15/9/2018 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Racing in Adelaide returns to the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday for an eight race meeting. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out eight metres from the 1000m-Winning Post; Out six metres for the remainder.

5 Dollar Dollar Bill (Bet Now: $2.10) is a Jake Stephens trained mare who is racing in career best form at the moment. Strong winner two back at Murray Bridge before racing over this track/distance a few weeks ago where she improved big time and she bolted up, with Jamie Kah producing a 12/10. Stable places them nicely and she does look well placed here.

1 Crafty Devil (Bet Now: $7.00) looks one of the hardest to beat. This girl comes through a Country Cup at Warracknabeal where she got well back off the speed but closed off quite strongly to just miss out on picking up the tough on speed customer Barry The Baptist. Has plenty of upside and looks a major threat.

4 Rock On Ivy (Bet Now: $26.00) is one I’d include in multiples. I reckon she’s a working progress for Grant Young who who ran over 2000m on the course proper three weeks ago where she finished down the track behind Super Swoop, perhaps not handling the rain affected track. Back on firmer footing, she can bounce back.

Pretty keen that 6 Orbost (Bet Now: $5.00) gets the job done. Will Clarken trains this filly, who debuted in a maiden at Gawler over 1100m where I thought she was a good thing off impressive trials and despite being nearer the inside, which wasn’t the A1 spot to be, but she proved too good and the time was a couple of lengths quicker than the other 1100m race that afternoon. Confident she goes close.

It’ll be interesting to see what 1 Fighting Harada (Bet Now: $2.35) can achieve if he gets clear air. He hasn’t got that in both runs this time in at Sandown, first up beaten narrowly by Smart Elissim before racing there again and this time getting no luck at all when bolting. Stable are hoping to use this as an easy kill to get his rating up…he can win, but I couldn’t take the short odds.

8 Scenic Sight (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Darren Weir trained filly who was quite good in her first couple of runs before going to a Mildura maiden where I thought young Michael Poy rode the filly a treat from a tricky draw and she absolutely spanked them. Harder here, but always have to respect the stable when they come here.

3 Haripour (Bet Now: $2.40) clearly for me. Darren Weir trains this stayer, who has done a really good job in his first Australian prep. He last raced over 2080m at Cranbourne where he looked a good thing on paper and won accordingly under a beaut steer from Lane, beating up a pretty handy field. Form at 2400m+ when racing overseas reads very well. Keen on him here.

2 Kellstorm (Bet Now: $11.00) can definitely win here. Froggy rode the horse quite poorly I thought here two back behind Ayers Rock before going to the Valley where he got back on the leaders track and had no chance of running on behind Tiffany’s Lass. If he runs up to anywhere near his best, he can definitely win.

4 Exalted Craftsman (Bet Now: $12.00) is a son of Skilled for the Grant Young stable who is in ripping form at the moment. Ran over the 2250m here a fortnight ago where I thought he was outstanding in winning. He was there to be beaten when Mr Sheridan loomed large, but Exalted Craftsman dug in deep when challenged. Harder here, but hard fit and in form.

Pretty keen here on the Mick Price trained 2 Heptagon (Bet Now: $2.35). Three weeks between runs since resuming at the Valley where he got back against the bias but worked home well enough I thought behind a quality mare in Merriest. 1/1 when produced second up and drops big time in depth. Quite keen on his chances.

1 Artie Dee Two (Bet Now: $5.00) has been up a fair while for Darren Weir but is racing in okay form at the moment. Strong winner here two back before going to Bendigo where he got back and worked home okay behind Light ‘N’ Fire. Back to Adelaide, I think he can bounce back but will need a bit of luck in running.

6 Zalmona (Bet Now: $5.50) looks the pick of the locals. Peter Blanch has this five year old gelding racing in super form at the moment. Ran over the 1250m here a fortnight ago where I thought Pannell gave the horse a peach steer off the pace and he chased really hard late when he had to in order to win. 1400m no issue and remains relatively well weighted.

6 Tamasa (Bet Now: $2.10) should be putting this field away. He’s got Group l talent, but whether it’s going to be seen this prep, I’m not sure. Resumed at Geelong a couple of Sundays back where he was unlucky not to win when held up early on in the straight but when clear, he absolutely savaged the line and just missed out on picking up Haunted.

8 Trembling (Bet Now: $6.00) is a former Busuttin/Young galloper that had his first run for Will Clarken over the 1000m here a fortnight ago where he defied the bias and worked home strongly from the back to run second to impressive winner Celtic Blast. He’ll love the extra 250m and can sit closer in the run from the good draw.

7 Bris Vegas (Bet Now: $14.00) can be hit and miss at times but we know that if he brings his best, he is a city class horse. He ran over 1050m at Balaklava a couple of Wednesdays back where he started Winx-like odds but certainly didn’t win like her, working hard for the win but eventually getting th job done. He is a city class horse on his best form, so give him respect.

Looks a perfect assignment for the Darren Weir trained 4 Astrological (Bet Now: $4.60). This mare ran at Ballarat last Wednesday where she got well back off the pace but finished off quite strongly to run second to Lady Cromac. Up to 1400m looks ideal and despite this being a city race, the depth looks a touch inferior. Keen.

7 With A Bit Of Dash (Bet Now: $14.00) is a Chris Bieg trained mare who has had two runs back from a break and looks just about ready to show her best. Just ran out of puff first up at Balaklava before racing over 1250m here where she ran a close up fifth to Zalmona. Up to 1400m and back to the mares grade, she can bounce back.

1 Miss Identified (Bet Now: $16.00) is a daughter of Hussonet for Travis Doudle who should improve off the resumption over the 1250m here where she just looked in need of the run behind Zalmona. Has a good record at the track/distance and can run very well second up. Not sure she can win, but a must for exotics.

4 Tan Tat Trusting (Bet Now: $2.60) should be winning this. Tony McEvoy trains this promising gelding, who was given a pearler by Stubby last time at this track/distance, getting ideal cover before presenting wider on the turn and letting down strongly to eventually wear down Moghul Empire. That form reads well for this.

7 Adatto (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Michael Hickmott trained gelding who comes back to SA after a Darwin prep, where he last raced there on Cup Day over 1900m where he kept surging under hard riding from Maskiell but was beaten by the bob of the head. Back to 1400m the little query, but the market will be the best guide.

8 Bolt I Am (Bet Now: $10.00) is on the quick back up after racing last Wednesday at Strathalbyn where I thought Kayla Crowther produced an absolute peach of a ride, saving ground nearer the inside before getting the inside split and dashing through to win. Has run well in town before so I think he can definitely measure up.

Happy to be with 5 Lockdown Jack (Bet Now: $11.00). David Jolly trains this gelding, who resumed at this track/distance and was outstanding, producing a lethal finishing burst to get a narrow but sharp win. He then ran over 1050m on the course proper and couldn’t come into it at all behind Barood. Back to the Parks track, fresh, I think the race sets up for him to unleash.

10 French Rock (Bet Now: $5.50) is a son of Statue Of Liberty for the Francis/Kent team that resumes. He hasn’t raced since early June over the 1250m here where he sat wide with cover and tried hard when third to Vieira. Can sprint well fresh and if he can get a cold steer, I think he’ll be quite effective late in the race.

7 Capannello (Bet Now: $8.00) looks the most obvious. Robbie Griffiths trains this gelding, who was quite good here two back behind More Than Exceed prior to racing at Echua where I thought Ben Thompson gave the horse a peach and the horse kept finding to prove too good. Gets the run of the race and is a definite winning chance.

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 4 Astrological

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 5 Lockdown Jack
