freshened
for this and she can roll forward here and with the 3kg claim for Taylor Lovelock-Wiggins, this daughter of
Secret Savings will prove worthy opposition. Loves wet tracks and may get that here. Essence Of Success
has trialled very well for this. These two should fight it out.
Canterbury Race 7 (Leg 6) – Leicester Square is a very smart horse. Forget last start. He didn’t appreciate
the firm going. Gets the 1.5kg claim for Brenton Avdulla which he’ll love. If the rain tumbles, he is a worry so
include Mohtashem, who looked very impressive winning at Newcastle last start. Always respect the Chris
Leg 1: 2,4,5,6,9
Leg 2: 3,4,5
Leg 3: 3,4,5,6,8,10
Leg 4: 1
