17/10/2020 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Morphettville will play host to a nine event program on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1200m-Winning Post; Out four metres for the remainder.

4 Jacobite Prince (Bet Now: $1.65) is a ripper and I think he’ll take a power of beating here. Phillip Stokes trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after racing over 1100m here last Saturday, his first run in seven weeks. Was wide no cover throughout near a good speed and he was entitled to throw in the towel, but he kept finding under pressure and was really good in defeat behind Kayseri. Fitter, up to 1200m, happy to be in his corner.

1 Dexelation (Bet Now: $3.10) has been up forever it seems but continues to race well for Team Jolly. He was four weeks between runs when racing here last Saturday where the slow tempo played against him but was sound nearer the inside when third to Tequila Time. If the tempo is more genuine this time around, he can win for sure.

5 Exalted Lauretta (Bet Now: $12.00) is an absolute beauty for the Grant Young camp. Tries hard every time she steps out, much like the vast majority of the Grant Young runners that step out. She ran third to Trip on the Parks track last time out and was sound in defeat, albeit no match for that mare. Think she’ll run her usual honest race.

13 Star Of Uma (Bet Now: $1.85) on top. Team McEvoy trained filly that resumes, having not raced since Anzac Day in the Breeders Stakes at Morphettville when tailed off last behind Ecumenical, but was three and four wide no cover for the trip, so a total forgive. Has trialled up well leading into this campaign and I think she can get away with this fresh.

16 Noname Lane (Bet Now: $4.80) is the big watch here. Will Clarken trained galloper that returns to racing as a gelding. Hasn’t raced since his debut at Gawler back in September 2019 when down the track behind Newbay Flyer. Returns as a gelding and has looked to jump out well, plus there has been market support to suggest he’ll run well fresh.

6 Lyrickin’s Dream (Bet Now: $35.00) can fill a first four spot at a big price. She’s had 25 races to date without a win so highly unlikely that run of outs changes in town, more likely during this upcoming Port Lincoln season, but her effort at Murray Bridge from the back last time out was pretty good. Does no work from the gate and is one for exotics.

Think this is really good placement with 7 Enrico Pallazzo (Bet Now: $11.00). Was a month between runs and was 1400m to 1980m when giving them a spanking at Tatura, and he was strong to and through the line in winning. Placed in his lone run at Morphettville when last in work and he’s got more upside than most here. Keen on his chances.

Mick Huxtable has 3 Ritratto (Bet Now: $2.50) back to his best. It’s been a really good training effort by him, sending him back in grade to get his confidence up and he’s been rewarded at the past two starts with a couple of strong and impressive wins. Suited up to 2000m and I don’t see the seven day back up being an issue.

5 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $41.00) is a beauty for John Hickmott and he can run a much improved race from what he produced on the Parks track last time out behind Darlamax. On face value, he was plain, but have to remember he was back and wide when trying to make a run, and the way the track played, he had no chance. Giving him another look.

3 Celestine (Bet Now: $3.90) is looking to make it 4/4 and I think she can do it. Team McEvoy trained filly that has been impressive in her short career to date, her latest win coming down the Flemington straight where she had to knuckle down strongly and did so, getting up to win. She’s a real line chaser and is hard to beat here.

6 Quietly Discreet (Bet Now: $2.40) should take some beating here for the Phillip Stokes camp. Three weeks between runs since bolting up over 1250m on the Parks track, leading throughout and she gave them a proper spanking, justifying the very short quote in betting. Good test for her here, but she does look a good prospect.

4 Alleboom (Bet Now: $6.00) is a progressive Spirit Of Boom colt for the Jolly camp that comes here with his confidence sky high after giving them a galloping lesson to win over 1000m on the Parks track a fortnight ago. What I will say is that there was a clear bias towards those on speed, so the 5.5L margin was flattering, but still, he was dominant. Keen to see how he goes up to 1200m.

1 The Difference (Bet Now: $1.95) is three weeks between runs for the McEvoy camp since racing over 1300m where I thought Vorster gave him just about every chance. Was there to win, but couldn’t put it away when a close up second to Alsvior, who ran super last Saturday, so think that is the right form for this kind of race.

3 Renegade (Bet Now: $6.50) has been pretty solid in a couple of runs back from a spell for Team McEvoy in strong races in Victoria. Resumed with a fourth at Bendigo behind subsequent city winner Zousonic before going to Flemington when back and failing to make up headway behind Chaillot. That form reads well and has upside.

6 Equus D’Oro (Bet Now: $6.50) is a definite winning chance here. He was backed with confidence late three weeks ago on the Parks track but just did that little bit too much work to get on speed and spending those petrol tickets early just told late. If he can get a more economical run this time around, think he’ll be dangerous.

Robbie Griffiths has found an ideal race for his mare 8 Collectable (Bet Now: $3.30). She ran over the mile at Bendigo last time out in a Benchmark 70 race and was good late from off the speed. Tumbles down to a 58 race yet looks really well in at the weights. Knock on her is that she’s 500 odd days between wins, so has she got the killer instinct still?

6 Rock Steady (Bet Now: $4.80) is a key threat for me. Phillip Stokes trained four year old that had late support when resuming on the Parks track two weeks ago, but have to keep in mind it was a meeting where those on speed were advantaged and if you were back in the run, you pretty much had no chance. Fitter, up to the mile and the depth isn’t strong.

11 Floriano (Bet Now: $8.00) gets the Blinkers on first time, so think she can be an improver here, but would need to improve to trouble the two mentioned above. She ran at Murray Bridge last time out and battled away okay behind Happy Atom. The Blinkers on and 3kg claim helps her cause, so interesting to see what the market does.

In the corner of 6 Thompson’s Reward (Bet Now: $5.00) for David Jolly. Big win at this track/distance two back before coming back to 1000m on the Parks track and was good from the back when third to Saorsa. The rise back up to 1100m I do like for him and he does tend to save his best for the course proper here. Hard to beat.

3 Street Life (Bet Now: $26.00) can bounce back here. He’s on the seven day back up for Karen Byrnes after racing here last Saturday over 1200m when wide no cover for the trip and tiring late when last to Tequila Time. He has raced well on the back up previously and his best is certainly good enough to be around the mark here.

10 La Vita (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Stuart Gower trained mare that has had a four week let up since resuming over 1050m here when backed with real confidence late and under a lovely ride from Stubby, she was able to cling on and fend off a strong challenge late from Chucky. Harder here, but fresh is best for her, so I’d be watching the market.

Bit of a throw at the stumps here via 1 Masterati (Bet Now: $14.00). Grant Young trained gelding that is two weeks between runs since sitting on a very hot speed on the Parks track and he had to tire, which he did, finishing down the track behind One More Jack. Gets a lovely run from the gate and drops massively in grade/depth. Each way speck for sure.

7 Deevine (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Ryan Balfour trained four year old that isn’t far off a win. He ran over 1000m on the Parks track two weeks ago and worked to the line pretty well late, but was clearly no match for the impressive sustained speed produced by Alleboom. The depth here, as a whole, isn’t strong, and is crying out for the extra ground.

12 Sonic Deed’s (Bet Now: $9.00) best chance of winning will be sustained speed from the front. She tried to lead on the Parks track a fortnight ago but she couldn’t lead and had to chase Alleboom, who pretty much broke the hearts of the field, including Sonic Deed, who got the staggers late. If she can lead and roll, she’ll take some running down.

12 Oh Please Dianna (Bet Now: $5.00) can get back into the winners list here. Team McEvoy trained mare that was a real eye catcher first up at Sandown when running third. She then went to Mornington and found a genuine wet track. The wheels were spinning on the surface, so I’d be forgiving of that effort. She finds a winnable race to bounce back into positive form.

The rise to 1200m looks ideal for the Will Clarken trained mare 6 Magic Sunset (Bet Now: $8.00). Two runs back from a year break have come over 1000m, both on the Parks track, and each time she has caught the eye, suggesting that a rise in trip will suit. She gets that here and has got upside, so think she’s a leading chance.

8 Hearty Lass (Bet Now: $5.00) is a John Hyam trained mare that was met with strong support when she resumed here four weeks ago. Just did that bit too much work to land on speed and was left a sitting shot for Lakhani Rose to swoop, and that is a mare who I think is Stakes class. Think that form reads well for here.
