6 Larkham (Bet Now: $7.50) lacks the experience of some of these but was really taken by his debut at Murray Bridge in a 900m maiden. Was back off the speed and hit a flat spot for a few strides but loved the way he picked up and was a real eye catcher late when third to Fountain Of Youth. This looks like it will be a truly run 1000m and he’ll be strong at the end.

Danger

4 Hankstar (Bet Now: $2.40) is a son of Delago Deluxe for Peter Nolan that was relatively unwanted in betting when resuming on the course proper here two weeks ago and I think he probably wins if he had a bunny to chase instead of leading. He was left a sitting shot for something to blouse him, and Three Legs In did, but Hankstar didn’t turn it up. Think with cover, he’ll be dangerous and happy to give him respect.

Long Shot

5 Magic Dee (Bet Now: $5.00) is a daughter of Zebedee for Shane Oxlade that resumes. Stable is flying at the moment and I’m giving respect to this girl, who is first up, having not raced since January 4 at Gawler when solid in defeat behind a then in form Picargo. She’s a filly who can sprint well fresh and for mine is a knockout chance for sure.

Firmly in the corner of the Jon O’Connor trained 4 Motell (Bet Now: $5.00). Was keen on him here two weeks ago but was scratched and saved for a maiden at Balaklava last Wednesday where he looked a moral on paper and won accordingly under a confident steer from Paul Gatt. Up in trip looks ideal and he has change up speed when asked.

Danger

1 Ritratto (Bet Now: $6.00) is my early speck for the SA Derby so really keen to see him resume for the in form Mick Huxtable team. This bloke really came of age during the Spring/Summer, proving himself to be quite a decent potential stayer with good wins over staying trips. Loved his Oakbank trial and 1400m first up is an ideal kicking off point.

Long Shot

3 Holy Dancer (Bet Now: $4.00) is a daughter of Sacred Falls for Phillip Stokes that had trialled up well prior to resuming over 1250m here three weeks ago where she got back in the run and was held up at times but for the most part, she had her chance behind impressive returning winner Lady Bethany. Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks.

5 Serious Spender (Bet Now: $2.90) is a Macdonald/Gluyas mare that seems like she wants more ground and she gets it here. Ran over the mile on the course proper here two weeks ago, her third straight run at the trip. Got back in the race and worked home okay without really threatening behind impressive winner Farooq. Up to 1950m in a very winnable race. I’m in her corner.

Danger

4 Putting On Airs (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Michael Hickmott trained mare that is racing really well this time in. Ran over the mile last Wednesday at Murray Bridge and really, the race was over after 200m. Anna was able to completely control things in front and nothing from behind was running her down. If she can lead and control here, she’ll take some beating.

Long Shot

6 Inknow Where Youliv (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Travis Doudle trained galloper that is lightly raced but heading in the right direction. Ran over 2200m at Balaklava last Wednesday where in a real slog, he finished best and was too good in the run to the line. I think if he’s to win, he needs to be on speed and get rolling from around the 700m mark because the trip will be no issue, especially with the light weight.

Race 4. (15:01) Barossa Fine Foods Mdn Plate 1000m

In the corner of 5 Ecumenical (Bet Now: $19.00), a Zebedee filly for Mick Huxtable that is on debut. Didn’t look too bad in an Oakbank trial behind Rocabella before a jumpout at Murray Bridge last week and she was impressive in winning that, doing it under no real pressure and ran okay time. Stable is having a good run at the moment and this is not the strongest maiden IMO.

Danger

8 She’s Tricky (Bet Now: $3.50) is resuming for Will Clarken and I think she’s a clear yard/market watch. She debuted on the course proper here back on December 14 and thought she was a real eye catcher late when third to the well performed Bribery. Can’t find a recent trial/jumpout for her, so market will be the guide, but off that run, she’s hard to beat.

Long Shot

Not going to entirely drop off 10 Vondexter (Bet Now: $27.00). Specked her at a price when she debuted in the Cinderella but her race was over after 50m. Got back, forced to restrain and get to the inside and was never really a factor at all. The jumpout prior suggested she’s got some ability, so in a maiden here, keen to see how she goes.

11 Intrigue (Bet Now: $2.40) looks the winner. Very disappointing resumption as a $1.35 pop at Mornington. Went to the Valley where she was ridden cold, peeled wide and surged late, but Campese got the split and burst through to win. Third up at 1250m and back a fair bit in depth, this looks ideal placement from Team McEvoy and should be winning.

Danger

7 Stan The Caddy (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Rebel Raider gelding for Will Clarken that is on debut. This bloke has had a trial and jumpout to prepare for start one. Thought he closed off well in a Feb 4 jumpout at Strathalbyn before going to a Parks trial and looked to go about his business quite nicely. Always watch the market with this stable and their runners first up.

Long Shot

10 Indiscretion (Bet Now: $5.00) is a daughter of Sebring for Phillip Stokes that pulled up with a sore back when resuming at Moe. Then went to Sale when doing work from the gate to get near the speed and tried hard when third to Cobain. Third up from a spell, she should just about be at peak fitness and up to 1250m is a definite tick.

8 Fleeting Feeling (Bet Now: $9.00) looks suited back up in trip for Team McEvoy. This mare was far from disgraced two back at Sandown behind The Closer before coming back to 1250m here and liked the way she finished her race off behind Lady Bethany. Big tick is that she rises up in trip and can sit closer in the run if need be.

Danger

6 Ambidazzle (Bet Now: $3.10) is racing so well this time in for Phillip Stokes. Won two of three before going to the 1400m here three weeks ago where she did a bit of work early from the tricky gate but for the most part, she had her chance when third to Perfect Command. Back to Mares grade and back to 1300m, she looks hard to beat.

Long Shot

5 Tour Down Under (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Robert Kingston trained gelding that is on the quick back up after racing down the Flemington straight last Wednesday where he was back off the speed and chased strongly without really being a winning threat when finishing midfield behind Triguboff. Back on a bending track and up in trip with the claim, he’s likeable.

Race 7. (16:56) Dominant (bm68) 1300m

Tipping 6 Sacred Walk (Bet Now: $6.50) to bounce back. Impressive first up winner over 1250m here before going to 1400m here three weeks ago where she was tardy away, forced back to last and didn’t really fire a shot, with the jock teling Stewards post race that they intended to be more forward in the run, so from gate one, expecting her to hold a forward spot and recent meetings at this track has suited those on speed/rail.

Danger

The best version of 4 Lucky Flipper (Bet Now: $7.50) would see her take this out. Thought her jumpout was very good prior to resuming here five weeks ago and she was pretty ordinary behind Lucky Fish. Has a good second up record and does tend to save her best for the Parks track these days. If she’s right, think she can improve big time on the resumption.

Long Shot

8 Ambertone (Bet Now: $23.00) is a Shane Oxlade trained mare who has been solid enough in two runs back from a break. Latest run came two weeks ago over 1200m on the course proper when well held by Bajan but was far from disgraced. Think a rise to 1300m will suit her, as will returning to Mares grade, so giving her a chance.

1 Call Me Curtis (Bet Now: $4.80) isn’t the most reliable horse going around when it comes to greeting the judge first, but he does try very hard and will give his all in front. That’s what he did three weeks ago at this track/distance and tried his guts out, but couldn’t quite fend off Lady Bethany. Lands in front and with Caboche to steer, he’ll take some beating.

Danger

7 Celtic Rebel (Bet Now: $3.50) is a well bred son of Dissident for Team McEvoy that resumes. This three year old hasn’t raced since December 21 down the Flemington straight when somewhat outclassed behind Alburq. Had a trial in early January before two February trials, the latest coming at Oakbank. I’d watch the market and see what it does.

Long Shot

2 Bolt I Am (Bet Now: $7.50) can be an improver here at odds. On face value, his run behind Equus D’Oro was disappointing two weeks ago, but considering the leader/winner ran 33.3 for the final 600m, those behind had no chance, including this guy. That was his first run in just under a month, so up in trip with improvement re fitness, he’s a knockout chance.

Back Me

1 Rapid Raiser (Bet Now: $2.05) jumps straight to 1550m but he does look a progressive galloper for Jake Stephens. Ran over 1200m at Murray Bridge last Wednesday where he was chasing a strong speed and looked in a bit of trouble, but loved the way he knuckled down late and surged the last little bit to nab Calypso Storm. He’ll eat up 1550m and finds a very winnable race.

Danger

5 Scout’s Honour (Bet Now: $5.50) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1300m here last Saturday where he was back near last in the run but his finale was outstanding and made up a stack of ground to run fifth to Cotillion. Off that, he’ll eat up the extra 250m and has run well when racing with a less than two week gap between runs.

Long Shot

4 Paint The Stars (Bet Now: $9.00) is on the quick back up for Shawn Mathrick after racing at Stony Creek on Sunday where he was surprisingly good odds and under a lovely ride from Beau Mertens, he finished best out wide to score. Stable doesn’t bring them to SA unless they go close to winning so I’d watch the market closely.
